Pathaan debuts on Amazon Video with new scenes

Pathaan
  • Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan is out on Prime Video, almost two months after its theatrical release.
  • The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer released on March 25 and became the biggest Hindi hits of all time, collecting more than ₹1000 crore.
  • Shah Rukh Khan makes a stylish entry in a scene from Pathaan.

Nearly two months after its theatrical release, Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan is now available on Prime Video. The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer delivered on Walk 25 and turned into the greatest Hindi hits ever, gathering more than ₹1000 crore. Four additional scenes were included in the OTT version of the movie, and fans have been sharing and discussing them on social media.

The titular Pathaan of Shah Rukh Khan is shown being tortured by the Russians in one of the scenes. He is shown strapped to a chair as an officer removes his nails in a particularly grisly scene. Pathaan shouts in distress as the official says, “Batado Pathaan, tum jaante ho, end mein sab bolte hain (Make some noise Pathaan, you realize everybody shouts out eventually).” “Teri Hindi bahut acchi hai,” Pathaan jokes with him. How about Hindustan, please? Your joint venture (Your Hindi is excellent. He asks, “Did your mother go to Hindustan or were you part of a joint operation?)” but is hit in the face with a big punch.

Another scene showed him making passage to a 50 Penny melody. He is greeted by his team as soon as he enters the JOKR facility. He says, “Agar zindagi rahi toh gale milege (We will share a hug some other day),” and a colleague rushes to give him a hug. The reason why this scene was cut from the movie puzzled moviegoers. This Door Entry Scene at 1:30 p.m. Ye Scene to Delete Karna Nehi Tha Theater Se. Kya Faadu Scene Hai, #Pathaan’s Walk, Style, and Attitude Gives Me Goosebumps Best OTT Experience Ever,” kept in touch with one. ” Why in the world this scene was deleted….Ye scene theater me aag laga deta,” this scene would have set the film corridor ablaze.” wrote a second.

Rubai’s (Deepika Padukone) interrogation scene and Dimple Kapadia’s on-flight scene are shown in additional movie scenes.

“Pathaan,” directed by Siddharth Anand, also starred Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in the lead roles. The film has broken the record set by Bahubali 2 to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. While Baahubali 2 made 510.99 crore, Pathaan made 528.29 crore.

Siddharth Anand believes Hrithik Roshan should direct a film soon

Siddharth Anand & Hrithik Roshan
  • Siddharth Anand is already on the fourth schedule of the aerial action film with lead actor Hrithik.
  • He also said that Hrithik is a closet filmmaker.
  • Siddharth has already worked with Hrithik Roshan on Bang Bang (2014) and War (2019).

Siddharth Anand is hard at work on his next movie, Fighter, which stars Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor and was a huge hit. The aerial action film’s director and lead actor Hrithik Roshan are currently in their fourth schedule. Siddharth praised the actor for his total dedication to the project and argued that Hrithik should soon direct his own film. Additionally, he stated that Hrithik is a secret filmmaker.

Siddharth has previously worked with Hrithik Roshan on Bang (2014) and War (2019). The director announced that he had completed 25% of the film, which stars Hrithik Roshan as Patty, a fighter pilot who aspires to become India’s best. In the movie, Talat Aziz, a singer, also plays Hrithik’s father.

Siddharth talked to Mid-Day about the actor, who he thought had a filmmaker inside of him. “Hrithik is a complete Hindi film hero,” he stated. He is a complex performer who not only adds nuance to his role but also motivates the actors in front of him, ensuring that everyone shines in the movie. In a movie, Hrithik does not look at himself alone. He is a secret filmmaker and is unaware of it. He needs to direct a movie soon, I keep telling him.

The director went on to say that Pathaan’s release, which brought audiences back to theaters, made him feel righteous. “[Before the movie’s release], some sections of the Hindi film industry and the public started believing in the Boycott Bollywood trend,” he mentioned. They stopped having faith in their own films. Pathaan, on the other hand, provided an answer to everything: “Make a film with the right intentions and people will come to the theater.”

Interestingly, Hrithik Roshan has worked with his father on four of Rakesh Roshan’s films, including Khudgarz (1987) and Karan Arjun (1995). Before making his directorial debut with Khudgarz, Rakesh also worked as an actor in the 1970s. Last year, Hrithik appeared in the Hindi remake of Vikram Vedha alongside Saif Ali Khan. The film was a remake of their 2017 Tamil film of the same name starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi, which Pushkar–Gayathri wrote and directed.
On March 22, Pathaan, which also features Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana, will premiere digitally on Prime Video.

Siddharth Anand opens up about working with Salman Khan & SRK in Pathaan

Siddharth Anand
  • Siddharth Anand is the man of the hour for his success with Pathaan, which has crossed the Baahubali 2 Hindi collection.
  • He opened up about his love for action films, making Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan come together, dealing with boycott trends.
  • His production house. He also rubbished rumours of Dhoom 4.

The man of the hour is director Siddharth Anand, whose movie Pathaan keeps breaking records at theaters all around the world. Siddharth spoke candidly about the success of his production company, his love for action movies, bringing Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan together, and coping with boycott trends. He also denied reports that Shah Rukh Khan might appear in Dhoom 4.

You are the man of the hour. Many have credited you for ‘saving’ Bollywood. How does it feel to become the number 1 director to cross Baahubali 2 Hindi collection?

Siddharth Anand: It’s an incredible feeling. It’s a lot of validation for all the hard work, effort and journey of filmmaking for 20 years. And, to finally make a film that’s at the summit of all Hindi films. It’s humbling, moving and exciting, it’s all adjectives, rolled into one.

From Salaam Namaste to Pathaan. Tell us about your journey as a filmmaker.

Siddharth Anand: My journey as a filmmaker started out with something which was in my comfort zone, making rom-com and slice-of-life films. I knew that world was very tangible and relatable at that point in time. On stories that also were emotional yet had a flavour of commerce and a sense of commercial films, that was my comfort zone. I think by the time of Anjaana Anjaani, I became a little too comfortable. Those kinds of films just came out super naturally and I didn’t feel challenged enough.

Post that, I somewhere tried out stories to tell in that genre. I have a certain deficit disorder wherein I constantly need to stay engaged in my mind. Fortunately, I found a genre to shift into—action. At that time, the kind of action I wanted to do was not done in the country, they were not making action films like these flavour and fun. I kind of found my own niche in that. War cemented it and like Adi (Aditya Chopra) once said, found my voice, as a filmmaker with War. Pathaan just substantiated that. So here I am doing films I love. I am like a kid in a candy store right now.

You have delivered War pre-pandemic and Pathaan post. So basically you emerged pandemic-proof.

Siddharth Anand: In that sense, the audience has been gracious and has loved and embraced my films. I have stayed true to what I wanted to do consistently, and with that not tried to experiment or over-indulge even after a massive success like War. The idea is to just stay honest and true, and also evolve with the audience but not overindulge. That’s the secret to it.

Pathaan also came out strong amid unprecedented times in Bollywood. Was there a plan to navigate your way? Especially with boycott trends

Siddharth Anand: The idea was to do nothing about the boycott trend. It was to just let the film answer them because we knew there was nothing offensive in the film. Nothing to offend them, in fact, they would enjoy the film. We were confident of that. We just wanted them to give us a chance and at least see the film. And that’s what happened. After the first two shows of Pathaan, all those voices died down, there was only love. Eventually, that is what matters. No matter how much we say ‘oh there’s nothing offensive,’ it would only create more noise.

You maintained that directing Shah Rukh Khan was a responsibility. You also worked with Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff in the same genre. How each has been different?

Siddharth Anand: Extremely different. Each has its own personality and strength. As a director one has to become a counsellor as well. In the sense, you need to adapt to the actor, and cater to that personality, ensuring you get the best of him in the way that works. Sometimes you have to specialise when working with these kinds of stars. Because they are set and they have been here much longer than you have been.

All of them have their own school of thought and process. It’s been a dream to direct them, and now I am back (with Hrithik). It’s like coming home.

Yes with Fighter. You just finished a schedule right? Give us an update

Siddharth Anand: We have wrapped three schedules actually. We just finished the Hyderabad one. We are done with 25% of the film, it’s till, still many days to go. But yeah, the journey of a fighter has begun.

Talking about Pathaan, you ended up reuniting Salman Khan with Shah Rukh Khan in a film after years. Many called it the best thing about the film.

Siddharth Anand: Yeah, it was nostalgic for me also. Especially for the last running on the train scene. I told Salman to shout ‘bhaag Pathaan bhaag’ and told him to do it like ‘bhaag Arjun bhaag (from Karan Arjun).’ It wasn’t in the script. It was funny and I had to convince Salman to do it. It was so much fun.

What was Salman’s reaction to the scene when you narrated it?

Siddharth Anand: He laughed. He said ‘You are not serious.’ I said ‘yes I want you to do it’. He did it so well. He is like clay. He is so sweet and just needs love and pampering. He got a lot of that from me. He did exactly what I told him to do.

So far zero flops to be blunt. Any hesitation before the film releases?

Siddharth Anand: Lots of it (laughs). It’s a record, I hope and pray now that we talking about it, it sustains. Releasing films and maintaining a 100% track record is a blessing and thought to keep. I hope it continues for the next 8-9 years. Fingers crossed.

Would you like to share a specific anecdote from the making of Pathaan?

Siddharth Anand: There are so many. It’s only memories now. Let me enjoy the success now.

Will we get to see more Hollywood stars in your future projects? You roped in Tom Cruise’s action director for Pathaan

Siddharth Anand: We looked up Casey O’Neil’s work and liked it. We reached out to him and he was gracious enough to come down. We worked quite closely and he’s been quite a huge asset on the sets of Pathaan.

How was Shah Rukh Khan working with him?

Siddharth Anand: He took it like fish in the water. He actually has a great prototype as an actor, his body is great. He was very comfortable and no one has done that with him before. I am just lucky to do it with him.

Even I read that Shah Rukh felt shy about flaunting his abs…

Siddharth Anand: He is a very shy person. He isn’t as flamboyant as it seems. He likes intimate gatherings and conversations. Showing off his body is the last thing he likes to do he is very shy that way. I think it took quite a lot of convincing for us to do it.

You are still not on social media. Why so?

Siddharth Anand: Consciously I’m not. It allows me time to work. Social media is like a fridge, you keep opening it to check what’s inside it. If I get that much time, I work or spend time with my family for recreation. I think I have nothing to share with people that much; I like my anonymity and a personal life to remain on my own.

I think people have a lot to share with you

Siddharth Anand: Through my films, I get that. I am very happy about it.

You might not be on social media but you do have a fake account on Twitter now…

Siddharth Anand: Yeah, I read about it. I have heard the news that I have announced Dhoom 4. That too with Shah Rukh, I congratulated him that day (laughs), it’s funny. Fans have taken it a bit too far. I hope that account comes down.

Now that you have made your place in the action genre, do you think we can see you behind a rom-com like Anjaana Anjaani again? What’s next?

Siddharth Anand: I would love to do that if I get a script but I think my effort is to establish my production house, Marflix Pictures Private Limited as a premium action production house. With Rambo starring Tiger and Rohit Dhawan as the director, and now Fighter, under it.

The filmmaker suggests that an expanded OTT version of Pathaan’s genesis story

Pathaan
  • Siddharth Anand revealed that Shah Rukh Khan’s character in Pathaan does not have a religion.
  • That he, Aditya Chopra, and Pathaan writers have the same belief system.
  • In Pathaan, Deepika Padukone’s character asks Shah Rukh’s character Pathaan if he is a Muslim.

Siddharth Anand, the director of Pathaan, has spoken candidly about Shah Rukh Khan‘s lack of a religious affiliation in the movie. A deleted segment concerning the character may be featured in the OTT release, Siddharth further disclosed in a recent interview. Siddharth claimed that he shares “the same belief system” with Aditya Chopra, Shridhar Raghavan, and Abbas Tyerewala, who wrote the script for Pathaan.
Pathaan, played by Shah Rukh, is questioned by Deepika Padukone’s character in the movie Pathaan about his religion. He explained to her that when he assisted in the rescue of children in an Afghan village, he was given the name Pathaan.

In a conversation with Galatta Plus, Siddharth discussed the Pathaan religion “Abbas, Sridhar, Adi, and I work together in harmony; the four of us, not the three of us, are responsible. We share the same worldview as a group of four, as well as the same favorite movies from our youth that we still watch today. It is something we both agree on. He has no name, and the theater where he was discovered used to be called Navrang, but that name was changed and may appear in the OTT version.”

“None of us looks down on it, none of us says this is cheesy,” he continued. We all come in with, ‘Well that’s a beautiful notion and then he became Pathaan because of this reason and now he has no religion, he has only his country that matters to him’. Similar-minded people work together to boost one other’s confidence.

Siddharth talked about Pathaan last month. “I know we have pushed the envelope to offer a picture that has connected with people worldwide,” the news agency PTI said. I must now put forth more effort in every movie I do going forward. This feat is extremely unusual, so the entire Pathaan team as well as the entire Hindi cinema industry should cherish this moment.

On January 25, Pathaan, a Yash Raj Films (YRF) production, was released in theaters. Pathaan is a global espionage thriller that centers on the titular spy (Shah Rukh Khan), who emerges from exile to prevent terrorist organization Outfit X from attacking India. Together with Ashutosh, the film also features John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia.

Sajjad of Tiger Zinda Hai recounts falling short in Hrithik’s War

Sajjad
  • Sajjad Delafrooz, it was Siddharth Anand’s War which didn’t materialise for him.
  • For an actor losing a job isn’t a big deal.
  • After a point it’s imperative for them to have an exterior to deal with rejections.

Losing a job isn’t a big thing for an actor, but eventually they need to develop a tough exterior to handle rejection. However, it does hurt a little more when a dream endeavor fails. Actor Sajjad Delafrooz was “heartbroken” because Siddharth Anand’s War didn’t pan out for him.

“Because I was a foreigner, the visa application and documentation processes took a while. They had sealed the location since they were filming abroad, and my order was delayed for almost two to three days. They cannot move when you are shooting abroad. So I lost my work as a result of a two-day delay, Delafrooz recounts.

Even though War was a financial success, Delafrooz was particularly hurt by its loss because it was the first film he had been offered after making his acting debut in Tiger Zinda Hai.

“I didn’t have a good feeling. After a while, you become used to it. But at the time, I was rather astonished. 48 hours only. I lost my job because I was unable to board that train. For me, it was a learning experience, the actor admits.

The actor admits that he “lost maybe two or three huge projects” in the previous year. “For me, losing a major movie is a terrible experience. But what to say, exactly? In that situation, you can’t hold yourself entirely responsible every day. I tried my best, but that was all I could do at the time,” he says.

SRK & Salman scene in Pathaan, according to the author, was written more than thrice

Salman
  • Salman Khan makes a special cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s film Pathaan.
  • The dialogue writer Abbas Tyrewala reveals how the scene was re-written several times.
  • He shared that it was made in a collaborative spirit to get the balance right for both characters and actors.

Many find Salman Khan’s remarkable appearance in the recent movie Pathaan, in which his character Tiger aids Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan at a vital juncture, to be the film’s highlight. The two stars last appeared together onscreen in Shah Rukh’s 2018 flick Zero. Abbas Tyrewala, the dialogue writer for Pathaan, explained how the scene had to be rewritten multiple times before it struck the correct tone for the actors and the characters. He said that “a collaborative atmosphere” was used to create the scene.

In the Siddharth Anand-directed film Pathaan, Shah Rukh plays a special agent who hunts down former rogue agent Jim, played by John Abraham, to stop him from disseminating a virus that has the potential to kill millions of people worldwide. In order to catch him, he forms a special team called Joint Operation and Covert Research (JOCR), which is led by Nandini played by Dimple Kapadia.

In one scene, Salman Khan’s Tiger makes a valiant entrance to help Pathaan as he is being held captive and beaten by the bad guys. They had some chitchat while beating up the bad guys. Regarding this crucial period, Abbas stated to Bollywood Hungama, “You know it’s a two-edged sword when Shah Rukh and Salman appear on screen together as Pathaan and Tiger. On the one hand, there are suddenly a lot more options to amuse the audience. On the other side, you also have to be really cautious about how you play it to avoid having Pathaan and Tiger forgotten in favor of Shah Rukh and Salman. There must be that balance.”

Added he, “Therefore, you cannot give Salman the entire sequence just because Tiger is making a cameo and diminish Shah Rukh in the process. Salman is also making a special appearance in Shah Rukh’s movie at the same time. Salman cannot therefore be made to be a non-event. That has to be something that makes the audience jump with excitement. How then do you strike a balance where Pathaan’s movie remains Pathaan’s movie but Tiger’s moment becomes Tiger’s moment and both actors get to shine?”

The Salman-Shah Rukh moment was “written and re-written a lot of times,” the writer-director stated. Due to the actors’ willingness to work together, producer Aditya Chopra, director Siddharth, and others, everything came together.

Deepika Padukone plays the Pakistani spy Rubai in the January 25 film Pathaan, which also features Deepika. Globally, the Hindi movie has made around 700 crore. When Maneesh Sharma’s Tiger 3 hits theaters later this year, it’s anticipated that Pathaan will repay the favor and save Tiger.

SRK improvised Siddharth remark in the movie Pathaan, “boobles”

Siddharth
  • Siddharth Anand is opening up about how Pathaan was made.
  • A funny moment in the film was improvised on set by Shah Rukh Khan.
  • The line was left in after his co-star and director laughed at the improvised line.

Siddharth Anand, the director of Pathaan, is speaking up about the making of the hugely successful movie. The director revealed that actor Shah Rukh Khan made up a humorous scene for the movie Pathaan while it was being shot. Siddharth also laughed at the improvised sentence, thus the line was left in.

In the scene in question, which is set in Moscow, Russia, Pathaan, a character played by Shah Rukh, and Rubai aka Rubina, a character played by Deepika Padukone, are attempting to seize the “Raktbeej,” which their common enemy Jim (John Abraham), is also after. The two agents decide to enter the facility to take the Raktbeej even though they have paired up to cooperate. Pathaan and Rubina encounter a Russian woman en route, and when Pathaan gets overwhelmed in her company, he mispronounces the term “rubles” as “boobles.”

Siddharth claimed that Shah Rukh Khan was solely responsible for the line in an interview with Film Companion. He revealed, “One-liners come naturally to Shah Rukh. He has an extremely sarcastic sense of humor. The “boobles” line belongs to him, I’m afraid. Considering how he speaks, is it okay if I do this? I chuckled. Let’s get started now that I have laughed.”

A fan speculated in response to the footage posted online on Twitter, “So deepika’s reaction was real too.” It took me 10 minutes to process the exchange, a Twitter follower wrote. It will now take one day to process this information. Another supporter furthered, “KING KHAN for a cause.

“The movie is the ideal addition to this grandiose spy world, which has already featured Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir and Tiger starring Salman Khan. With numerous drool-worthy moments, director Sidharth Anand, who previously oversaw the action thrillers War and Bang Bang, once again presents his protagonists in the most glammed-up attire. Even if you don’t delve too deeply for a meaningful tale or logic, Pathaan has too much to offer, from Deepika Padukone’s clothes to John Abraham’s chiseled physique to Shah Rukh Khan’s CGI-enhanced six-pack abs.”

On January 25, the movie Pathaan—which also features Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana—was released in theaters. Salman Khan made a surprise appearance, reprising his role as Tiger from the movies Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).

Pathaan has been dubbed a “pale copy of Hollywood” by Siddharth

Pathaan
  • Pathaan is the first action movie of Shah Rukh Khan and also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham.
  • Filmmaker Siddharth Anand says it has been compared to Hollywood films.
  • Pathaan is expected to be the biggest box office success of 2023.

Recently, director Siddharth Anand spoke out in response to critics who have compared his most recent film, Pathaan, to Hollywood productions. Shah Rukh Khan makes his acting debut in this movie, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. The director claimed that since Pathaan wasn’t a typical Bollywood movie and has remained 2023’s largest box office hit, comparisons were unavoidable.

January 25 saw the release of Pathaan. It is based on Shah Rukh Khan’s role as Pathaan, a spy who embarks on a mission to save India from a terrorist organization lead by Jim, a character played by John. It received support from Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films and debuted to a global opening day total of 106 crore. With its epic action scenes, it is dominating the box office.

In a recent interview, Siddharth claimed that when it comes to an unorthodox Hindi film, the comparison always arises. When you develop a movie that deviates from Bollywood film conventions, that is unavoidable, he told Gulf News. You are immediately compared to Hollywood, which undoubtedly has superior facilities, more advanced technology, and larger budgets. Although our constraints are considerably greater, it will always appear as though we are attempting to mimic that. We also have objectives, and our filmmakers are able to mount pictures, but our scope is constrained because all of our films are produced in Hindi. The budgets we can afford are directly inversely correlated with our revenues.

“I must admit that I have only seen two MCU movies. I don’t like that kind of music. I’ve observed a few of these. My son is an absolute expert and a tremendous enthusiast. He updates me and gives me a briefing. He is the person I have to run my scripts and action sequences with before he says, “No, dad, this is in that movie.” You can’t do this; it’s already been done, so stop trying. What the hell do I do, I ask myself. I therefore borrow his strategies for moving things around. The director acknowledged that he had not seen enough Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, saying, “I think I should jump on the bandwagon and start viewing those pictures, so that there is no overlap.”

Fighter, another action movie, will be Siddharth’s upcoming release (2024). Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, and Anil Kapoor will all appear in it.

Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films (YRF), which also made spy movies like War (2019) and Salman Khan’s Tiger series, is supporting the action movie. The YRF Spy Universe, which stars actors like Tiger (Salman Khan), Zoya (Katrina Kaif), Kabir (Hrithik Roshan), Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan), and Rubai (Deepika Padukone), was discussed by Siddharth in a recent interview. He also hinted at a prequel centered on Jim, the Pathaan character played by John Abraham.

Siddharth also discussed how producer Aditya Chopra came up with the concept of a crossover between Salman Khan’s Tiger and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan. Fans have praised Shah Rukh for making a comeback in a prominent role, but they have also praised John Abraham for his depiction of Jim, the Pathaan film’s antagonist.

Siddharth responded to Pinkvilla when asked if a movie featuring Jim’s backstory might be made, “It should be, but it’s too early to talk about anything. Jim’s character, in my opinion, does call for a prequel. The director also hinted that the prequel would delve into the relationship between Jim, played by John, and Kabir, played by Hrithik Roshan in War, which was hinted at in Pathaan. When asked if a spy movie starring Hrithik and John could materialize, Siddharth responded, “Why not? Anything can happen. The YRF Spy Universe is a playground where you can do whatever you want with the characters. You can have a Jim prequel, but wait—what if Jim is still alive? What if a harness was used to pull a parachute?

With a worldwide total of 634 crore in just seven days, Pathaan has surpassed all other Hindi films to become the highest grossing in the genre. The movie Pathaan came out on January 25. In a recent press conference with Pathaan’s crew, John not only put a stop to rumors of a dispute with Shah Rukh Khan, but he also referred to the actor as “the biggest action star of India.” “I used to think of myself as an action hero, but Shah Rukh has surpassed me in popularity today. He is a natural actor, and I still recall telling him that you are the nation’s national treasure and that I cannot hurt you. Overall, he really exuded confidence and was excellent during action scenes. My biggest will be Pathaan.
