Another boat carrying 65 passengers capsizes in Libya

ISLAMABAD: Another boat carrying 65 passengers including Pakistani nationals capsiezed in Libya, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) confirmed on Monday.

A boat carrying Pakistani nationals near the Libyan coast has been met an accident in Libya, the Foreign Office said.

According to the Pakistani Embassy in Libya, a boat carrying 65 passengers was in capsized near the port of Marsa Dela.

The Foreign Office said that the Pakistani embassy team in Tripoli has been dispatched to Zawiya Hospital, the Pakistani embassy team will assist local authorities.

A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry said that the Crisis Management Unit has been mobilized in this regard and details of Pakistanis affected by the boat crash are being collected.

According to a foreign news agency, 10 bodies were recovered after a boat sank from the Marsa Dela port.

According to Libya Red Crescent, the bodies of the migrants were recovered from the Marsa Della port in the city of Angle on Thursday.

According to Liben Media, Red Crescent did not indicate the cause of the boat sinking and the identity of the passengers.

On the other hand, a vessel carrying approximately 65 passengers capsized near the port of Marsa Dela, North West of Zawiya city, Libya with the Pakistan embassy there trying to ascertain the identities of affected Pakistanis.

“Our Embassy in Tripoli has informed that a vessel carrying approximately 65 passengers capsized near the port of Marsa Dela, North West of Zawiya city, Libya,” according to a Foreign Office.

The Pakistan Embassy in Tripoli immediately dispatched a team to Zawiya Hospital to assist the local authorities in identification of the deceased. The Embassy is also trying to ascertain further details of the Pakistani affectees.

KARACHI: Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) is planning to introduce new strict entry rules and requirements for visitors to ensure fool proof security at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

The decision has been taken following a terrorist attack on Chinese nationals near Karachi airport.

In this regard, the citizens who come to Karachi Airport to pick up or drop off passengers must also carry a copy of the tickets now.

It has been made mandatory for the citizens visiting to Karachi Airport to show their tickets when checked by the security personnel.

Now 4 citizens along with one passenger will be able to enter the airport, citizens who do not have a copy of the ticket will not be allowed to enter the airport premises.

The Pakistan Airports Authority has taken measures for security, apart from this, the citizens coming  to pick up the passengers at the Karachi Airport will have to carry the CNIC along with the ticket.

Pakistan Airports Authority sources say that in view of the recent terrorist attack near Karachi Airport, new measures have been decided regarding the passengers, this measure has been taken keeping in mind the security.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Government has made biometric verification mandatory for passengers going abroad from Pakistan.

The federal government has decided to install biometric machines at all airports across the country taking an important step to tighten the border security.

The Ministry of Interior has made biometric verification of international passengers mandatory. A letter has been issued to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on behalf of the Ministry of Interior to take immediate steps.

The Ministry of Interior said that biometric authentication will make it impossible for wanted accused to travel.

Biometric machines should be installed at international immigration counters at airports to ensure effective screening of passengers with biometrics.

The initiative aims to further improve security and bring it in line with international standards.

LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday strongly condemned the horrible incident of killing of passengers of a bus after their kidnapping on the National Highway-40 in District Noshki, Balochistan.

ISLAMABAD: The immigration cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested 10 passengers returning to Pakistan over forgery of visas.

According to FIA, the accused involved in the forgery of visas had arrived at Karachi Airport from Dubai, among these accused are Asher Raza, Hasnain Ashraf, Owais Ullah, Mustanasir Iqbal, Ameer Hamza, Zeeshan Azam, Bilal Hassan, Faizan Hassan, Arsalan Afzal and Ali Hamza. The accused belong to Hafizabad and Mandi Bahauddin.

According to the authorities, fake visas were affixed on the passports of the accused, holograms, watermarks and other features were not displayed on the visas while the stamps on the visas of the accused were also tampered.

LAHORE: Spokesperson Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has issued fog updates at airports for passengers traveling by air.

Similarly, due to heavy fog, several trains running between Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and other cities across the country were delayed for up to seven hours.

Spokesperson to the CAA, the visibility limit for flights at Lahore Airport is limited to 50 meters due to which the flights will be delayed.

According to Civil Aviation Authority, two-way flights PK 739 and PK 740 of PIA from Lahore to Jeddah are delayed due to fog, Air-blue flight PA 413 from Sharjah to Lahore, PIA flight PK 230 from Muscat to Lahore has also been delayed.

CAA Spokesman directed contact the concerned airline first before leaving for the airports.Apart from this, Turkish Air’s two-way flights from Lahore to Istanbul TK 714 and TK 715 have been canceled due to fog.

Spokesperson CAA said flights have been diverted to Islamabad as the visibility limit is up to 600 meters due to fog in Multan. The PIA flight PK 180 from Dubai to Sialkot has been diverted to Islamabad.

PIA flight PK768 from Jeddah to Lahore, and PIA flights PK848 and PK748 from Madinah to Lahore have also landed in Islamabad.

It should be noted that the passengers of these flights have been sent to their respective cities in buses provided by the airline.

Railways Spokesperson said Tezgam Express coming from Karachi was delayed for five hours, Millat Express four hours, Pakistan Express seven hours, Pak Business Express six hours, Karakoram Express two hours, Karachi Express three hours, Allama Iqbal Express three hours, Khyber Mail Express three hours, Jaffar Express two hours and Farid Express was delayed for three hours.
