PTI urges Senate Secretary to postpone election of Senate heads

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) has submitted an application to the Senate Secretary against the election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman.

In the application submitted by PTI Senator Saifullah Niazi to the Senate Secretariat, it has been said that the election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman Senate should be postponed until the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senate election.

“The position adopted in the petition is that post-Senate chairman and deputy chairman are lying vacant, you are the custodian of the house, your duty is to fulfill your constitutional responsibility, and you are requested not to start the process of selecting the chairman and deputy chairman of the senate unless elections are not held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this election should not be held”.

On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) challenged the election of chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate in Islamabad High Court.

5 senators of PTI filed a petition to stop the election of the chairman and deputy chairman.

The petition filed in the Islamabad High Court was signed by Senator Zarqa, Saifullah Niazi, Saifullah Abro, Falaknaz Chitrali, Fauzia Arshad, and Humayun Mohmand.

In the petition of PTI, it has been stated that the purpose of establishing the senate is to ensure equal representation to all the provinces, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being deprived of its legitimate right, so until the election of the senate seats of the province, the chairman and deputy chairman. The selection should be stopped.

On the other hand, the election of chairman and deputy chairman in the Senate will be held tomorrow, in which Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar will preside over the Senate meeting as the presiding officer.

The Senate Secretariat has issued a circular for the Senate officers regarding the swearing-in of the newly elected members and the election of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Senate.

PTI forms 12-member political committee

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) formed 14-member political committee and this will be directly answerable to the party founder.

According to the statement issued by PTI, the political committee will finalize the decisions of the PTI Core Committee. The political committee will now formulate the strategy in connection with the PTI.

The political committee has been formed under the direction of PTI founder. Omar Ayub will lead the PTI’s 14-member political committee.  The 14-members political comprised on Umar Ayub Khan, Gohar Khan and Senator Shibli Faraz.

Meanwhile , Ali Amin Gandapur, Asad Qaiser, Sher Afzal Marwat, Shah Farman, Rauf Hassan, Aon Abbas Buppi, Hammad Azhar,  Atif Khan, Hafiz Farhat Abbas will also be included in the committee.

Similarly, Mian Aslam and Khalid Khurshid have also been included in the political committee.

It should be noted that a decision was taken to form a new committee in the light of the instructions of PTI founder.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) founder Imran Khan was acquitted in another case of Long March vandalism registered in Islamabad’s Margalla police station.

PESHAWAR: Azam Swati has approached the Peshawar High Court(PHC) on the issue of postponing the Senate elections for not taking the oath of the members of reserved seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.

PTI leader Azam Swati’s lawyer, Ali Azeem Afridi, advocate submitted a petition to the Peshawar High Court, in which it has been decided that postponing the Senate elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is illegal.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued the decision without hearing the Senate candidates. Those who heard were just elected and they did not even take the oath.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Appellate Tribunal allowed former Chief Minister Punjab and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) President Pervaiz Elahi to contest the by-election.

PESHAWAR: The nomination papers of two Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) leaders for the Senate elections were rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan(ECP).

ECP Spokesperson said the electoral body rejected the nomination papers of PTI leaders Murad Saeed and Azam Swati for the Senate election from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on general and technocrat seats, respectively.

Similarly, the nomination papers of the leader of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Parliamentarians and former chief minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan have also been rejected.

The ECP has also issued the final list of 30 candidates whose nomination papers have been approved including 16 for general seats, eight for technocrat, and six for women’s seats.

The development comes as the ECP is set to hold elections for 48 seats of the upper house on April 2 which were vacated after the expiration of the six-year term of the incumbent senators on March 11.

The members of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sindh, and Punjab assemblies would vote to elect members against seven general seats, two women and two seats for technocrats, including Ulema.

FIA Cyber ​​Circle Islamabad has issued a summon notice to Sher Afzal Marwat for inquiry on the complaint of Barrister Aqeel Malik.

In the notice issued by FIA, it is said that a tweet was sent from your (Sher Afzal)Twitter handle on March 9, to appear before FIA ​​Cybercrime Circle with evidence on March 18 at 10 am for inquiry.

The PTI politician had made several posts on X, formerly Twitter, on March 9 and it remains unclear as to which one of his tweets was the basis of the complaint.

One of his tweets was about his claims of being assassinated by paid assassins at Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s behest.

“It is imperative to publicly acknowledge that ‘Maryam Nawaz Sharif’ poses a threat to my life, as she has orchestrated an ‘assassination attempt against me,’ which can take place at any time,” Marwat wrote in his post on the aforementioned date.

IHC orders to fix mechanism of meetings with PTI founder in Jail

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court(IHC) has ordered a fixing mechanism for meeting the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) founder in Adiala Jail.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir of Islamabad High Court heard the petition against the order banning meetings with the founder of PTI in jail.

Superintendent Adiala Jail Asad Warriach appeared in the Islamabad High Court and said that hundreds of requests for meetings are receiving.

Lawyer Sher Afzal Marwat said that it has been decided in the court of Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan, on which the Superintendent of Adiala Jail said that there was an order that six people will be allowed to visit apart from the lawyers.

The court has allowed 6 people to meet PTI founder daily which is not possible for jail administration and there were 7,000 prisoners in the jail.

Justice Arbab Tahir talking to the Superintendent of Adiala Jail said that jail administration comes with a new objection every day.

Superintendent Adiala Jail Asad Waraich said, “I am also following the order of the court, this is also the notification of the Punjab Home Department”.

The court told the superintendent of Adiala Jail that it was decided on your terms that when will it meet, there are already contempt of court petitions against you.
