Nearly two months after its theatrical release, Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan is now available on Prime Video. The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer delivered on Walk 25 and turned into the greatest Hindi hits ever, gathering more than ₹1000 crore. Four additional scenes were included in the OTT version of the movie, and fans have been sharing and discussing them on social media.

The titular Pathaan of Shah Rukh Khan is shown being tortured by the Russians in one of the scenes. He is shown strapped to a chair as an officer removes his nails in a particularly grisly scene. Pathaan shouts in distress as the official says, “Batado Pathaan, tum jaante ho, end mein sab bolte hain (Make some noise Pathaan, you realize everybody shouts out eventually).” “Teri Hindi bahut acchi hai,” Pathaan jokes with him. Recently, director Siddharth Anand spoke out in response to critics who have compared his most recent film, Pathaan, to Hollywood productions. Shah Rukh Khan makes his acting debut in this movie, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The director claimed that since Pathaan wasn’t a typical Bollywood movie and has remained 2023’s largest box office hit, comparisons were unavoidable.

January 25 saw the release of Pathaan. It is based on Shah Rukh Khan’s role as Pathaan, a spy who embarks on a mission to save India from a terrorist organization lead by Jim, a character played by John. It received support from Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films and debuted to a global opening day total of 106 crore. With its epic action scenes, it is dominating the box office.

In a recent interview, Siddharth claimed that when it comes to an unorthodox Hindi film, the comparison always arises. When you develop a movie that deviates from Bollywood film conventions, that is unavoidable, he told Gulf News. You are immediately compared to Hollywood, which undoubtedly has superior facilities, more advanced technology, and larger budgets. Although our constraints are considerably greater, it will always appear as though we are attempting to mimic that. We also have objectives, and our filmmakers are able to mount pictures, but our scope is constrained because all of our films are produced in Hindi. The budgets we can afford are directly inversely correlated with our revenues.

“I must admit that I have only seen two MCU movies. I don’t like that kind of music. I’ve observed a few of these. My son is an absolute expert and a tremendous enthusiast. He updates me and gives me a briefing. He is the person I have to run my scripts and action sequences with before he says, “No, dad, this is in that movie.” You can’t do this; it’s already been done, so stop trying. What the hell do I do, I ask myself. I therefore borrow his strategies for moving things around. The director acknowledged that he had not seen enough Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, saying, “I think I should jump on the bandwagon and start viewing those pictures, so that there is no overlap.”

Fighter, another action movie, will be Siddharth’s upcoming release (2024). Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor will all appear in it.
