- John Abraham hinted at a potential prequel to Pathaan.
- He did not confirm a sequel to the film.
- “We’ll be doing a prequel to Jim before he goes bitter,” said Abraham.
Bollywood’s action-packed blockbuster Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, was one of the biggest hits of 2023. Now, John has hinted at a potential prequel focusing on his character, Jim, though he did not confirm a sequel to the film.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, John shared his thoughts on Pathaan and his collaborations with producer Aditya Chopra. “[Pathaan] was really, really cool and special. Adi (Aditya Chopra) and me, we did Dhoom, Kabul Express, New York and then Pathaan. I think he (Adi) gets me right, and hopefully, we’ll be doing a prequel to Jim before he goes bitter. So that should be happening.”
Earlier, director Siddharth Anand had also acknowledged the potential for a prequel. Speaking to Pinkvilla, he said, “It should be, but it’s too early to talk about anything. I feel Jim’s character does warrant a prequel.”
Produced by Yash Raj Films, Pathaan was a massive box office success, grossing ₹634 crore worldwide in just seven days.
John was last seen in Vedaa and is now preparing for The Diplomat, based on Indian diplomat JP Singh, set to release on March 14, during Holi.
