Pakistan Junior League seeks talented cricketers’ videos

Pakistan Junior League
  • Pakistan Junior League (PJL) has opened doors for all gifted youngsters around the nation.
  • The inaugural PJL will start on October 1 and last for 14 days.
  • Six franchises will compete in the event which will be held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) earlier this year introduced the Pakistan Junior League for the first time in the nation’s history in an effort to uncover fresh talent for the national side.

The first season of the cricket league will start on October 1, but the management is working hard to get everything set and has this time opened doors for all gifted youngsters around the nation.

The Pakistan Junior League posted an invitation to participate in the inaugural U19-level competition on its official social media account.

PJL noted in the invitation to the players, “If you have special and unique cricketing talent, share it with us! Get a chance to be part of the PJL.”

By simply posting his footage to YouTube with the hashtags #PJL #Next11 #HuntfortheNext11, tagging three friends in the comments, and liking and sharing the post on social media, an interested player can submit an application.

The PJL would offer the ideal platform for young cricketers in the nation to polish their skills as they will compete with elite junior cricketers from across the world, the PCB chairman said when the league was announced.

It is significant to remember that six franchises will compete in the event. At Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, the league will start on October 1 and last for 14 days.

PCB forbids centrally contracted players from playing in KPL

PCB
  • Kashmir Premier League will not feature any centrally contracted players from Pakistan.
  • Control of their workload before the T20 World Cup is a primary priority for the PCB.
  • 19 matches will be played in the KPL, which begins on August 6 in Muzaffarabad.

The Kashmir Premier League (KPL) season, which begins on August 6 in Muzaffarabad, will not feature any players who are centrally contracted with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

According to PCB Director of Media Samiul Hasan Burney, the board made the decision with consideration for player fitness because controlling their workload before the T20 World Cup is a primary priority.

The Kashmir Premier League will not feature any of Pakistan’s centrally contracted players because they are currently in the West Indies.

The players’ workload needs to be regulated as well because Pakistan has a series against Afghanistan and England coming up after the West Indies tour, according to Burney.

He argued that because the National T20 Cup is a domestic competition and the PSL is Pakistan’s premier tournament, the KPL cannot be compared to any of those competitions.

The KPL, in contrast, is a private league where most of the players are retired, he added.

Six teams will compete against one another from August 6 to August 17 in the first KPL: the Rawalakot Hawks, Kotli Lions, Mirpur Royals, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Overseas Warriors, and Bagh Stallions.

19 matches will be contested in the event.

Pakistan players to get separate Test and limited overs contracts

Pakistan
  • Pakistan has given separate contracts to players in the Test and limited-overs squads.
  • Babar Azam is one of just five players offered both red and white ball contracts.
  • Ten players received test contracts, while 11 earned contracts for the shorter versions of the game.

Pakistan has given separate contracts to players in the Test and limited-overs squads in a bid to build long-term depth, the chief selector said Thursday.

Previously, top players were offered one contract and could be called on to play any version of the game, but specialisation has made this out of fashion for many cricketing nations.

“These contracts are part of our vision and strategy to identify, groom and develop specialists for the traditional and purist format of the game,” chief selector Mohammad Wasim told press conference.

Babar Azam, captain of the Test, ODI and Twenty-20 teams, is one of just five players offered both red and white ball contracts.

The others are Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Ten players received test contracts, while 11 players earned contracts for the shorter versions of the game.

All players named will get a ten per cent increase in their match fees, while Azam also gets a bonus for being captain.

PCB: New Zealand Cricket has not talked about any worries over upcoming tour

PCB: New Zealand Cricket has not talked about any worries over upcoming tour

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) denied the news about New Zealand Cricket’s worried about the upcoming Pakistan tour and told that (NZC) has not spoken to them over such concerns.

The PCB spokesperson stated that the cricket board was preparing for the New Zealand tour and the series is at its full steam, as was the case in earlier held home series and the Pakistan Super League.

He told that the players and match officials will love the status of state guests in Pakistan during their tour.

New Zealand media had previously reported that the team’s tour to Pakistan was subject to a security reconsideration as the players had expressed worries.

The media reported that New Zealand Press Association Chief Heath Mills said that whatever happening in Afghanistan is miserable and people, as well as the New Zealand players, were questioning the security check procedures.

The report also proposed that the NZC independent security consultant Reg Dickason will tour Pakistan the following week to ensure the security situation here, and his report based on a detailed evaluation will make the final decision whether they will tour Pakistan or not.

The PCB is fixed to the stance that the tour has been scheduled and it has nothing to do with the regional situation.

As per PCB, Reg’s visit in August was scheduled long ago and it has nothing to do with the Afghanistan issue.

PCB spokesperson told that Reg is an adviser of the England Cricket Board (ECB) too, hence he will provide his advice to them, also regarding England’s men and women teams’ visit to Pakistan, scheduled for October.

For now, England reported that ECB would also examine the security situation in Pakistan for the autumn ODI tour for England’s men’s and women’s cricket teams.

On the other hand, an ECB spokesperson told that there are always going to be security checks and procedures
