Government of Punjab decided not to allow PTI to hold a rally on March 19

Matric Exam Toppers of 2024 Awarded by Punjab Government
  • The government of Punjab denies permission for the PTI to organize a rally.
  • If the party proceeds with a rally on Sunday, Section 144 will be enforced.
  • Lahore High Court also halted the planned rally of PTI.

The government of Punjab has made the decision to deny permission for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to organize a rally on March 19th.

Sources have reported that the PTI intended to host a gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday, March 19th, but this plan has been halted by the Lahore High Court.

Concurrently, the provincial government of Punjab has also resolved to not grant permission for the PTI on this matter.

The provincial administration has clarified that the PTI will not be permitted to conduct any sort of meeting or rally. If the party proceeds with a rally on Sunday, Section 144 will be enforced.

It is important to mention that the Lahore High Court has not only extended the stay on former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s arrest by one day but also prevented the PTI from organizing a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on Sunday.

For context, Imran Khan had previously announced a historic rally at Minar-e-Pakistan, located at Greater Iqbal Park in Lahore, on Sunday, March 19th. This event was meant to serve as the launch for the party’s election campaign, despite existing security concerns.

PTI believes in supremacy of constitution and law: Shah Mahmood Qureshi

PTI believes
  • PTI leader said, “We are the bearers of the constitution and the law.”
  • He said PTI  give cease-fire message to Govt and after consultation.
  • He said PTI approached IHC and LHC against police action .

LAHORE: Former federal minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that there is an attempt to put the country in such a situation that it will be difficult to resolve.

Talking to the media outside the Lahore High Court, Vice Chairman PTI has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is a party that believes in the supremacy of the Constitution and the law.

He said, “We are the bearers of the constitution and the law and want to protect the fundamental rights that are being violated, so why would we violate the constitution and the law.”

He further said “If the police want to comply with the court order, they should tell us because the address written on the court order is of Bani Gala, so it is not Bani Gala and the main mistake is that you take the court order. You have come to Zaman Park while you should have gone to Bani Gala.”

Shah Mahmood Qureshi has described the scene of the previous day and said that since now when the police have come to Zaman Park, PTI give them a cease-fire message and after consultation with the party chairman, we will find a way that will not cause any loss of life.

PTI leader said that the police agreed with him and when he reached Imran Khan for consultation, law enforcement agencies started shilling, and the situation that arose after that was in front of everyone.

He said, “Government is bent on making the situation worse and we have decided that we will take the legal route for which we have gone to Islamabad High Court and Lahore High Court.”

He further said that the PTI petition is currently under hearings in the courts and the party would like the judiciary to decide and find a way that will ensure legal compliance and also avoid the danger to life and this is the mischief of the caretaker government.

The former federal minister said that yesterday when Imran Khan was in contact with the international media, he kept shilling shells in front of him for the world to see and even today all the bullet shells found have been collected and the media can see what the situation is made.
