As wildfires continue to ravage Los Angeles, Bollywood actress Preity Zinta has assured fans that she and her family are safe. Preity, who splits her time between India and the US with her husband, Gene Goodenough, took to social media to share her experience.

“I never thought I would live to see a day where fires would ravage neighbourhoods around us in LA, friends & families either evacuated or put on high alert, ash descending from smoggy skies like snow & fear & uncertainty about what will happen if the wind does not calm down with toddlers and grandparents with us.,” she wrote on X. “I’m heartbroken at the devastation around us and grateful to God that we are safe as of now.”

She also expressed gratitude to emergency workers: “A big thank you (folded hands emoji) to the fire department, fire fighters & everyone else helping to save lives & property. Stay safe everyone (red heart emoji).”

Priyanka Chopra, currently at her Los Angeles home with husband Nick Jonas and daughter Malti Marie, shared a view of the nearby hills ablaze on Instagram. “My thoughts are with everyone. I hope we are all able to be safe tonight,” she wrote, thanking the rescue workers.

Meanwhile, Nora Fatehi, also in LA, described her harrowing experience. “I’ve never seen anything like this. This is insane. We just got an evacuation order like five minutes ago. So, I quickly packed all my stuff and I’m evacuating out of here, out of this area. I’m going to go near the airport and stay there, because I have a flight today and I really hope I can catch it. I hope it doesn’t get cancelled because this s**t is scary. I have never experienced this before,” she said in an Instagram video.

When asked about the concerns surrounding the film’s target audience, Rakesh Roshan explained that the primary issue arose from Hrithik’s role as a mentally impaired character. “That came later. Most of them were saying that after introducing Hrithik in the way that Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai did, now you are making him play a mentally challenged character. They didn’t have a problem with the concept of an alien; they had a problem that a film like that was being made with Hrithik,” he stated.

Hrithik recalled similar sentiments, reminiscing, “I remember everyone saying that Hrithik is an action hero; his last three films have flopped consecutively, and now you want to make him a mentally challenged guy. It will be over, his life will be over, that’ll be the last nail in the coffin of his professional life.”

Despite such apprehensions, Rakesh Roshan expressed confidence in the film’s potential for success. He wasn’t deterred by the chatter because he saw Hrithik’s outstanding performance during shooting, which assured him of the film’s bright future. “I did not get scared because when I used to watch Hrithik during shooting, I felt that the film would surely work because of the way he was portraying that role. If I would have felt doubtful then, I would have shelved the film. But the very first day, the very first shot when Hrithik came, I got the inner feeling that we are making a very successful film,” Rakesh ji asserted.

In celebration of Koi… Mil Gaya’s 20th anniversary, the makers have re-released the film in cinemas across the country, allowing a new generation of audiences to experience the magic that captivated viewers two decades ago.

Going to Instagram, Preity released a video from the occasion which also featured Elton John singing. She and her husband were seen in the video taking in the festivities. At the gathering, Preity took pictures with actor Jacqueline Fernandez.

“Last night there was so much to celebrate,” she said as the caption. My husband’s birthday, the Oscar victories of two Indian films, and the large number of individuals who came together to collect money for HIV-positive persons. I’m going to wrap out this enjoyable evening with one of my all-time favorite Elton John songs. A few days after his birthday, Gene and Preity made an appearance at the Oscars after-party. Preity had posted on Instagram at the time, “Happy Belated Birthday, Gene, my sweetheart. On February 29, 2016, Preity and Gene exchanged vows in Los Angeles. Recent festivities marked the couple’s seventh wedding anniversary. In 2021, Jai Zinta Goodenough and Gia Zinta Goodenough were born via surrogacy to Preity and Gene.

Celebrities including Priyanka Chopra, Mindy Kaling, Nick Jonas, Preity Zinta, Jacqueline Fernandez, and others gathered on March 9 for the second annual South Asian Excellence at the Oscars event at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles to honor nominees from films like RRR, All That Breathes, and The Elephant Whisperers. On Friday, Mindy posted pictures of herself and other celebrities from the “special event” on Instagram. She posed with Telugu actor Jr. NTR in one of the photos as Preity photobombed their image.

The pre-Oscars party was co-chaired by Malala Yousafzai, Mindy Kaling, Kumail Nanjiani, Kal Penn, Aziz Ansari, Bela Bajaria, Radhika Jones, Joseph Patel, Shruti Ganguly, and Anita Chatterjee. It was hosted by Priyanka Chopra and celebrity manager-entrepreneur Anjula Acharia. Many of the celebrities who walked the red carpet for the occasion were dressed by Falguni and Shane Peacock designers.

The 95th Academy Awards will take place at the Dolly Theatre in Los Angeles on March 12 (March 13 in India). Three Indian movies are vying for the coveted prizes this year. The songs “Naatu Naatu” by RRR and “All That Breathes” by Shaunak Sen are up for Best Original Songs, “The Elephant Whisperers” by Guneet Monga is up for Best Documentary Short, and “Naatu Naatu” by RRR is up for Best Original Song.
