PTI activist Khadija Shah released on bail

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf activist and renowned fashion designer Khadija Shah was released on bail.

According to police officials, Khadija Shah was on police remand for her involvement in the May 9 incidents. Khadija Shah has been released due to lack of evidence in the case. Khadija Shah was transferred from Lahore to Quetta on transit remand on December 12.

Khadija Shah was supposed to appear in the Anti-Terrorism Court(ATC) today after completing her 6-day remand, but instead of presenting her in the court, the police released her on bail.

It should be noted that the police had arrested Khadija Shah in the case of arson and vandalism in Jinnah House Lahore.

LAHORE: The detention of Pakistan Tehreak e Insaf(PTI) activist Khadija Shah has been challenged in the Lahore High Court (LHC).

Punjab government, DC Lahore provincial police chief, and superintendent Kot Lakhpat Jail, among others, made respondents.

A petition was filed in the Lahore High Court against the detention of PTI activist and famous designer Khadija Shah.

It has been argued in the petition that Khadija Shah was detained under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) 3. She was involved in more than one case and she was granted bail in one case and arrested in another.

The petitioner said that now the detention orders have been issued on bail and the detention orders of Khadija Shah should be annulled.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Lahore had issued orders to detain famous designer Khadija Shah for 30 days due to concerns about disturbing the law and order situation.

LAHORE: Deputy Commissioner Lahore ordered the detention of fashion designer and social activist Khadija Shah for a period of another 30 days under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore issued the notification of Khadija Shah’s detention, in which it is said that the order to detain Khadija Shah was issued on the recommendation of the Superintendent of Police(SP) Cantt and District Intelligence Branch.

According to the notification, Khadija Shah was involved in violent activities on May 9 and she may disturb the law and order situation again.

It should be noted that Khadija Shah was arrested in the case of arson and vandalism in Jinnah House Lahore.

Earlier on November 15, the Anti-Terrorism Court of Lahore approved the post-arrest bail application against Khadija Shah in the fourth and last case related to May 9.

It should be remembered that Khadija Shah surrendered herself to the Lahore Police on May 23 on the charges of the May 9 riots.

LAHORE: Lahore High Court(LHC) has issued a written decision to grant bail to social activist and designer Khadija Shah in two cases.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Aalia Neelum of Lahore High Court issued a decision in which the court said that Khadija Shah made a controversial tweet which was later deleted and also apologized. She observed that the state is like a mother and the citizen should be given a chance to apologize.

A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court ruled that the courts are there to protect the rights of citizens. The prosecution has no evidence of setting fire to Jinnah House against Khadija Shah. The accused has been arrested since May 25 and the trial has not yet started. The court orders to grant his bail.

The judgment further stated that there are contradictions in the statements of the witnesses in the Askari Tower case and further inquiry is required. The court orders to grant bail in this case too.

It should be noted that Khadija Shah was arrested in the case of arson and vandalism in Jinnah House Lahore and she is imprisoned in Kot Lakhpat Jail.
