Renowned host and actor Shaista Lodhi recently opened up about her Umrah experience, reflecting on how being a public figure can sometimes intrude on deeply personal and spiritual moments.

Speaking on a Ramadan show, Shaista expressed gratitude for her unexpected opportunity to perform Umrah, calling it “one of the most memorable moments of my life.” She cherished every moment of worship but acknowledged the challenges of maintaining privacy as a celebrity, even in sacred spaces.

She revealed how people surrounded her with questions and took pictures without consent. “I was praying at Hateem (one of the most sacred areas within Masjid al-Haram) when people started secretly taking my pictures. I had no idea what they intended to do with photos of me at the Holy Kaaba,” she shared.

Adding to her unsettling experience, she recounted, “During my prayer, some women started recording videos and asked me, ‘What are you doing here?’ I was left speechless, unsure how to respond.”

Host Faysal Quraishi supported her sentiments, sharing similar stories from other celebrities. He remarked that while fans’ curiosity is understandable, celebrities should not be expected to entertain others at holy sites, emphasizing that “Umrah is a deeply personal journey for everyone.”

I simply stated that no one can be so naive as to be unaware of the distinction between making jest of others and engaging in a serious discussion. People always recognize the difference between demeaning someone and engaging in a regular conversation.”

She further clarified the perception of a strained relationship between herself and Nadia Khan. Speaking to Hassan Chodhry, Shaista Lodhi clarified, “My statement regarding Nadia was not intended negatively, but it was misinterpreted. In reality, there is no animosity between us. Healthy professional competition is essential among hosts, actors, and colleagues. The rumors of rivalry between us emerged because I replaced Nadia Khan on various channels. Some anchors even insinuated that I was taking opportunities away from other hosts. Naturally, this hurt me deeply.”

Shaista Lodhi remarked in response to a query about beginning practise, “I used to do practise on and off, it’s not that I was not practising,” Fahad Mustafa then disclosed that Shaista Lodhi had done a lot of practise while undergoing his treatments. Shaista added that although merchants approached her and suggested it, Fahad Mustafa would not be aware of it. Instead, they suggested that they begin selling injections under Fahad Mustafa’s name. The same concept is presented to him by dermatologists, according to Fahad Mustafa.
