TikTok Releases Statement After The Ban On The App Uplifted In Pakistan

Pakistani TikTokers are happy as the ban on the app has been uplifted across the country today (1st April 2021).

The ByteDance owned app released a statement in which it said,

“We are happy to revive the TikTok app in Pakistan. The restoration of TikTok is a testament to TikTok’s commitment to promoting a safe and positive online community.”

The video-sharing app further said in a statement that,

“TikTok has provided a platform for talented Pakistani creators. TikTok administration is committed to ensuring all steps are taken through meaningful dialogue and cooperation with the PTA.”

“TikTok PTA is hopeful for further investment in Pakistan by providing a stable environment. TikTok is committed to keeping important economic opportunities open for Pakistani creators.”

On the other hand, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said in a tweet,

“In pursuance to the orders of the Peshawar High Court, PTA has issued directions to the service providers to unblock access to the TikTok App.”

However, the TikTok App management has been told to ensure that vulgar and objectionable content are to be made inaccessible in accordance with the PECA provisions and directions of the Honorable Court.

TikTok star Hareem Shah has upheld the Peshawar High Court’s decision to ban the video-sharing app TikTok. She said, after several warnings, many people have lost their lives just to make a few seconds video.

“We have raised our voices against the ban imposed on TikTok earlier. However, many people have lost their lives just to create a TikTok video”.

According to the details, the TikTok star said the High Court was forced to take such a decision as people were misusing the app. Blaming the other TikTok users, Hareem said,

“When people find something new, they start misusing it instead of using it wisely”.

Sending a message to her fans, Hareem Shah said that whenever the government makes a decision, it does so by keeping us [people] in mind. If we want to make a video, we should make something beneficial.

PTA Banned Across Pakistan:

After the announcement to ban TikTok in Peshawar, the Peshawar High Court (PHC) has now ordered to ban the application across the country.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has declared directives to all service providers to immediately block access to the TikTok app across Pakistan.

“In respectful compliance to the orders of the Peshawar High Court, PTA has issued directions to the service providers to immediately block access to the TikTok app. During the hearing of a case today, the PHC has ordered for the blocking of App,” the tweet by PTA read.

PHC Order To Ban TikTok

The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday has ordered to ban the popular video sharing application ‘TikTok’ in Pakistan.

According to the details, a hearing was conducted on the petition seeking a ban on TikTok.

Director-General Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Deputy Attorney General, petitioner’s counsel Nazish Muzaffar and Sara Ali appeared in the court.

During the proceedings, Chief Justice Peshawar High Court Justice Qaiser Rasheed Khan remarked that the videos uploaded on TikTok are against our ‘cultural’ and ‘moral values.

DG PTA told the court that they have requested TikTok authorities to remove inappropriate and obscene content, but the management has taken no action over it.

PTA DG also informed that 4.5 million videos are uploaded daily on the application in Pakistan alone.

CJ Peshawar High Court remarked that “Till the time TikTok authorities do not cooperate with you to stop immoral content, we are imposing a ban on this application.”

“The application is affecting the youth most. Reports we get about TikTok are regrettable,” the top judge of Peshawar High Court said.
