After attending the Oscars, where RRR’s Naatu Naatu won Best Original Music, Ram Charan celebrated his return to India. At the Delhi Airport on Friday, the actor was met by a sea of admirers. Together with his wife Upasana, the actor attended the Oscars ceremony and walked the red carpet with Jr. NTR and director SS Rajamouli.

At the 95th Academy Awards, RRR made history by becoming the first Indian production to win an Oscar for Original Song. Naatu Naatu was played live at the 2023 Oscars, and it received a standing ovation. Every time actress Deepika Padukone mentioned the performance, the audience cheered on the stage.

Composer MM Keeravani made the following statement in his acceptance speech after receiving the Oscar for Naatu Naatu: “There was only one wish on my mind…RRR has to win…the pride of every Indian…and it must place me on top of the globe.” The Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles served as the site of the 95th Academy Awards ceremony.

When Richard Carpenter of The Carpenters fame gave MM Keeravani, an Oscar-winning composer, and Chandrabose, a lyricist, a special video, they couldn’t have asked for a finer present. Richard sang a cover of The Carpenters’ On Top of the World for team RRR, especially Keeravani and Chandrabose, whose song Naatu Naatu won the Oscar for Best Original Song, in the video that he posted on his Instagram page.

On Top of the World, which has the lines “We are on the top of the world for your winning creation and we hope you know how proud of you we are,” was performed by Richard and his family. According to Raj Kapoor, the Naatu Naatu song from RRR was meant to be performed live by actors Ram Charan and Jr. NTR at the 95th Academy Awards. At the Oscars ceremony, Raj was one of the producers. He claimed that the two actors pulled out for a variety of reasons, one of which being that they did not feel secure enough to execute the dance live on stage.
Originally, the idea was to have Ram Charan and Jr. NTR perform on stage with a legion of dancers as the song’s original vocalists, Kaala Bhairava and Rahul Sipligunj, sang live. A group of dancers at the ceremony joined the vocalists on stage.

Raj stated in an interview with The Academy that the two leads and singers Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava were originally intended to be the stars of the song. The performance was incredibly helpful in getting their crew working permits so they could travel to the US and take part in the performance. We conducted late-night Zoom calls with the choreography crew in Mumbai and Los Angeles after MM Keeravaani approved the musical cut. With the Indian team, we discussed casting decisions, ideas for costume design, and stage designs.

Furthermore, he said, “We learned that Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao Jr. would be attending the Oscars in late February, but they didn’t feel comfortable performing.

Raj added, ” “The original song took two months to workshop, practice, and record over a 15-day period. Professional dancers worked on the Naatu Naatu performance for the Oscars in Los Angeles for a total of 18 hours of rehearsal time and one 90-minute camera blocking.”

At a reception that director SS Rajamouli recently held at his Los Angeles home to honor the Oscar win that the musician got for the song Naatu Naatu from Rajamouli’s film RRR, pianist MM Keeravani performed the piano and mesmerized guests.

Ram Charan, the hero of the RRR, attended the Oscars with his wife Upasana Kamineni Konidela, who released videos from the celebration at Rajamouli’s residence and disclosed that Keeravani performed the piano there.

In one of the videos she provided, the musician could be seen playing the piano while seated, as the audience applauded and encouraged him. Ram Charan was also spotted taking out his phone to take a photo of the occasion. “We’re all on top of the world – thank you @mmkeeravani Garu #rrr family,” Upsana wrote in the caption of the video she shared.

Sources claim that Lucien couldn’t help but gush about RRR and especially loved Jr NTR’s tiger chase scene in the movie.

Oscars 2023: SS Rajamouli talks about Naatu Naatu’s choreography, costumes

Many supporters are hoping that RRR’s song Naatu Naatu will win Best Original Song at the Oscars event on March 12. Recently, director SS Rajamouli went back and broke down the process of creating the song to explain how hard the crew worked to make the wildly popular song. The Telugu movie song was penned by Chandrabose and composed by MM Keeravani. The dance number’s singers, Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava, will perform the song at the 95th Academy Awards on Sunday.

In Kiev, Ukraine, at the Presidential Palace, Naatu Naatu was filmed. Although Rajamouli had intended to film the song in India, his plans ultimately fell through. His team traveled to Kiev after locating the ideal venue for the song. The director revealed that in order to make the song look even more authentic and embrace the setting, he was quite particular about including real dancers and musicians in the backdrop.

Prem Rakshith, who has previously collaborated with Rajamouli, lead actors Ram Charan, and Jr. NTR, choreographed the now-viral dance moves. Rajamouli spoke with Vanity Fair about the making of the well-known song starring Ram and NTR. For each of them, [Prem] gave one of the most unforgettable numbers, he claimed. He is fully aware of their fashion sense and body language. He is fully aware of what their supporters want from them. He must develop a style that will work for both of the performers, who are required to dance together despite each having their own distinct dance technique. I wanted him to dance in a simple style because I also wanted him to be able to figure it out.

Prem and Rama Rajamouli, Rajamouli’s wife and a costume designer, took sure to incorporate the actors’ clothing into the dance moves as well. The costume staff had to save two or three clothes for the dancers because they would need to meticulously clean them after dancing on a dirty floor. Prem also came up with the brilliant plan to involve Ram and NTR in the creative usage of the suspenders. While this was a humorous dance number, the director had informed Prem that it also doubled as a battle scene for the purposes of the movie’s plot.

The director continued, “For me, Naatu Naatu is one of the reasons I think it is such a hit because it is not just the music or the dancing, but because there is a wonderful story in itself. Inside those 10 minutes, which include the lead sequence from Naatu Naatu and the entire song, is the entire plot of RRR. Nobody in America or the rest of the world truly understands the song’s lyrics, yet the lyrics are catchy and flow well. I believe Chandrabose, the lyricist, deserves praise.

Rajamouli continued by saying that in addition to being “exceptionally skilled dancers,” the principal actors also successfully conveyed the song’s nuanced emotions to the viewers in the manner that he had envisioned. Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris all appear in the March 25, 2022, global release of RRR.
