PTI leader Azam Swati released from Attock Jail

PTI leader

ATTOCK: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former senator Azam Khan Swati has been released from Attock Jail after obtaining bail in a case.

The cases were registered against PTI leader Azam Swati in Sangjani, Taxila.

However, Azam Khan Swati was arrested on November 5 in a case registered in Taxila police station, after which the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi Bench granted bail to the PTI leader on January 30.

Earlier in October, Azam Swati was arrested from Islamabad during the protest and then shifted to Attock Jail.

However, in November, he was rearrested by the police as soon as he was released from the jail.

Azam Khan, seven other names removed from ECL

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has approved the removal of eight people from  Exit Control Lists(ECL) involved in the £190 million corruption.

Sources said the Federal Cabinet approved the removal of the names from the Exit Control List (ECL) on the recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau(NAB). After federal cabinet approval, the names of eight persons related to the 190 million pound case were removed from the ECL.

The names of the persons removed from ECL include former Secretary to Prime Minister Azam Khan, Raja Manzoor Kiyani, and Arif Rahim.

Similarly, the names of Naveed Akbar, Sikandar Hayat, Nisar Muhammad, Ghulam Haider, and Arif Nazir Butt have also been removed from the ECL.

The names of these persons were included in the ECL for being linked to the £190 million case.

PESHAWAR: Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan along with members of the provincial cabinet visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar on Monday.

The dignitaries were briefed about overall security situation, ongoing development projects in Newly Merged Districts (NMDs) and capacity building of police. Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen. Hassan Azhar Hayat and other senior civil and military officials attended the meeting.

The participants reiterated the importance of socioeconomic development projects including the revival of tourism and mineral exploration in NMDs, which are vital for sustainable peace and growth in the area.

The meeting also reviewed the mechanisms of border management including measures to curtail and curb the smuggling of goods and put forward a comprehensive approach to address the issues.

The participants underscored the importance of the capacity building of KP Police including Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and expressed satisfaction on the recent achievements of police in thwarting terrorist attacks across the province.

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister, Muhammad Azam Khan stressed to increasing power generation in KP and said that completion of ongoing power generation projects would not only add electricity to the national grid but also help increase income of the province.

He was chairing the 13th policy board meeting of the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO).

On the occasion, the Chief Minister presented the annual report of PEDO for the year 2022-23. Caretaker CM expressed satisfaction over PEDO’s performance expressing hope that PEDO would ensure the timely completion of energy generation projects to enhance the energy generation capacity of the province and provide cheap electricity to people.

The meeting also approved the current budget estimate of PEDO for 2023-24 and the revised budget for 2022-23. The meeting was told that revenue of Rs. 47 billion has been generated by energy projects of PEDO and seven hydropower projects of 162 MW have been completed under PEDO while five power-generating projects are in the final stages of completion.

The meeting was informed that work is in progress on the 13.5 MW Chappari Charkhel project and 6.9 MW Mujahideen hydropower projects while work has been started on the 300 MW Balakot Hydropower project with financial assistance from the Asian Development Bank. The work would soon start on the 88 MW Gabral Kalam project and 157 MW Madayn hydropower project.

Participants of the meeting were briefed that the Civil Secretariat, CM House, and CM Secretariat have been converted to solar power while 8000 schools, 187 Basic Health Units, and 4000 masajid have also been converted to solar power. PEDO has also converted 300 Masajid of merged districts to solar power.

PESHAWAR: The caretaker government has allotted the portfolios to 14 ministers of the interim cabinet of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The portfolios to caretaker ministers were assigned by caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan.

According to the details, Barrister Feroze Jamal Kakakhel has been appointed as Caretaker Minister for Information, Culture, and Tourism. Justice (Rtd) Irshad Qaiser has been assigned as Minister In- charge of Jails, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, Zakat.

Caretaker Minister Masood Shah has been given the portfolio of Establishment Administration, and Inter-Provincial Liaison. Dr. Najeebullah has been awarded the Ministry of Science, Technology and Sports.

Amir Abdullah has been given the portfolio of Merged Districts. Asif Rafiq has been assigned the portfolios of Environment and Forestry, Food, and Livestock. Mohammad Qasim Jan has been given the Ministry of Secondary and Higher Education.

Ahmed Rasool Bangash has been allotted the portfolios of Finance and Excise. Dr. Riaz Anwar will be the Advisor to the Caretaker Chief Minister on Health, Welfare, Population, and Labour. Dr. Sarfraz Ali Shah will be the Consultant C&W, Planning and Development, Public Health.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boards of Intermediate & Secondary Education have announced the results of Secondary School Certificate (SSC-1) for the year 2023.

A formal ceremony in this regard was held here at Chief Minister’s House Peshawar with Chief Minister KP Muhammad Azam Khan as chief guest. For the first time in the history of the province matric results of all boards have been announced simultaneously.

According to the results, overall success rate in the examination under the BISE Peshawar was 86%. Adan Shahid of science group has secured the overall first position with 1086 marks.

Under BISE Abbottabad the success rate in examination was 82%. Amama Noor of Science group clinched first position with 1064 marks.

Under BISE Bannu, the success rate in the examination was 87%. Javed Khan from Science group secured overall first position with 1056 marks.

Overall success rate in the examination held under BISE D.I.Khan was 88.07%. According to the results Saira Bibi and Dua Zainab of Science group have clinched the first position in the board with the 1064 marks.

Under BISE Kohat, the overall success rate in the examination was 87.45%. as per details,Syed Adan Raza from science group secured overall first position in the board with 1048 marks.

Under the Malakand board, the success rate remained 91%. Muhammad Farooq of Science group obtained 1083 marks securing the overall first position in the board.

Overall success rate in the examination under BISE Mardan was 87%. Maheen Chand and Sarah Khan with 1075 marks clinched the overall first position.

Similarly overall success rate under BISE Swat was 88%. Jawad Alam of Science secured first position with 1073 marks.

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ghulam Ali has approved the summary of the formation of the provincial cabinet by caretaker Chief Minister Azam Khan.

After the approval, the caretaker provincial ministers will be sworn in today at the Governor House. Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ghulam Ali will administer the oath to the caretaker ministers.

The provincial cabinet will include 9 ministers, 2 advisers and a special assistant.

According to the document, Syed Masood Shah, Feroz Jamal Shah, Justice (R) Irshad Qaiser will be the caretaker ministers.

Apart from this, Ahmad Rasool Bangash, Asif Rafiq, Dr. Najeeb Ullah, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Jan, Justice (R) Arshad Hussain Shah, Syed Amir Abdullah will also be caretaker ministers.

Peshawar: Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Azam Khan has asked for resignation from the provincial cabinet.

According to the sources, resignations have been demanded from the caretaker ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to unsatisfactory performance.

Sources say that most of the caretaker ministers of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also submitted their resignations.

On the other hand, 19 cabinet members have submitted their resignations to the caretaker chief minister, while 8 members have not yet submitted their resignations to the chief minister.

It should be noted that after the dissolution of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Azam Khan was appointed caretaker Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on January 21, 2023, and he took the oath of office on the same day.

On January 26, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ghulam Ali was sworn in as caretaker cabinet at the Governor’s House.

On July 31, the Election Commission asked the Chief Minister to remove ministers with political affiliations from the cabinet.

In a letter to the caretaker chief minister on behalf of the Election Commission, it was said that some ministers, advisers, and special assistants were picked based on political affiliation, and the ministers, assistants, and advisers involved in politics should be de-notified immediately.

The letter stated that the behavior of some ministers, advisers, and special assistants is against the spirit of the caretaker government. The Election Commission ordered that the caretaker chief minister reduce his cabinet to a minimum.

PESHAWAR: The caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan launched Monsoon Tree Plantation campaign 2023 by planting a sapling in the lawn of Chief Minister’s House Peshawar.

Provincial caretaker cabinet members Bakht Nawaz Khan, Barrester Feroz Jamal Kakakhel and relevant higher authorities of forest department were also present on the occasion.

Briefing the chief minister about monsoon plantation drive, it was told that during the campaign, more than 13 million saplings will be planted across the province.

The chief minister was also informed that under the 10 billion tree project, the total area of forests in the province has been increased by 6.3%.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister lauded the efforts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa forest and wildlife department in promoting tree plantation and their preservation adding that it is gratifying that the Forest Department is taking result-oriented steps under a comprehensive strategy to this effect.

“In order to overcome the challenges emerging from environmental pollution, the importance of forest has increased many fold” he remarked.

PESHAWAR: The caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Azam Khan  paid a visit to the District Headquarter Hospital Khar in tribal district Bajaur where he inquired about the health of injured persons of Bajaur bomb blast that had claimed dozens of human lives and left many other injured.

The chief minister met the injured persons one by one and inquired about their health and treatment facilities being provided to them in the hospital. He on the occasion directed the authorities concerned to leave no stone unturned in the treatment and said that he and his team are personally monitoring the whole treatment process.

Moreover, Muhammad Azam khan said that the provincial government stood by the bereaved families adding that he was deeply saddened to learn about the loss of precious human lives due to heartbreaking blast the other day. “Targeting peaceful citizens was a highly inhumane and heinous act that can’t be justified at all” he remarked. While paying tribute to the martyrs, the chief minister said that citizens of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa especially tribal people and our security forces have rendered matchless sacrifices for reinstating and establishing peace in the region; we will not let those sacrifices go in vain, he said.

Meanwhile, the chief minister also met the elders of district Bajaur and heirs of the martyrs and expressed his heartfelt sympathies over the irreparable loss of human lives. He prayed for the higher ranks of martyrs and early recovery of the injured ones.

He made it clear that the purpose of his visits to district Bajaur and Dir Lower was to condole to the bereaved families and to inquire about the health of injured persons adding that ever since this tragic incident was reported, not a single moment has passed in peace and contentment.

Later in the day, the chief minister also paid a short visit to district Dir Lower and inquired after the health of injured persons who are under treatment at Timergara Teaching Hospital. He directed the hospital administration to pay special attention to the treatment of injured persons of Bajaur blast so that they can recover as early as possible.
