Austin Butler spotted with fiance Kaia Gerber after Oscars

Austin Butler
  • The couple was photographed unwinding and relaxing.
  • Pictures obtained by TMZ show Gerber.
  • Butler was nominated for his highly acclaimed performance as Elvis Presley.

After a busy award season, Austin Butler and fiancée Kaia Gerber went on a romantic getaway to Mexico.

The couple was photographed unwinding and relaxing at an oceanfront resort in Cabo on March 16, 2023. Pictures obtained by TMZ show Gerber, who was dressed in a tiny bikini, at one point relaxing on a lounge chair and having a swim.

The Elvis actor was reading a novel while lounging by the pool at the same time. The two were then seen getting into a golf cart and driving off to have a picnic.

Following Butler’s loss to Brenden Fraser for Best Actor at the 95th Academy Awards, the pair went on vacation. Butler was nominated for his highly acclaimed performance as Elvis Presley in the Baz Luhrmann-directed biopic, whereas Fraser was nominated for The Whale.

Gerber, 21, was by Butler’s side despite the fact that Butler might have dropped the Oscar. She not only attended the Vanity Fair Oscar Party with him, but she was also present when he won the Golden Globe.

Back in January, after winning the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama, the actor was seen on camera kissing Cindy Crawford’s daughter ardently backstage.

Additionally, the couple engaged in more PDA in May 2018 while watching the opening of the Baz Luhrmann-directed movie at the Cannes Film Festival.

Vijayendra Prasad responds to RRR bringing India its first Oscar ever

RRR
  • Writer-filmmaker Vijayendra Prasad, who had written the story of SS Rajamouli-directed RRR, feels a single Oscar win.
  • On Monday, Naatu Naatu from RRR became the first song from an Indian production to bag an Oscar.
  • Also read:At the 2023 Oscars on March 12, Naatu Naatu was performed live and the performance earned a standing ovation.

One Oscar triumph shouldn’t be seen as the pinnacle, according to writer-director Vijayendra Prasad, who wrote the script for the SS Rajamouli-directed film RRR. This is because there are so many other categories for the Academy Awards. Naatu Naatu from RRR made history on Monday by becoming the first song from an Indian production to win an Oscar. Read further:

Naatu Naatu was sung live at the 2023 Oscars on March 12 (March 13 in India), and the performance received a standing ovation. A cheer went up every time actor Deepika Padukone stated Naatu Naatu or RRR as she introduced the performance.

Prasad discussed his reaction to RRR giving India its first-ever Oscar in an interview with Asianet Telugu. He responded, “This is not the pinnacle,” when asked if winning the Oscar was the ultimate recognition. The Academy Awards have a huge number of categories. Take a look at the movie Everything Everywhere All at Once, which received 11 nominations. Several categories it won in. As hard as they work, so must we. Other categories should be our (Indian cinema’s) focus as well.

“We’re blessed that RRR movie is the first feature film to bring INDIA’s first ever Oscar in the Best Song Category with Naatu Naatu,” said a tweet from the official RRR Twitter account following the historic victory at the Oscars. This bizarre situation is beyond words to convey. (emoticon of hands folded) I dedicate this to all of our incredible global followers. MANY THANKS! (emoticons with red hearts) JAI HIND! Composer MM Keeravani made the following statement in his acceptance speech after receiving the Oscar for Naatu Naatu: “There was only one wish on my mind…RRR has to win…the pride of every Indian…and it must place me on top of the globe.”

Naatu Naatu rose to prominence over the past several months on a global scale. The song got the crowds dancing in the aisles and cheering at all of its most recent screenings in the US and other nations. The fictional story RRR, which was released in theaters last March, is set in the 1920s, just before independence. When they unite to take on British officials, RRR follows two characters who are loosely inspired on the real-life Telugu revolutionary figures Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan).

However, others sided with Kimmel and mentioned that the host’s pronunciation was rather correct. A Twitter user wrote, “Jimmy Kimmel is the only person to ever say Rihanna’s name correctly on TV.”

“Jimmy kimmel pronounces rihanna like he’s from nigeria that might actually even be the correct way to say it,” wrote another.

  • A celebrity public relations expert stated that their presence would have only gotten them bad press.

The absence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle from the 95th Academy Awards was “no surprise,” as their presence would have raised many questions.

After fans questioned why the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did not attend the Oscars, a celebrity public relations expert stated that their presence would have only gotten them bad press.

“It makes little sense for Harry and Meghan to be at the Oscars,” Carla Speight told the outlet. “Their documentary wasn’t nominated.”

“Meghan’s not currently acting and I don’t think Harry has any plans to either, though stranger things have happened with them recently.”

Speight added, “If they showed up to the Oscars, it would raise many questions as to why and ultimately it wouldn’t be a good look for them as it makes no sense.”

She went on to say that celebrities only attend award shows for three reasons.

“Either they’ve been nominated, are networking or have a project they want to plug,” Speight said

“Harry and Meghan don’t have any of those reasons to be there, so it’s no surprise they weren’t there,” the PR guru added.

Amitabh Bachchan celebrates as India wins 2 Oscar Awards

Amitabh Bachchan
  • India won two Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards, making it a historic day for Indian filmmakers and the audience.
  • Amitabh Bachchan wrote on Twitter that it was a recognition long overdue.
  • Elephant Whisperers both won Oscars, making it a historic day.

Amitabh Bachchan, a seasoned performer, responded to India winning two Oscars at the 95th Academy Awards. Amitabh said on Twitter on Tuesday: “T 4585: We triumph! We achieve two victories! We triumph for our nation and people! We won !! India has planted its flag overseas, in the phrase Bharat ka jhanda gaad diya (India has done so)! OSCAR 95.” A landmark day for Indian filmmakers and the public was marked by the Oscar victories of RRR and The Elephant Whisperers.
Amitabh posted on his blog, saying: “We finally received the credit we deserved after taking the reward. He who creates also delivers, and eventually he did.
But are we really aware of the attention we receive, even when it is well-deserved? Yes, we are not taken into consideration.”

He further remarked, “But those who receive make us proud because we are not less than anyone else and are not ruled and governed by an alien nation. And in recent times, we have discovered—or rather, I have discovered—that the factors perpetuating the Colonial system of control are being discussed, contested, and given public consideration for their sufficiency and merit. Let’s see. There is still a long way to go. Yet, I do think that a small portion of society does and has believed in everything being said both internally and externally.”

In the Original Song category of the Oscars, RRR’s well-known song Naatu Naatu triumphed over well-known performers like Lady Gaga and Rihanna. Composer MM Keeravani and lyricist Chandrabose accepted the award on behalf of the team. The major actors Jr. NTR and Ram Charan watched from the audience as singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava performed the song on stage. Director SS Rajamouli was also present.

The Best Documentary Short Film award went to The Elephant Whisperers. Kartiki Gonsalves, the film’s director, and Guneet Monga, its producer, took the stage to accept the award. The story centres around a family who adopts a child from a shelter and then raises it as their own.

Oscars 2023: Will Smith slap Incident mentioned by Jimmy Kimmel

Oscars 2023
  • Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at Will Smith’s infamous incident by pointing out the carpet’s new colour.
  • The red carpet is the symbol of any celebrity-studded event in show business.
  • The Oscars 2023 preparations are currently underway.

Ahead of the Oscars in 2023, host Jimmy Kimmel poked fun at Will Smith’s infamous incident by pointing out the carpet’s new colour.

The red carpet is the symbol of any celebrity-studded event in show business, but the Oscars 2023 have other plans. For the first time, the Academy Awards will use a champagne-colored carpet, breaking with decades of tradition. While the reason for the carpet’s change in colour is being debated, Jimmy Kimmel has a rather amusing explanation involving Will Smith’s infamous incident.

One of the most memorable moments from the Oscars 2022 was Smith slapping comedian Chris Rock in the face after the latter made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s baldness. Despite the fact that the infamous incident occurred a year ago, discussions and jokes about it have never stopped.

The Oscars 2023 preparations are currently underway, and host Jimmy Kimmel is keeping everyone up to date. The upcoming Oscars ceremony will be the host’s third. In a recent video, Kimmel stood outside the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, discussing the decision to change the carpet’s colour. Kimmel discussed the ongoing debate over whether there will be any trouble at the Oscars this year, and expressed his hope that there will be none.

He further took a dig at Will Smith’s slap gate incident and joked the champagne colour signifies the award show will not have any bloodshed. Jimmy Kimmel said, “But if there is, I think the decision to go with a champagne carpet rather than a red carpet shows how confident we are that no blood will be shed.” He added how such a thing can only happen in Hollywood and said, “I’ve never really done play-by-play for carpeting before.”

While there are several theories about the Oscars 2023 carpet’s colour change, it appears to be a creative change. Lisa Love and Met Gala creative director Raul Avila advised on the decision and ensured that the carpet covered the entire floor. Furthermore, Love stated that they wanted to change the show from a day event to a night event.

Ram Charan and Jr NTR claim they won’t perform a stage dance to Naatu Naatu at the 2023 Oscars

Naatu Naatu
  • Jr NTR and Ram Charan will perform the iconic song Naatu Naatu at the Oscars, composed by MM Keeravani.
  • It is the first Indian song to be nominated at the Oscars.
  • He also said that it will not be the actor, but India who will walk down the red carpet.

The 95th Academy Awards are this Sunday, and actor Jr. NTR has reacted to a query about whether he and his RRR co-star Ram Charan will perform the famous song Naatu Naatu on stage. In a recent interview, Jr. NTR discussed the song’s performance by MM Keeravani, Rahul Sipligunj, and Kaala Bhairava. He added that India, not the actor, would be the one to walk the red carpet.
The popular song from the SS Rajamouli-directed historical action saga RRR is called Naatu Naatu. MM Keeravani is the composer of the song. It has been put forth for the upcoming Oscars’ Best Original Song category. RRR is the first Indian movie to be nominated for an Oscar Award in more than 20 years. “Naatu Naatu”

When asked if he would be dancing to Naatu Naatu during the event, Jr. NTR told KTLA, “I don’t think that’s happening. I eagerly anticipated it happening. But regrettably, we were unable to practice. We don’t want to be on the biggest platform in the world without being ready. Hence, we were busy. I was busy, and Charan may have been busy as well due to his numerous prior engagements at home. Thus, I don’t believe we will be performing; instead, the song will be sung by our music director (MM) Keeravani, Rahul (Sipligunj), and my brother (Kaala) Bhairava. I believe it will be enjoyable for me to see from the audience.

I am ready for it,” Jr. NTR said when asked about walking on the Oscars red carpet. I don’t believe NTR Jr., I don’t believe I will walk that carpet, and I don’t believe Komaram Bheem will either. I believe India will be the one to walk that carpet. I believe it will involve the entire country, and we will carry it in our hearts. We are going to walk with our country in our hearts, whether it is me, Rajamouli, or my co-star Ram Charan. To that, I am looking forward.

RRR centers on two real-life Indian rebels from the 1920s: Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). The story takes place before India’s independence. Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, and Alia Bhatt all have significant parts in the movie. On March 12, the Oscars ceremony will take place in Los Angeles.

Academy investigates indie film’s surprising Oscar nomination

Oscar
  • The Academy had received numerous calls and emails following the nomination.
  • There was a heated discussion among filmmakers over whether the rules had been broken.
  • The Academy announced on Friday that it will be reviewing its procedures, but it made no specific mention of the movie.

Days after a small independent film shocked industry observers with a stunning nomination to Hollywood’s most prestigious awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Friday that it was starting a study of Oscar’s campaigning.

When “To Leslie” lead Andrea Riseborough’s name came on the list of contenders for Best Actress, the movie had only made $27,000 at the box office.

Riseborough beat out expected front-runners Viola Davis (“The Woman King”) and Danielle Deadwyler to win the award for her portrayal of a Texas single mother battling alcoholism (“Till”).

After an aggressive, last-minute social media campaign on her behalf by famous pals like Edward Norton, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Sarah Paulson, she received the nod.

According to the film industry publication Variety, the Academy had received numerous calls and emails following the nomination, and there was a heated discussion among filmmakers over whether the rules had been broken.

The Academy announced on Friday that it will be reviewing its procedures, but it made no specific mention of the movie.

According to a statement, “The Academy is committed to providing an inclusive awards process, and it is our mission to ensure that the Awards competition is conducted in a fair and ethical manner.”

“We are reviewing the campaign practises surrounding this year’s nominees to make sure no rules were broken and to determine whether any adjustments to the rules are necessary in the new era of social media and digital communication.

We promote sincere grass-roots initiatives for exceptional performances because we are confident in the fairness of our nomination and vote processes.

The 9,500 members of the Academy, many of whom have won the Oscar before, cast their votes to choose the winners.

The Academy is made up of 17 branches, including actors, directors, producers, costume designers, and more. Each branch selects the nominees in their own fields of competence.

Just over 200 votes are required for a nomination in this category to join the shortlist, given that the actors’ chapter has about 1,300 members.

Billboards in Los Angeles are covered with movie commercials in the months leading up to the Oscars, which will be hosted this year on March 12. Studios do this in an effort to influence voters.

A variety of gatherings and activities are also held with the intention of creating a buzz.

Campaigns are typically the domain of large studios because they are frequently organised by professional businesses and are typically expensive.

However, “To Leslie” wasn’t on this circuit.

The “Titanic” actress Frances Fisher reportedly urged her fellow Academy members to nominate Riseborough in a social media post on Friday, according to Variety.

She posted on Instagram, according to Variety, “To my fellow Performers in The Academy – According to Pete Hammond writing for Deadline, Andrea Riseborough may secure an Oscar nomination if 218 (out of 1,302) actors in the Actors Branch nominated her in first place for Best Actress.”

Oscar-nominated Pakistani movie “Joyland” is releasing In India

Joyland
  • Sadiq’s film Joyland would have a global release, including in India.
  • Joyland’s production crew has confirmed that it will debut in India.
  • Sadiq’s creation unexpectedly managed to make it to the Oscars as Pakistan’s official entry.

Given how Indian authorities treated Bilal Lashari’s The Legend of Maula Jatt, the prospects of any Pakistani film being released in India were small; yet, there is one cinematic classic Joyland that will soon be released in the neighbouring country.

Joyland, directed by Saim Sadiq, is one of the best works ever produced in Pakistan and is breaking all rules.

Variety claimed that Sadiq’s film Joyland, which had its US premiere at the Sundance Film Festival, would have a global release, including in India. The Oscars-shortlisted film Joyland’s production crew has confirmed that it will debut in India (distributed by PVR). In addition, Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol, which was released approximately ten years ago, was the last movie to be released in India before Sadiq’s most recent offering.

Sadiq’s creation unexpectedly managed to make it to the Oscars as Pakistan’s official entry and was also shortlisted despite the criticism and a restriction on theatrical release in some locations throughout the nation.

Before Joyland’s production, Sadiq talked about his choice and said: “The opportunity to represent Pakistan at the Oscars with a movie that I really feel is an accurate and sympathetic depiction of who we are as a nation fills me with awe, gratitude, and excitement. The triumphs and tragedies of these characters should encourage empathy in viewers both in Pakistan and beyond. We shall require a lot of prayers and well wishes from our folks in the upcoming months as we travel the path ahead.”

The director, age 31, continued, “We frequently bemoan the fact that, despite the existence of numerous outstanding artists across all genres, Pakistani art has continued to be woefully underrepresented in the global art scene. But this year has already been different. So I’ll take this opportunity to feel optimistic. I thank the selecting committee and wish Pakistan and Joyland the best of luck.”

Sania Saeed, Junejo Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Rasti Farooq, Salman Peerzada, and Sohail Samir are all featured in the ensemble cast of Joyland. Recently appointed executive producers for the movie are Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai and actor-director Riz Ahmed.

He revealed earlier this week that he had joined Joyland, Pakistan’s Oscar entry, as an executive producer. He expressed his delight over the collaboration on Instagram. “Being a part of Joyland makes us at Left Handed Films extremely proud. Go left is our adage, and Saim Sadiq’s original movie does just that “the Emmy Award-winning actor wrote.

“Joyland is ground-breaking. And it’s easy to get lost in all the ways that it is; the first Pakistani film at Cannes, the first award-winner, the first to be Oscar-shortlisted, and a queer love story that has overcome multiple obstacles to its release,” said In a statement to Variety announcing the agreement, Ahmed was joined by Left Handed Films executive Allie Moore.
