3rd round of talks between PTI, govt to be held today

ISLAMABAD: The third round of talks between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) will be held today.

The meeting will be held at Parliament House, which will be chaired by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. In the meeting, PTI will present its demands in writing.

The PTI committee has taken complete instructions from the founding PTI regarding the meeting, and has given its demands in writing in the light of these instructions.

On the other hand, sources in the government committee said  that after PTI’s demands come forward, we will also take our own leadership into confidence.

Earlier, Rana Sanaullah of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) has advised the PTI to act with restraint in today’s negotiations and said that which people do the PTI consider as political prisoners.

Rana Sanaullah said that these things may take time and hoped PTI will give its terms regarding the list of prisoners and the judicial commission.

He said that he will respond to PTI’s written demands after consulting the party and its allies.

NA speaker declares parliament lodges as sub-jail for arrested PTI MNAs

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has declared the lodges of 10 arrested members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) as sub-jails.

Speaker National Assembly has also signed the file declaring the lodges of PTI members as sub-jails while the National Assembly Secretariat has also issued a notification in this regard.

It should be remembered that 10 members of the assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf were arrested inside the Parliament House on the night of September 9. Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, taking notice of the matter, suspended the Sergeant National Assembly and 4 security personnel.

Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq issued the production order of the arrested PTI members from the Parliament House and formed a committee to inquire into the matter.

On the other hand, a two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court invalidated the 8-day physical remand of the PTI members arrested from the Parliament House and said that the Speaker of the National Assembly is doing his job, but the court has to look into the matter of arrests.

PTI MNA Mumtaz Mustafa dies of heart attack

ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) Mumtaz Mustafa passed away due to heart attack.

According to the spokesperson of the National Assembly, Mumtaz Mustafa died due to a heart attack.

Regarding the death of the MNA, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has also been informed and it is being told that due to the death of the member, the National Assembly session will be adjourned today without proceeding.

Raees Mumtaz Mustafa Chachar belonged to Rahim Yar Khan South Punjab and was elected from NA 171 Rahim Yar Khan on PTI ticket.

Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan offered his condolences on Mustafa’s death, praising his kind personality.

Speaker NA directs ministers to ensure their presence in house

ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that all ministries have been instructed to ensure their officials’ presence in the house.

He said that all ministries must send their additional secretaries to attend the session, clarifying that individuals below this designation will not be permitted to sit in the house.

He said it had been decided to commence the house proceedings on time and directed all members to ensure their presence during the session.

PTI’s Umar Ayub appointed Leader of Opposition in NA

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has declared Umar Ayub as the Leader of the Opposition.

Umar Ayub, the nominated candidate for the opposition leader, met Speaker Ayaz Sadiq in which Speaker Ayaz Sadiq confirmed Umar Ayub’s request.

After the Speaker declared Umar Ayub Khan the Leader of the Opposition, the phase of appointing the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly was completed.

It may be noted that after the February 8 elections, 86 independent members joined the Sunni Ittehad Council, excluding Barrister Gohar Khan and Umar Ayub.

Speaker NA calls on PM Shehbaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.

During the meeting, they discussed issues related to legislation and parliamentary affairs, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

The prime minister appreciated the speaker for conducting the proceedings of the National Assembly smoothly.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the establishment of a monitoring cell at the Prime Minister House for protection of women and to stop violence against them.

He made the announcement at the event to give away Khatun-e-Pakistan awards to prominent women on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

While giving details of the measures taken for the protection and welfare of women, he also informed about formation of a committee for protection of rights and provision of equal opportunities to women.

The committee will prepare and present a quarterly and bi-annual report on legislative reforms and policy measures to achieve these targets.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq elected as Speaker National Assembly

ISLAMABAD: Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, the joint candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) and  People People’s Party(PPP), was once again elected Speaker of the National Assembly.

The session for the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly is being chaired by outgoing Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf.

After completing the process, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf said Sardar Ayaz Sadiq was elected Speaker by getting 199 votes while Malik Muhammad Amir Dogar, candidate of Sunni Ittehad Council, got 91 votes.

Later, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf administered the oath as the 23rd Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq.

After being elected Speaker Ayaz Sadiq went to the seat of Malik Amir Dogar and shook hands with him, Ayaz Sadiq also shook hands with Hamid Raza and Umar Ayub Khan.

After the election of the speaker, there will be voting in the National Assembly for the election of the deputy speaker. For the deputy speaker, the candidates of PML-N and PPP are Ghulam Mustafa Shah, while Junaid Akbar is the candidate from the Sunni Ittehad Council.

Earlier, Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf told the members of the House about the procedure for electing the Speaker, after which Barrister Gohar and Umar Ayub of the Sunni Ittehad Council expressed their views on the point of order and said that until the members of the House the number is not complete how the election can be conducted.
