ATC orders release of Umar Ayub, Raja Basharat

RAWALPINDI: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) Rawalpindi granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) leaders Umar Ayub and Raja Basharat and ordered their release.

The PTI leaders who were arrested outside the Adiala Jail were produced in the anti-terrorism court today. The arrested 5 leaders including Umar Ayub Khan, Raja Basharat and Nasir Chatta were produced in the court of ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah.

Umar Ayub and Raja Basharat’s lawyer Babar Awan appeared in the court and gave their arguments on the post-arrest petition.

The court approved the bail of 5 PTI leaders including Omar Ayub and Raja Basharat after their arrest, the court ordered the release of Omar Ayub and Raja Basharat.

Later, Umar Ayub and Raja Basharat were released after the completion of the court proceedings.

The court issued contempt of court notices to 5 officers including SP President Rawalpindi Nabil Khokhar.

Earlier, despite court orders, contempt of court notices were issued to police officers for not producing Umar Ayub and other leaders.

PTI’s Umar Ayub appointed Leader of Opposition in NA

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has declared Umar Ayub as the Leader of the Opposition.

Umar Ayub, the nominated candidate for the opposition leader, met Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in which Speaker Ayaz Sadiq confirmed Umar Ayub’s request.

After the Speaker declared Umar Ayub Khan the Leader of the Opposition, the phase of appointing the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly was completed.

It may be noted that after the February 8 elections, 86 independent members joined the Sunni Ittehad Council, excluding Barrister Gohar Khan and Umar Ayub.

PTI founder nominates Sher Afzal Marwat as Chairman of PAC

RAWALPINDI: Founder Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) nominated Umar Ayub as Leader of the Opposition and Sher Afzal Marwat as Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

Speaking to journalists in Adiala Jail, PTI founder Imran Khan said that there is no knowledge about the forward block of 40 MPs in Punjab.

He demanded that a re-inquiry should be conducted on Donald Lou’s statement. The American ambassador did not come to the jail to meet him. “If I meet the American ambassador, I will discuss Donald Lou’s statement and the role of the American embassy”.

Imran Khan said that the original cipher is present in the Foreign Office and we were given a paraphrased copy, if the cipher is lost, the Prime Minister is not the watchman of his office, the office has some security protocols.

He said that a separate judicial commission should be formed to investigate the May 9 incidents and the February 8 elections. A political party is being dissolved by forming a foundation on May 9. Due to the rigged election, the presidential and senate elections have no status.

ATC grants pre-arrest interim bail to Umar Ayub in May 6 riots

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) granted pre-arrest interim bail until April 20 to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Umar Ayub in 5 cases related to May 9 riots.

The court directed Umar Ayub to furnish surety bonds of Rs. 50,000 in each case.

ATC Judge Arshad Javed heard the bail petitions filed by the PTI leader.

Umar Ayub, along with his counsel Babar Awan, appeared before the court during the proceedings.

Umar Ayub had approached the court for bail in five cases, including cases of attacking Jinnah House, Askari Tower, and torching Shadman Police Station.

PTI founder finalizes name of Umar Ayub as opposition leader

ISLAMABAD: The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has given approval to make Umar Ayub the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Chairman PTI Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said that everyone knows how the cases are being conducted, yet there is faith in the higher judiciary.

Gohar Khan said that he will challenge the decision of Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on reserved seats in Lahore High Court and Sindh High Court. He said the way the Al Qadir Trust trial is going is in front of everyone, all the final orders in the case will be taken to the High Court.

PTI, SIC decide to make Umar Ayub opposition leader in NA

ISLAMABAD: The Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC)  and Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) have decided on the opposition leader in the National Assembly.

It has been decided to make Umar Ayub, who is likely to be backed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), the leader of the opposition. Umar Ayub is also the Central General Secretary of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

It should be noted that during the special session of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister was elected in the President of the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif was elected as the Prime Minister.

Shahbaz Sharif got 201 votes from National Assembly members and his opponent Umar Ayub, candidate of PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council, got 92 votes.

For the Leader of the House in the National Assembly, the Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) got the support of the Pakistan People’s Party, Balochistan Awami Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan, and Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party, while Umar Ayub was the candidate for the Prime Ministership from the Sunni Ittehad Council.

Nomination papers of Shehbaz Sharif, Umar Ayub approved for PM slot

ISLAMABAD: The nomination papers of Shehbaz Sharif and Umar Ayub for the Leader of the House have been approved in the National Assembly.

The nomination papers of Shehbaz Sharif, the candidate of the coalition parties for the Prime Ministership, were submitted to the Secretary of the National Assembly, which was received by the Secretary General of the National Assembly, Tahir Hussain.

In comparison to Shehbaz Sharif, Sunni Ittehad Council candidate Umar Ayub also submitted papers.

According to the National Assembly Secretariat, 8 nomination papers were submitted for Shehbaz Sharif and 4 for Umar Ayub, which were approved after scrutiny.

Sunni Ittehad Council’s objection to Shahbaz Sharif’s nomination papers was rejected.

It should be noted that 169 votes are required for the Prime Ministership in the 336-member House and the coalition parties have the support of 209 members.

Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has the support of the People’s Party, Balochistan Awami Party, MQM Pakistan, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party while Umar Ayub is the prime ministerial candidate from Sunni Ittehad Council and their number of members in the House is 91.

PTI announces to challenges ECP’s notice on intra-party polls

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced to challenge the Election Commission of Pakistan’s notice on intra-party elections.

In the recent intra-party election of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, the party appointed Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as party chairman in place of Imran Khan and Umar Ayub as secretary general.

Former federal minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was elected as Vice Chairman while former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was elected as President in PTI’s intra-party election.

A few days ago, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder member Akbar S. Babar and other leaders challenged PTI’s intra-party elections and demanded new elections by declaring them null and void.

The petitioners said that PTI’s intra-party elections are also against the party constitution, neither election forms nor voter lists were issued. “We wanted to participate in the elections but no one was present in the PTI secretariat” they added.

The Election Commission issued a notice to the PTI on the petitions and sought a response to the pleas filed against the intra-party elections.

Now PTI has decided to challenge the Election Commission’s notice on intra-party elections in the court.

Vice President PTI Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Zahir Shah Toru said that he will file a writ petition in the Peshawar High Court against the notice of the ECP.

PTI kicks out Raja Riaz, Noor Alam Khan, and 11 others

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) expelled 13 members of the National Assembly, including Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Raja Riaz, and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the Parliament Noor Alam Khan.

According to the PTI statement, apart from Raja Riaz and Noor Alam Khan, Ramesh Kumar Vankwani, Nuzhat Pathan, Wajiha Qamar, Sardar Riaz Mehmood Khan Mazari, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon have also been expelled from the party.

The PTI statement said that Nawab Sher, Makhdoomzada Syed Basit Ahmad Sultan, Afzal Khan Dhandla, Muhammad Abdul Ghaffar Wattoo, Aamir Talal Gopang, and Ahmed Hussain Dahar have been expelled from the party and their core membership has been terminated.

The dismissal notices have been issued to party quitters.

PTI has directed all the leaders to refrain from using the name and position of the party in any way.

Secretary General PTI Umar Ayub also issued a show cause notice to Malik Shaukat for violating party policy.

According to the statement, a show cause notice was issued to Shaukat Ali for attending the new party meeting without bringing it to the knowledge of the competent authority and an explanation has been sought from him within two days.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) expelled 22 leaders from South Punjab over a violation of party policy.

An official notification was issued with the signature of Secretary General Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Umar Ayub.

Tehreek-e-Insaf terminated the basic membership of former Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, former MNA Sardar Muhammad Khan Leghari, and former federal minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf also suspended the basic membership of Javed Akhtar Ansari, Farooq Azam Malik, and Muhammad Akhtar Malik for deviating from the party policy.

Similarly, Syed Muhammad Nadeem Shah, Ahtsham ul Haq, Bahawal Khan Abbasi, and Sabeen Gul were also expelled from Tehreek-e-Insaaf.

Mian Shafi Muhammad, Syed Muhammad Asghar Shah, Mian Tariq Abdullah, and Muhammad Afzal were also terminated from Tehreek-e-Insaf.

Tehreek-e-Insaf has also terminated the primary membership of Ahsan-ul-Haq, Saleem Akhtar, Muhammad Zaheeruddin Khan Alizai, and Salman Khan Gadoka from the party.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf also expelled Akram Khanu, Muhyiddin Solangi, Makhdoom Afkhar ul Hasan and Raja Muhammad Saleem from the party.

Membership of all members from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf was terminated immediately.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has issued a notification to suspend the basic membership of 22 more leaders for deviating from the party policy.

A formal notification was issued under the signature of Secretary General PTI Umar Ayub according to which the basic membership of Mahmood Khan, Zia Bangash, and Shaukat Ali was terminated.

According to the notification, the party membership of Muhammad Yaqoob Sheikh, Ehtisham Javed Akbar, and Agha Ikramullah Gandapur was terminated while Iqbal Wazir, Zahoor Shakir, Wilson Wazir, and Syed Muhammad Ishtiaq were also expelled from the party.

Similarly, Syed Iqbal Mian, Syed Ghazi Ghazan Jamal, Sher Akbar Khan, Shah Faisal Khan, Saleh Muhammad, Mufti Ubaidullah Khan, Nadeem Khayal Khan, Muhammad Shafiq Afridi, and Muhammad Didar were terminated from their primary membership. PTI also expelled Mohibullah Khan, Ibrahim Khattak, and Ahmad Hussain Shah from the party.

Earlier, PTI had terminated the primary party membership of former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak. PTI issued a show-cause notice to Pervez Khattak on 21 June 2023, after which his party membership was terminated for non-response.
