Dhadak director reveals reason behind casting star kids Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter made their Bollywood debuts with the 2018 film Dhadak, a project that generated much hype but also faced criticism for casting star kids.

Recently, the film’s director, Shashank Khaitan, opened up about his decision to cast them. Khaitan shared that he had met Ishaan earlier and found Janhvi’s vulnerability to be perfect for the role. He emphasized, “I was not asked by anyone to cast them.”

Dhadak, a remake of the popular Marathi film Sairat, received mixed reactions. The film was criticized for altering the storyline of the original, and some viewers even trolled the performances of the lead pair. Reflectinvg on the backlash, Khaitan said, “In the first week, we were heavily criticized for daring to adapt Sairat. It was confusing because while we were being trolled and criticized, the box office numbers told a different story.”

Despite the criticism, the film performed well at the box office, a significant achievement for a debut-led film. Khaitan admitted that the experience was challenging, especially for Janhvi and Ishaan, but noted that producer Karan Johar remained positive and supportive throughout the process.

Dhadak was a commercial success, and its sequel, Dhadak 2, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, has already been announced.

Boney Kapoor responded to allegations that he murdered his wife, famous Bollywood actress Sridevi, by saying that he received a clean chit from Dubai police.

The acclaimed Bollywood producer talked up for the first time about his wife’s terrible passing in an exclusive interview.

“It was not a natural death; it was an accidental death,” Kapoor admitted.

During the interview, the 67-year-old recalled his never-ending grilling as he was accused of being implicated in Sridevi’s death by Indian media.

“I had made the decision not to speak about it because I had spoken about it for nearly 24 or 48 hours when I was being investigated and interrogated.” “That’s how I got a clean bill of health from the Dubai police,” he added.

During the Dubai police investigation into her death, the father-of-four stated he was subjected to a battery of examinations, including a lie detector test.

“I went through all of the tests, including lie detector tests and everything else.” “Of course, the report that came clearly stated it was accidental death by drowning,” the producer added.

According to rumours, the acclaimed Bollywood actress died in 2018 after drowning in a bathtub at a Dubai hotel.

In 1996, Sridevi married Boney Kapoor. Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor are their two daughters.

Amid the festive season, just a couple of days ago, Bollywood celebrities adorned traditional attire and eagerly partook in the grand sadhya feast to celebrate the festival of Onam. Now, the stars of B-town once again immersed themselves in the spirit of Raksha Bandhan.

Joining the numerous actors who celebrated this special day honoring sibling bonds was Arjun Kapoor, known for his role in Gunday. Rhea Kapoor, the eldest sister of the Kapoor family, warmly invited all her cousins for a delightful gathering at her home, exclusively for the Kapoor siblings. Step by step, Khushi Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Shanaya Kapoor, Anshula Kapoor, and Anil Kapoor were all seen arriving at Rhea’s residence.

Using Instagram as a platform, Shanaya shared a series of images that depicted their quality time spent together. The first image showcased the entire family, cousins included, in one frame. The subsequent picture featured a cheerful selfie with Khushi, Anshula, and Shanaya. The third image captured the heartfelt moment of sisters tying rakhis on their brothers’ wrists. The lineup continued with an adorable picture of their furry family member, their beloved dog. The final image showcased the wrist of one of the brothers adorned with multiple rakhis. The film is scheduled for release on March 15, 2024. Additionally, she is leading the cast in the patriotic thriller “Ulajh,” the first look of which has already been unveiled. She is also set to make her Telugu debut in the movie “Devara,” alongside Junior NTR and Saif Ali Khan, directed by Koratala Siva and slated for an April 5 release next year. Furthermore, she is reported to be part of the action entertainer “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan,” alongside Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.
