ATC approves 7-day physical remand of Azam Swati

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Anti-Terrorism Court has approved another 7-day physical remand of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) leader Azam Swati in the arson and vandalism case.

PTI leader Azam Swati was produced before the Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi on completion of 2-day physical remand. ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah heard the request for physical remand.

The police requested for further physical remand of Azam Swati, on which the court approved the physical remand of Azam Swati for another 7 days.

A case has been registered against Azam Swati in Taxila police station under terrorism provisions.

Azam Swati is accused of arson, vandalism, rioting and interference in government.

It should be remembered that two days ago, Azam Swati was arrested again by police as soon as he was released from the Attock jail.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati rearrested after being released from Attock jail.

Former federal minister, Azam Swati was re-arrested by the police as soon as he was released from Attock Jail.

According to the police, Azam Swati was arrested from outside Attock Jail. Taxila and Hassan Abdal police stations have registered cases against the former minister and other leaders.

It should be noted that Azam Swati was arrested from Islamabad during the protest last month and later transferred to Attock Jail.

Anti-Terrorism and District Court of Islamabad granted bail to Azam Swati in 8 different cases and ordered his release.

Court grants interim bail to Azam Swati in six cases of May 9 riots

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Khan Swati in six cases related to the May-9 riots, until May 21.

The court stopped the police from arresting Azam Swati and instructed the PTI leader to join the investigation.

ATC Judge Arshad Javed heard the bail petitions of Azam Swati, who was also present during the proceedings.

In his bail petitions, Azam Swati stated that the police had falsely implicated him in six cases, including attacks on Jinnah House and Askari Tower, torching of  the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz office in Model Town, and police vehicles in Gulberg.

He expressed his intention to cooperate with the investigations to prove his innocence but expressed concern about potential police arrest. He requested bail from the court.

The PTI leader had obtained protective bail from the Peshawar High Court to approach the court.

ISLAMABAD: A local court on Tuesday confirmed the bail of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf’s leader Azam Khan Swati in a case pertaining to violation of section-144.

A district and session judge Islamabad heard the case and approved the bail of accused against surety bonds worth Rs 5,000.

During hearing, the defence lawyer Ali Bokhari Advocate said that his client was arrested in this case and very next day he was granted post arrest bail. But the same was cancelled due to his non appearance and then he was declared absconder, he added.

After hearing arguments, the court confirmed the bail.

Murad, Swati cleared to contest Senate elections

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has dismissed the petitions challenging the acceptance of nomination papers for prominent Senate election candidates Murad Saeed, Azam Swati, Faisal Javed, Khurram Zeeshan and Azhar Mashwani.

Justice Arshad Ali and Justice Waqar Ahmed of Peshawar High Court heard the petition filed by Murad Saeed against approval of papers for Senate elections.

During the hearing, Murad Saeed’s lawyer told the court that Taj Mohammad Afridi has withdrawn the papers and now he is not a Senate candidate. He cannot object if he is not a candidate.

At the same time, Amir Javed Advocate took the position in the court that Taj Mohammad Afridi is an objector from the beginning, he was also a candidate when filing the application, Murad Saeed did not provide correct details regarding the cases, Murad Saeed did not disclose the assets, while Murad Saeed did not disclose the assets. Murad Saeed did not even deposit the fine imposed for violating the code of conduct.

Amir Javed Advocate told the court that Murad Saeed’s papers for the National Assembly were rejected for not submitting the fine and the appeal has to be filed by himself, but Murad Saeed is absconding.

On this, Justice Arshad Ali remarked that the Supreme Court has made it clear about the absconding, an petition has been filed in the Peshawar High Court for the details of the cases, while the assets have been disclosed and the FBR documents are present.

Justice Arshad Ali in his remarks further said that Murad Saeed’s confirmation and endorser himself appeared before the RO, how can the signature be fake, Murad Saeed also signed, the video was also shown to the RO.

PESHAWAR: Azam Swati has approached the Peshawar High Court(PHC) on the issue of postponing the Senate elections for not taking the oath of the members of reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

PTI leader Azam Swati’s lawyer, Ali Azeem Afridi, advocate submitted a petition to the Peshawar High Court, in which it has been decided that postponing the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is illegal.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the decision without hearing the Senate candidates. Those who heard were just elected and they did not even take the oath.

It has been argued in the petition that the petitioner Azam Swati is a Senate candidate and he was not heard, the election process of the Senate will be affected by the decision of the ECP  and it is the constitutional responsibility of the electoral body to ensure timely Senate elections.

Appellate Tribunal allows Azam Swati to contest Senate election

PESHAWAR:  The Appellate Tribunal allowed Pakistan Tehreek Insaf(PTI) leader Azam Swati to contest the Senate elections.

PTI leader Azam Swati filed an appeal against the rejection of nomination papers for the general seat of the Senate, on which the judge of the Appellate Tribunal, Justice Shakeel Ahmed, gave a reserved decision today.

The Appellate Tribunal accepted the nomination papers of PTI leader Azam Swati to contest the general seat of the Senate.

Justice Shakeel Ahmed said that the decision would be issued later on the appeal for the technocrat seat.

PESHAWAR: The nomination papers of two Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) leaders for the Senate elections were rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP).

ECP Spokesperson said the electoral body rejected the nomination papers of PTI leaders Murad Saeed and Azam Swati for the Senate election from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on general and technocrat seats, respectively.

Similarly, the nomination papers of the leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Parliamentarians and former chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan have also been rejected.

The ECP has also issued the final list of 30 candidates whose nomination papers have been approved including 16 for general seats, eight for technocrat, and six for women’s seats.

The development comes as the ECP is set to hold elections for 48 seats of the upper house on April 2 which were vacated after the expiration of the six-year term of the incumbent senators on March 11.

The members of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, and Punjab assemblies would vote to elect members against seven general seats, two women and two seats for technocrats, including Ulema.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati had filed an appeal against approval of nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif for National Assembly Constituency NA-15 from Abbottabad, which has been accepted for hearing.

PESHAWAR: The absconding leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Senator Azam Khan Swati, has announced to contest the election against Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif in the upcoming general elections 2024.

A video of Senator Azam Khan Swati has been released on the social media page of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, in which Azam Swati is expressing his desire to contest elections against Nawaz Sharif in the National Assembly constituency from Mansehra.

The PTI leader, accusing the former prime minister of corruption and making properties abroad by looting the country’s wealth, said that Nawaz Sharif has submitted his nomination papers to contest the National Assembly election from NA-15 Mansehra.

Azam Swati said, “If my party gives me the ticket, I will fight against Nawaz Sharif, and the brave people, mothers, sisters, and brothers of Mansehra will support and vote for me on February 8”.

It should be remembered that the leader of Muslim League-N, Captain (Retd) Safdar Awan, had received the nomination papers of Nawaz Sharif from Mansehra and he said that Nawaz Sharif would become the Prime Minister of the country for the fourth time after winning the National Assembly election from Mansehra.

ISLAMABAD: Special Judge Central Islamabad has issued a permanent arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) leader Azam Swati in the controversial tweet case.

Islamabad’s Special Judge Central Shah Rukh Arjumand issued a permanent warrant against Azam Swati for his continued skipping court appearances despite initiating the process to declare Azam Swati as a proclaimed offender.

Earlier, the Special Judge Central had initiated proceeding to declare Azam Swati as a proclaimed offender(PO).

The court has ordered the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) ​​to arrest Senator Azam Swati wherever he is seen.

It was on May 30, 2023, that a special court in Islamabad issued non-bailable arrest warrants for PTI leader Azam Swati at the request of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court(LHC) has ordered senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) leader Azam Swati to be produced in court and to form a medical board.

A hearing was held in the Bahawalpur Bench of the Lahore High Court on the request for the recovery of senior Tehreek-e-Insaf Senate leader Azam Swati.

Bahawalpur Bench ordered to the production of Senator Azam Swati and Mohammad Khan Madani in court. The case was heard by Justice Anwar Haq Pannu.

Bahawalpur Bench of Lahore High Court also ordered to form of a medical board for PTI leader Azam Swati and also ordered the Superintendent Jail to present both the leaders before the medical board.
Petitioner Adeel Aslam’s lawyer Saqib Tariq argued that Azam Swati went missing after his arrest. It is possible that he was subjected to torture.

The petitioner’s counsel pleaded that the Court should order Swati’s recovery and conduct a medical board.

Earlier, Lahore High Court sought a report from the Punjab government on the petition for the recovery of Eijaz Chaudhry and other PTI leaders.

The petitioner’s lawyer said that a report should be sought from the government, as there is a danger that they will not be included in the unknown persons, on which the court remarked that you went to arrest them yourself.

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to submit a written response regarding elections in the province.

In the Peshawar High Court, Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Justice Arshad Ali heard the case on behalf of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for the timely elections of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Azam Swati, Asad Qaiser, Shibli Faraz, and Shah Farman appeared in the court.

At the beginning of the hearing, the Advocate General stated that the Chief Secretary submitted the reply today. On this, the court said that the Governor has not submitted the reply, and the Governor should tell the court why he has not given the date yet.

Advocate General submitted that according to the constitution, the governor has time to give the date. Justice Arshad Ali said that it will be discussed later, first reply in writing was that no date was given in reply to the first letter.

The court inquired what if the Election Commission did not get the date, would be the course of action.

The court also directed the Election Commission to submit a written reply.
On the other hand, the lawyer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf presented the decision of the Lahore High Court in court.

The PTI lawyer stated that the Election Commission’s letter, the Governor’s reply, and the President’s letter are on record, the Governor does not want to give the date on the basis of excuses.

LARKANA: The Sindh police quashed all cases registered against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Senator Azam Swati in the Larkana division.

Azam Swati’s son Usman Swati reached the High Court Sukkur bench where he filed a petition against the arrest of his father and quash the cases.

Senator Azam Swati was produced in the court of Magistrate and Civil Judge Naseerabad today after a three-day remand.

The cancellation class report of the cases filed in Qamber Shahdadkot, Larkana, and District Kashmore Kandhkot by the Larkana Police was submitted in the court of Judicial Magistrate and Civil Judge Naseerabad.

According to the report, the cases filed against Azam Swati in Larkana, Qamber Shahdadkot, Shikarpur, and Kashmore have been closed.

During today’s proceedings, Abdul Rauf Korai, counsel for Swati, presented a report before Qambar judicial magistrate and civil judge Ali Bakhsh Mashori.

He informed the local court that police have withdrawn cases registered against his client in three districts of the Larkana division.

The lawyer said that Swati’s three-day physical remand has also expired but his client is still under the custody of Qambar police.
