Pakistani drama writer Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar recently opened up about a harrowing experience where he was kidnapped, tortured, and robbed in the provincial capital.
In a podcast, the “Mere Paas Tum Ho” writer recounted the terrifying incident, revealing that his kidnappers mentioned the names of well-known actors Nauman Ijaz and Saba Qamar during the ordeal. Initially, Qamar was hesitant to report the crime because of these name-drops. Despite having personal differences with Nauman and Saba, he respected their acting skills and believed the kidnappers used their names to intimidate him.
Qamar expressed surprise and gratitude for the support he received from Indian fans, contrasting it with the criticism and mockery he encountered in his own country. This support was a silver lining in an otherwise dark experience.
After this traumatic event, Qamar shared that his wife is considering leaving Pakistan, although he remains deeply connected to his homeland and has no plans to move abroad.
Here is what he revealed:
Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar reportedly had to pay a significant ransom to secure his release. Following his statement, a case was registered at a Lahore police station. The FIR detailed how the kidnappers tortured Qamar, moved him to multiple locations and threatened his life while demanding money from his family. It was also noted that they blindfolded him and abandoned him in a remote area before fleeing.
