ICAO team completes safety audit of CAA

KARACHI: The security audit team of International Civil Aviation Organization(ICAO) has completed its visit to Pakistan.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) spokesperson, a four member team of the audit team, led by Oscar Anibal Rubio, completed its trip to Pakistan and visited the headquarters of the Pakistani CAA where it met its director general Khaqan Murtaza and the deputy DG regulatory.

According to the spokesperson of CAA, the audit team reviewed the Directorate of Civil Aviation Security for 5 days, during which they made observations regarding the implementation of protocols in the documents for another 4 days, all the aviation security departments of Jinnah International Airport Karachi, including the airport, ASF, domestic and international airlines checked.

The IQ security team also visited the passport office during the audit and after the briefing they seemed satisfied and impressed with the procedure.

The IQ team also interacted with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) ​​immigration staff and examined their working procedures.

The current full security audit was the first in-site full-scale audit since the 2019 partial audit.

CAA starts implementing NCOC guidelines after surge in Covid-19 cases

KARACHI: Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CCA) has started implementation on the instructions proved by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) at major airports of the country after surge in Covid-19 cases in certain parts of the world.

These instructions include the screening of 2% of all international flights arriving in Pakistan. The purpose of this screening is to identify and isolate any potential Covid-19 cases among incoming passengers.

Additionally, the airports are required to carry out fumigation of passenger lounges at least once during the day.

This measure aims to ensure a clean and sanitized environment for passengers and staff, reducing the risk of virus transmission.

The airports have been further instructed to provide full cooperation to the Border Health Services staff.

This cooperation includes facilitating their work and ensuring that all necessary protocols and guidelines are followed.

These measures are part of the national efforts to control the spread of Covid-19 and protect public health.

KARACHI: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has decided to impose a ban on smoking and the use of all kinds of tobacco products at Karachi International Airport.

The CAA issued a circular to notify a ban on smoking and the use of all tobacco products including pan, chalia, and gutka on the premises of Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.

The CAA administration has decided to take action against those who chew pan chalaia, smoke and eat snuff inside the terminal building of Karachi Airport. The ban will be applied from November 6.

In this regard, strict orders have also been issued to the employees of all companies including CAA and airlines working at Karachi Airport.

Airport entry passes of violating employees will be canceled.  Airports Security Force(ASF) and CAA Vigilance have been directed to keep strict vigilance.

ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued a tender for the outsourcing of Islamabad Airport.

Earlier, the government had decided to outsource Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi airports.

The outsourcing of Islamabad Airport for 15 years has been decided and Civil Aviation Authority has issued a tender for outsourcing of Islamabad Airport.

As per CAA, a fee of $5,000 should be submitted along with the tender for outsourcing.

Applications for outsourcing have been directed to be submitted by November 8.

It should be noted that Federal Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq had said that Islamabad Airport is being outsourced for 15 years but no employee will be unemployed.

He said that outsourcing does not mean that airports are being sold. He added that runways and navigational systems are not being outsourced. He said after Islamabad it will be the turn of Lahore and Karachi airports.

KARACHI: Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has declared Multan as an alternate airport of Karachi in case of emergency landing instead of Nawabshah Airport (Shaheed Benazirabad).

Earlier, In case of emergency, flights from Karachi Airport landed at Nawab Shah Airport. According to Aviation sources, Nawabsah’s status as an alternate  airport to Karachi has been terminated.

Now, in any emergency, flights from Karachi will have to divert to Multan. According to the sources, flights from Karachi will now land in Multan even in case of any emergency or bad weather.

Spokesperson Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed Multan Airport as an alternate airport.

It should be noted that in March this year, the Civil Aviation Authority decided to close the Nawabshah Airport suddenly. CAA said that flight operations will remain suspended for two months.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique on Thursday took notice of the problems faced by the passengers due to a lack of cleaning arrangements at the Islamabad International Airport authorities and has ordered an investigation on the issue, BOL News reports. 

According to the details, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Director security Air Commodore Shahid Qadir and Additional Director Operations Naveed Khan are members of the investigation team to review the arrangements at the airport. The CAA investigation team will investigate the reasons for the poor sanitation arrangements at Islamabad Airport and will also investigate the deficiencies in the sanitation system and the monitoring system.

Moreover, the investigation team of CAA will also identify those responsible for the poor arrangements at the Islamabad International Airport.

The investigating team has been ordered to complete the investigation into the poor sanitation arrangements at Islamabad Airport and submit a report within 48 hours by the ministry.

It should be noted that BOL News has obtained a copy of the notification regarding the investigation into the poor sanitation arrangements at the Islamabad International Airport.

A few days ago, Federal Aviation Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique made a detailed visit to Quetta Airport, where he reviewed the passenger facilities at Quetta Airport and issued orders to improve them further.

Khawaja Saad Rafique said that national airline PIA is operating flights to Quetta from three major cities of the country: Islamabad, Karachi, and Lahore.
