Shahid Kapoor Reflects On OTT Influence After His Hit Projects

Shahid Kapoor’s recent projects, “Farzi” and “Bloody Daddy,” emerged as the most-watched content on Amazon Prime this year. However, Kapoor has shared his insights on the influence of OTT platforms.

Both his web series “Farzi” and his OTT film “Bloody Daddy” garnered significant viewership on Amazon Prime this year. Reflecting on their success, the actor expressed, “Earning the audience’s respect has always been a goal of mine. I believe that once artists, be it filmmakers, actors, or even athletes, earn people’s respect, they can maintain consistency in their trajectory. The trajectory of things is quite uncertain.” Kapoor, renowned for his presence in the film industry, made a striking impact on the world of OTT. He admitted his eagerness to explore his acting prowess on the digital platform, driven by his curiosity about how viewers would react to seeing him in that context.

He elaborated, “As an actor, it’s a misconception to assume that just because you’re a star, you’ll be universally adored. That’s not how it works! Audiences today are discerning and clear about their preferences. I was eager to witness how people would respond to me in this new space,” Kapoor emphasized.

Additionally, the “Jab We Met” star stressed the element of unpredictability, pointing out that many actors are currently experiencing both highs and lows in the industry.

“The industry is witnessing this pattern among several successful actors, where nothing seems to work. Establishing a reputation is crucial.”

Shahid Kapoor’s web series “Farzi,” co-starring Vijay Sethupathi and Kay Kay Menon, achieved success on Amazon Prime. Subsequently, he featured in Ali Abbas Zafar’s “Bloody Daddy” alongside Sanjay Kapoor, which also turned out to be a resounding hit, as reports suggested.

Sameer Khakhar’s final part on Farzi is a memory for Raj and DK

In Mumbai on Wednesday, veteran actor Sameer Khakhar passed away from multiple organ failure. He was best known for playing Khopdi in the iconic television series Nukkad in 1986. Working together on the actor’s final part, Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK recalled the veteran and shared their memories of him from the Farzi set.

The Farzi web series creators, whose work debuted on Prime Video in February, paid tribute to Sameer on Twitter. “Khopdi from Nukkad had such an impact on us as kids,” they wrote. He was unique and eccentric. Even when he was drunk, he spoke the truth. Then, decades later, we read his interview, in which he expressed his desire to once again be in front of the camera.

In the drama series, the seasoned actor starred opposite Shahid Kapoor. Farzi centers on an artist named Sunny (Shahid), who turns to money fraud to keep his grandfather’s printing press operating. Both a powerful mobster named Mansoor (Kay Kay Menon), who wants Sunny to forge currency for him, and a determined police officer named Michael (Vijay Sethupathi), who wants to stop him, take notice of his acts.

Parineeti Chopra, an actor, also recalled Sameer. She, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Sameer may be seen in a behind-the-scenes video shooting for the movie Meri Pyari Bindu. She penned, “My favorite co-star and an incredible legend. My most treasured flicks are Hasee Toh Phasee and Meri Pyaari Bindu thanks to your love, wisdom, and humor. Will never forget your smile, your deadpan humor, and most importantly, the priceless lessons you taught me about life. Hello, Sameer sir. Will always remember you.”

Ganesh Khakhar, Sameer’s brother, verified the news of his passing. The 71-year-old reportedly had urinary and respiratory problems, according to a report.

Mira Rajput tweeted pictures of herself from a recent photo shoot on Thursday. The actor-husband Shahid Kapoor, whom Mira referred to as Mr. K in her caption, took the behind-the-scenes photos. It’s too simple to make her appear nice, Shahid wrote in the comments section of his wife’s article. As soon as Mira’s most recent images were released by Shahid, admirers commented on the ‘beautiful couple’ and shared their reactions.

Shahid Kapoor’s black-and-white candid images of Mira during a photo shoot show her getting her hair repaired. She wrote in her Instagram description, “He takes beautiful shots, right? Mr. K (Shahid Kapoor) gets brownie points.” Shahid Kapoor commented in the post by Mira’s comments section, “When the topic looks like you, it’s too easy to make it look nice.” The couple’s social media interaction was well received by fans.

On Instagram, Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput frequently post one other’s pictures. Shahid recently shared a picture of them at the mehendi ceremony of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani. In addition, Mira and Shahid shared pictures of themselves posing in designer attire at the actor’s wedding, which took place at Jaisalmer’s Suryagarh Palace last month.

Shahid and Mira wed in 2015. They welcomed a son named Zain Kapoor in 2018 and a girl named Misha Kapoor in 2016. In addition to offering advice on cuisine and travel, Mira frequently gives beauty and home-decor tips on her YouTube channel, which she started in December 2021.

He said he hated his ‘cute’ image, but learnt to be graceful and accept it.

With Farzi, a web series produced by Prime Video and directed by the team of Raj and DK, Shahid Kapoor has made his OTT debut. Shahid recently discussed his two-decade Bollywood career in an interview. He claimed he detested his “cute” reputation but had grown to “be graceful and embrace it.”
Shahid, a dancer in Subhash Ghai’s Taal, made his Bollywood debut. He is the son of actors Pankaj Kapur and Neliima Azeem (1999). He made his acting debut four years later in the main role of Ishq Vishk (2003), for which he was nominated for a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award. Since then, Shahid has been in a number of movies, including Vivah, Jab We Met, Kaminey, Padmaavat, and Kabir Singh. He spoke about being seen as ‘cute’ as he reflected on his acting career in a new interview.

Speaking of Sunny, his character in the web series Farzi, Shahid claimed that Sunny carries “part of his personal pain.” He stated: “I like personalities who are out of the ordinary. In order to participate in Farzi, you must be an artist. So, I believe that Sunny in Farzi is related to some of my personal anxiety. And, you know, I wanted to express myself. Instead of only focusing on the exterior world, I wanted others to peek into my soul, comprehend my feelings, and experience my intellect. Something matters and is significant.”

In Farzi, Shahid plays Sunny, an artist who uses fake money to keep his grandfather’s printing press from being destroyed. Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, Regina Cassandra, and Bhuvan Arora are also featured in the series.

Shahid previously stated that movies like Jab We Met (2007) can only be made once every twenty years in another interview. He added that he wanted to collaborate with Imtiaz Ali again on a love story. His future projects include Kriti Sanon’s untitled movie and Bloody Daddy, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
