Court reserves verdict on long march vandalism case

ISLAMABAD: The District and Session Court of Islamabad has reserved its verdict in the Long March vandalism on the acquittal plea of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s founder, Sheikh Rasheed Ahmad, Asad Umar and Ali Muhammad Nawaz.

Judicial Migistrat Malik Imran on Monday heard the acquittal plea of accusers mentioned in the long march vandalism case.

During the course of hearing, the prosecutor completed its arguments.

Judicial Magistrate, Malik Imran will pronounce the verdict on June 13.

It may be mentioned that a case registered against the PTI founder and others under the vandalism section at I-9 police station.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) founder Imran Khan was acquitted in another case of Long March vandalism registered in Islamabad’s Margalla police station.

The court said in the verdict that the incident of Long March vandalism was stated by the prosecution, no witness was involved in the investigation.

The court declared that the assistant sub-inspector is not authorized to issue a notification on behalf of the plaintiff’s case, and the assistant sub-inspector is also not authorized to register the case as a plaintiff.

The court said that the CCTV was also not provided in the court and the investigating officer did not present any evidence against the founder PTI and others, so they are acquitted.

It should be noted that a case was registered against Imran Khan and others under the provisions of inciting public and public servants.

The investigating officer said that the three accused have been found guilty in the Jinnah House attack case in the investigation. The Joint Investigation Team(JIT) has declared the three accused guilty.

The investigating officer said that the police wanted to arrest the three for investigation as Aleema Khan was found to be present on the spot, on which the lawyer told the court that Aleema Khan and Uzma Khan were not named in the case.

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) summoned Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Asad Umar in connection with the investigation of the alleged American cypher.

The anti-terrorism wing of FIA has issued notices to former federal ministers Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Asad Umar, directing them to appear on July 24.

Earlier, the FIA ​​Anti-Terrorism Wing issued summon notices to the former Prime Minister and Chairman of PTI in connection with the investigation of the cypher.

Chairman PTI was summoned to the FIA ​​headquarters on July 25 where he will be questioned by the Joint Inquiry Team(JIT). The notice has also sought all documents related to the cypher and said that non-appearance is entitled to unilateral action.

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) has decided to file a petition against the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for postponing elections in Punjab.

Addressing a press conference, senior PTI leaders Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar said Barrister Ali Zafar will file a plea in the Supreme Court (SC) tomorrow. They said President Dr. Arif Alvi had already announced the elections scheduled in Punjab on April 30 and added that ECP could not postpone polls.

They said a contempt of court petition will also be filed against Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for not announcing the elections schedule in the province. They said 96 bars of Pakistan strongly condemned the postponement of elections in Punjab.

Fawad Chaudhry said the crackdown against PTI workers and supporters has continued across the country while 753 PTI workers have been arrested so far.  He said the arrest of PTI workers and supporters was contempt of high court orders.

He said the judiciary is under extreme pressure in Pakistan after criticisms from PML-N leadership. He hoped that supermen court judges will provide justice and millions of people attached expectations to the apex court.

He welcomed the formation of a commission to probe alleged murder attack allegations on behalf of Imran Khan by the Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and said PTI will present reservations to the commission.

Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry said PTI will hold a power show on March 25 at Minar e Pakistan Lahore which will prove referendum.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) reserved its verdict on petition filed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seeking a date for elections in the Punjab province.

The court is expected to announce the verdict later today.

Justice Jawad Hassan heard a plea filed by PTI Secretary General Asad Umar seeking direction to the Punjab governor for immediately announcing the date of elections in the province.

Inspector General of Punjab Police, Dr Usman Anwar and the chief secretary appeared before the court.

During the course of proceedings, Punjab IGP assured the court they will follow whatever decision made by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Punjab Governor’s lawyer maintained that Baligh ur Rehman was not bound to give a date for elections as an interim cabinet had already formed. He pleaded with the court to return the pleas as inadmissible with a fine on the petitioner.

PTI’s counsel Barrister Ali Zafar, while responding to the governor’s lawyer, said President Arif Alvi could give election date as the IGP and chief secretary had assured of performing their duties.

LAHORE: Former federal minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf(PTI) leader Asad Umar said that the government is deliberately creating confusion about holding elections.

After the hearing of the case of issuing the election schedule, Asad Umar while talking to the media along with his lawyer Barrister Ali Zafar in the Lahore High Court and said that the Governor and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) believe that the elections are to be held in 90 days, but they are not ready to announce the schedule of elections.

The former federal minister said that the Election Commission itself has written that 54 days are required for preparation, and the government is deliberately creating ambiguity, after today’s court proceedings there is no confusion in holding the elections.

Asad Umar said that Imran Khan is reviewing the proposals of the Parliamentary Board and the PTI chairman will issue tickets to the candidates soon. He directed the workers not to waste a single day and prepare for the elections. He hoped PTI will win elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

PTI leader said that the foreign exchange reserves have gone to the lowest level but the government is focusing on arrests. He said the government has arrested Sheikh Rashid, Imran Riaz Khan, and others while the constitution is being trampled underfoot by registering cases of treason.

PTI leader Asad Umar said instead of giving relief to the people the resources have been diverted toward arrests while the government is focusing on revenge.

He said that 220 million people in the country will not let anyone take away their rights and people will not bow down to those who work against the rule of law. He said the country should not be prevented from going to new elections.

In his Twitter message, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the Election Commission’s decision to issue a bailable warrant is an insult to the High Court’s decision.
