Dr Maha Shah Case: Prime suspects declared ‘not guilty’ after DNA tests

Following the results of DNA tests in Dr Maha Shah’s death case, two suspects declared ‘innocent here on Saturday, the police said.

According to the details, Karachi police completed its investigation in the death case of Dr Maha Shah death and cleared two suspects including Dr Irfan Qureshi and Tabish Yasin of rape charges after getting the results of DNA tests.

Junaid Khan has been declared as the prime suspect in the case, as well as included Waqas Rizvi among the suspects.

According to the laboratory report, Dr Maha Shah’s DNA does not match with Dr Irfan and Tabish Yasin’s samples.

According to police reports, the deceased lady stayed at Dr Irfan’s clinic for around 3.5 hours on the day of her death, however, Dr Irfan Qureshi did not meet her due to a busy day. The investigators found that Dr Maha had also complained with Dr Irfan for not meeting her in the exchange of mobile phone messages.

Moreover, the police found no evidence of any immoral activities and drug consumption in the clinic.

Whereas, Maha was addictive to cocaine and other drugs.

The investigation police said that Saad Siddiqui and Tabish had illegally provided a pistol to Dr Maha which she had used to claim her own life.

Is it pertinent to mention here that the female doctor had committed suicide by shooting herself in the head in Defence area of the metropolis on August 19th.

SHC to freeze CM Sindh’s salary if pensions not released in two weeks

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has on Wednesday heard the petition seeking of government employees for immediate release of their pensions.

The SHC has given two weeks’ time to the Sindh government to release the pensions to retired employees.

During the hearing, the SHC remarked that the court will pass an order to freeze the salary of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah if the pensions of govt employees were not released till February 16.

The court will also pass an order to stop the salary of the principal secretary to CM Sindh.

Moreover, the matter will be forwarded to the Sindh governor if pensions were not released in the given time.

The court adjourned the hearing till February 16.

The federal government last week tightened the noose around ghost pensioners and declared bio-metric verification mandatory.

Under the new system, pensioners drawing pensions under the federal treasury rules will undergo biometric verification every year in the months of March and October.
