  • Fans quickly noticed his continued portrayal of the “small-town guy.”
  • Fans pointed out his similar roles in other films he did.

Rajkummar Rao unveiled the teaser for his upcoming movie Bhool Chuk Maaf on Tuesday, and fans quickly noticed his continued portrayal of the “small-town guy desperate to marry” archetype. In the film, he plays a young man from Banaras eager about his wedding plans, echoing similar roles he has taken on in Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Waala Video, Stree 2, Hum Do Humare Do, and Roohi.

Comedian Akshat, known for his viral Instagram videos, humorously pointed out Rao’s pattern. He joked, “India had not had any tier 2 cities for a long time, but they were brought back so Rajkummar, whom he called the best actor in the country, could have a career.” He continued, “Two-tier city mein ek ladka jise shaadi karni hai, eklauti kahani hai sunane ke liye (A guy from a tier-2 city wanting to get married is the only story we have now).”

Viewers echoed Akshat’s sentiments. One comment read, “I hate to see Rajkummar being typecast in the same type of comedy movies, he has much more potential than this.” Another joked, “After Citylights, Rajkummar decided never to go to big cities again.”

Directed by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf is produced by Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios. Besides this film, Rao is also set to star in Maalik, slated for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025.

Recently, the renowned director duo Raj and DK organized a screening of the project in Mumbai, attended by the show’s cast, crew, and other notable figures from the film industry.

Salmaan donned a retro-patterned shirt paired with white parallel trousers, complemented by tinted eyeglasses, a distinctive silver necklace, and beige shoes, capturing the essence of the 90s. Amaal opted for a green and black printed outfit, paired with minimal accessories and black heels.

Rajkummar Rao emanated retro charm in a black jacket with white prints, a black high-neck t-shirt, matching trousers, and black shoes. Adarsh Gourav chose a brown suit and white shirt for the occasion. Shreya Dhanwanthary, the female lead, appeared elegant in a red net saree, accompanied by a matching sleeveless blouse, chandelier earrings, and a wavy hairdo adorned with red roses. Rajkummar Rao Reveals He Used To Steal Cable In His Younger Days

Rajkummar Rao

Rajkummar Rao participated in a special fan event in Delhi on Sunday evening, during which he fondly reminisced about his youth when he often found himself taking on the role of a problem solver for various household tasks. He humorously mentioned that he not only fixed nuts and bolts around his home but also playfully admitted to engaging in cable theft during that time. The event was a special screening of his upcoming web series, “Guns & Gulaabs.” In response to a question about fixing punctured tires, Rajkummar revealed that he never engaged in such tasks. He explained, “Haven’t fixed punctures but we did have paanna (spanner) at our house. Each house has a self-made engineer who fixes everything around the house. I did that in our house. If there is a wire to be changed or padosi ke ghar se cable churani hai (stealing cable from the neighbour’s house) – we had that kind of cable those days. I did all of that very well.” Notably, his character in the series is named Tipu Paana, portraying a man who employs a spanner as a weapon.

Rajkummar Rao completed his college education at Delhi University, majoring in arts, before pursuing studies at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune. He also mentioned during the event that every family tends to have a self-taught engineer, and he assumed that role within his own family.

The exclusive screening was orchestrated by Netflix and Act Fibernet, with invited fans in attendance. The event showcased the first two episodes of “Guns & Gulaabs.” Set in the 1990s, the series follows the tales of Tipu, an enamoured mechanic (Rajkummar), a reluctant successor to a ruling gang, Chhota Ganchi (Adarsh Gourav), honest officer Arjun Verma (Dulquer Salmaan), and the ruthless 4-cut Atmaram (Gulshan Devaiah).

Before the screening, Rajkummar Rao also highlighted the creative prowess of the show’s creators, Raj and DK, known for their distinct narrative choices. Rajkummar shared his admiration, saying, “Whenever Raj and DK write something, it has to be atrangi (extraordinary)… They are always ahead of what we can even think of, so it is always fun to work with them.”

During the event, Rajkummar Rao was questioned about the unconventional use of a spanner as a murder weapon in the series. He responded by emphasizing that such scenarios should remain confined to fictional contexts, as they are meant for entertainment and not to be emulated in real life. He stressed, “Never thought about it. Nothing like that should happen in real life., actually. It looks fun and good when we watch it in a series.”

  • Dia also said that she called up Rajkumar Hirani and urged him to cast her in his biopic on Sanjay Dutt – Sanju.
  • She was previously seen in Anubhav’s Thappad alongside Taapsee Pannu.

A decision to become an actor is like “signing a bond for misery,” according to Dia Mirza. She added that she had pleaded with director Rajkumar Hirani to include her in his Ranbir Kapoor-starring film. Sanju
In addition to Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Kapur, and Bhumi Pednekar, Dia is currently promoting her latest movie, Bheed. Anubhav Sinha is the director of the movie. She was previously featured in Anubhav’s Thappad opposite Taapsee Pannu.

Dia stated in an interview with Indian Express that “we sign a bond of grief when we become performers. Heartbreak occurs when your stories fail to connect with readers, producers, or both. Heartbreak also occurs when you are forced to wait for an eternity for someone to assign you work. It is very difficult. A successful film may lead artists to hope that it will bring in additional work for them, but this is not always the case, she added.

Dia added that she called Rajkumar Hirani and pleaded with him to include her in the cast of Sanjay Dutt’s biography, Sanju. “Sanju for me was oxygen. I actually required it. I recall that Raju is a buddy, therefore I called a friend for the first time in my professional career and stated,

She added that she never made a call to a friend for work before Sanju since she was always nervous and insecure about doing so. Maybe that’s one of the reasons I haven’t gotten other gigs; maybe it requires you calling the director and saying, “I want to work with you.”

Dia appeared in a number of movies in the early 2000s after making her acting debut in Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein in 2001, which starred R Madhavan and Saif Ali Khan. She made a comeback as a well-known face in the industry with the 2018 movie Sanju. Since then, she has worked on the online series Kaafir and Anubhav Sinha’s Thappad.

Pankaj Kapur responds to critics who label the movie Bheed

Pankaj Kapur
  • Pankaj Kapur responds to criticism of his upcoming film Bheed.
  • Which compares the 2020 lockdown to the Partition in 1947.
  • It stars Rajkummar Rao, Dia Mirza, Bhumi Pednekar, Ashutosh Rana, Virendra Saxena, Aditya Shrivastava, Kritika Kamra and Karan Pandit.

Veteran actor Pankaj Kapur discussed the criticism of his upcoming movie, Bheed, in an open forum. Many people have referred to the Anubhav Sinha-directed movie as “anti-national” after watching its teaser. In response to the assertions, Pankaj encouraged viewers to reserve their judgment until after viewing the movie.

Bheed describes the worker exodus that took place during the 2020 lockdown and contrasts it to the 1947 Partition. Rajkummar Rao, Dia Mirza, Bhumi Pednekar, Ashutosh Rana, Virendra Saxena, Aditya Shrivastava, Kritika Kamra, and Karan Pandit are some of the actors who appear in it. Pankaj portrays a watchman who is compelled to relocate during the Covid-caused shutdown in India.

In response to criticism of the Bheed trailer, Pankaj stated to Indian Express, “You must realize that in our society, which is what you’ll also see in our film, people will declare monsoons before a drop of rain comes. We are so opinionated and impatient. We act hastily rather than waiting and saying, “Well, let’s think about what is occurring,” instead of being patient. If you watch the movie first, you can comment. It’s absurd that just one little teaser… You then start claiming that it is a political movie. This film analyzes our society’s attitude, how we think, and how we respond to certain situations. Very few movies have ever shown authorities in a favorable light the way this one has.”

Many also questioned a scene in Bheed where Pankaj’s character reportedly spreads “Corona Jihad” by refusing to eat from Muslim men. After the Tablighi Jamat debate, the phrase was developed. “After you watch the movie, you’ll see that it was handled differently. This has been used by him (Sinha) as an idea that already existed, but the movie also includes another idea. Which, when you see it, will convince you that, at the end of the day, people are all the same,” the 68-year-old actor continued.

The film Bheed will be in black and white. It will be released in theaters on March 24, 2023, and was produced by T-Series and Benaras Mediaworks.

Rajkummar Rao’s Bheed trailer transports you to the horrors of Covid-19 lockdown

Rajkummar Rao
  • Rajkummar Rao fighting for them and Dia Mirza crying while talking to a child.
  • The trailer of Bheed, based on the Covid-19 pandemic.
  • Highlighted the effects of the first lockdown on migrant workers.

T-Series has released the trailer for the upcoming movie Bheed, which is based on the gloomy Covid-19 pandemic. On Friday, they uploaded the nearly two-minute-long video to their YouTube channel. The repercussions of the first lockdown in 2020 on migrant workers were addressed in the trailer.

Several migrant laborers attempted to return home in the trailer as Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared a complete lockdown. The migrant laborers could be seen on the video being beaten up and having disinfectant sprayed on them as they sat by the roadside.

“Justice is always in the hands of the powerful,” said Rajkummar Rao, who portrays an upright police officer. Justice would be different if the weak served it. He was repeatedly shown in the teaser battling for the underprivileged. The video clip also showed Dia Mirza sobbing while on the phone with a youngster.

The fictional journalist Kritika Kamra discusses the problems of migrant workers. She made a comparison between the Covid-19 lockout and the 1947 partition of India. Due to concerns about the spread of disease after Tablighi Jamat, Pankaj Kapur forbids children in his bus from eating meals provided by Muslim men.

With Rajkummar, Bhumi Pednekar played a doctor who aspires to effect change. Do you want to be a hero? Ashutosh Rana slapped Rajkummar as the trailer came to a close. a distraught Rajkummar responded, “Sir, why not? I also desire to be a hero. How long do I have to give them?”

The movie depicts the tense period of national lockdown during which state borders were closed due to concerns about the coronavirus spreading. It shows how thousands were stranded away from home.

Bheed, directed by Anubhav Sinha, will open in theaters on March 24. The movie, which was primarily shot in Lucknow, was co-produced by Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar. Virendra Saxena, Aditya Shrivastav, and Karan Pandit are all included in the cast of Bheed.

Anubhav had previously stated in a statement, as reported by the news agency PTI, “The story of Bheed takes place during a time when everything for humanity was in danger. The main reason for using black and white for the film’s aesthetics was to emphasize how the social difference during India’s Lockdown and the experiences people had during the 1947 India partition were startlingly comparable. This tale is about people whose lives were abruptly altered and whose colors were erased when the country’s boundary was drawn.”

I consider it an honour to co-star on-screen alongside one of Bollywood’s best actors. I’ve learned a lot from you. As an actor, what I’m learning from this team is… GROWTH .”
