NEPRA fixes electric vehicles charging tariff at Rs 23.57 unit

ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has fixed basic tariff of electric vehicle charging stations Rs 23.57 per unit as the federal government’s request has been approved.

NEPRA has issued a decision to reduce the tariff and has fixed a Rs 23.5 unit of charging stations of electric vehicles. The tariff has been reduced from Rs 45.55 to Rs 23.57 per unit.

NEPRA’s decision states that the basic tariffs of electric charging stations of vehicles have been reduced by Rs 21.98 per unit.

Meanwhile a request to remove capped margin of Rs 24.44 on vehicle charging stations also approved.

NEPRA said in its decision that according to the government request, the margin has been set aside the market.

It is to be noted here that the federal government had submitted a request to NEPRA for reduction in tariff of charging stations.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has constituted a 10-member joint task force (JTF) to identify those involved in propaganda against the state of Pakistan.

The joint task force formed with the approval of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

According to the notification, a 10-member joint task force has been formed under the chairmanship of Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

The joint task force also includes officers from other agencies. Representatives of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Military Intelligence (MI) and Deputy Inspector General of Police Islamabad are also part of the task force.

Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cybercrime and Joint Director Intelligence Bureau (IB) are also included in the task force. The director of the IT (Ministry of IT), and the joint secretary of the interior and information ministries are also included in the task force.

According to the notification, the Joint Task Force will identify elements spreading false propaganda in view of the recent protests.

The JTF’s responsibilities include (a) identifying the people, organisations, and groups responsible for producing and disseminating false information about political miscreants in Islamabad from November 24–27, including the full media campaign surrounding the issue, (b) tracking down and tracing the people or groups involved in this malicious campaign, whether they are in Pakistan or overseas and (iii) proposing steps to reduce policy gaps.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Government has deployed Pakistan Army federal capital to deal any emergency like situation during the protest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf(PTI).

The Ministry of Interior has issued a notification calling for the army in Islamabad, according to which the Pakistan Army has been called under Article 245 and it has been made clear that those who break the law will be dealt with iron hands.

According to the notification, the Army has also been assigned powers to impose curfew to maintain law and order situation in any area.

Sources indicate that security forces have also been authorised to shoot miscreants and troublemakers on sight.

It should be noted that during the PTI protest in Islamabad, miscreants rammed a vehicle on the Rangers personnel on the Srinagar highway, in a result 4 Rangers personnel were martyred while 5 Rangers and 2 policemen were also seriously injured.

According to security sources, 4 Rangers and 2 policemen have been martyred so far in the attacks on the law enforcement agencies by miscreants, while more than 100 policemen have been injured so far, many of whom are seriously injured.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to receive Hajj  package fees  from intending pilgrims in three installments.

The good news for the pilgrims who wish to go to Hajj Baitullah through the government scheme is that it has been decided to introduce a scheme for receiving the Hajj package in installments in the Hajj Policy.

According to Ministry of Religious Affairs sources, Hajj package fees will be collected in three installments instead of one lump sum. Initially Rs 200,000 will be collected along with Hajj request.

After getting the name in the Hajj balloting,  it will be mandatory to pay another Rs 400,000 , while the remaining amount will be received in the second week of February, however, people suffering from various serious diseases will not be able to go for Hajj.

Ministry of Religious Affairs will receive Hajj applications for the government scheme under the new Hajj policy in mid-November.

Under the government scheme, 89,605 pilgrims will go for Hajj, 5,000 of them will go under the sponsorship scheme and the rest will go under the regular scheme.

Minister of Religious Affairs Chaudhry Salik Hussain will formally announce the Hajj policy next week.

A health policy was prepared for Pakistani Hajj pilgrims according to the conditions of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of Saudi Arabia, according to which people undergoing dialysis will be banned from going to Hajj this year.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased the minimum monthly salary of private sector employees from 32,000 to 36,000 in the budget 2024-25.

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb said in the budget speech said government has also increased the salaries of government employees in the budget.

According to the budget document, in order to improve the purchasing power of civil servants from grades 1 to 16, the salaries are being increased by 25 percent, while the salaries of officers from grades 17 to 22 are being increased by 22 percent.

It is proposed to increase the pension of retired employees by 22 percent.

Meanwhile, government introduced the scheme in the budget for the financial year 2024-25 to bring down the pension expenditure.

The Federal Finance Minister said in the budget speech in the National Assembly that the federal government has an unfunded pension liability of trillions of rupees and the pension expenses are increasing rapidly. Therefore, the rate of increase in these costs needs to be reduced.

The Finance Minister said that the government has formulated a strategy for the reform of this sector on which the consultation has been completed to a large extent.

He said that according to international standards, reforms will be brought in the existing pension scheme, which will result in substantial reduction in the pension liability for the next three decades.

The finance minister added that a contributory pension scheme will be introduced for new employees in which the government’s share will be paid every month. This will ensure that future employees’ pensions are fully funded from the start of their employment.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has created a new agency to address cybercrime, separate from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

A new agency named National Cyber ​​Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has been created to prevent cyber crime related crime in the country.

The notification said that the investigation agency of the NCCIA established under Section 29 of the Act, the NCCIA would exercise the powers conferred under the Act.

FIA will cease to function as an investigative agency designated under this Act, all personnel, cases, inquiries, investigations will be transferred from FIA to NCCIA.

The notification states that the government will appoint a Director General (DG) of NCCIA for a term of two years. This will be looked after by the Ministry of Home Affairs and NCCIA will be the designated agency for international cooperation.

All crimes related to cybercrime will be referred to the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency. All cases related to cybercrime will be registered and prosecuted by the NCCIA itself.

The notification states that NCCIA will have its own police stations and officers will be given special training on cyber crimes.

ISLAMABAD: The federal government reconstituted the Exit Control List (ECL) committee of the cabinet.

It has been decided not to give the headship of the ECL committee to any federal minister.

In the absence of the Prime Minister, the Law Minister will head the committee.
