With Farzi, a web series produced by Prime Video and directed by the team of Raj and DK, Shahid Kapoor has made his OTT debut. Shahid recently discussed his two-decade Bollywood career in an interview. He claimed he detested his “cute” reputation but had grown to “be graceful and embrace it.”
Shahid, a dancer in Subhash Ghai’s Taal, made his Bollywood debut. He is the son of actors Pankaj Kapur and Neliima Azeem (1999). He made his acting debut four years later in the main role of Ishq Vishk (2003), for which he was nominated for a Filmfare Best Male Debut Award. Since then, Shahid has been in a number of movies, including Vivah, Jab We Met, Kaminey, Padmaavat, and Kabir Singh. He spoke about being seen as ‘cute’ as he reflected on his acting career in a new interview.
“Vanilla is a word I detest. I used to despise it when people said, “Oh, you are so cute.” I abhor it. Why would you say that to anyone, I said. It’s a word I’ve never liked. I now know how to handle it gracefully and accept the insults that are directed at me. But I simply felt that it is too restrictive “Shahid revealed
Speaking of Sunny, his character in the web series Farzi, Shahid claimed that Sunny carries “part of his personal pain.” He stated: “I like personalities who are out of the ordinary. In order to participate in Farzi, you must be an artist. So, I believe that Sunny in Farzi is related to some of my personal anxiety. And, you know, I wanted to express myself. Instead of only focusing on the exterior world, I wanted others to peek into my soul, comprehend my feelings, and experience my intellect. Something matters and is significant.”
In Farzi, Shahid plays Sunny, an artist who uses fake money to keep his grandfather’s printing press from being destroyed. Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, Regina Cassandra, and Bhuvan Arora are also featured in the series.
Shahid previously stated that movies like Jab We Met (2007) can only be made once every twenty years in another interview. He added that he wanted to collaborate with Imtiaz Ali again on a love story. His future projects include Kriti Sanon’s untitled movie and Bloody Daddy, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar.
