Punjab to open schools in Rawalpindi Division from tomorrow

LAHORE: Punjab government has decided to open educational institutions in Rawalpindi division from tomorrow.

According to the media reports, it has been decided to open educational institutions in Rawalpindi Division and other districts from yesterday and the administration has issued a notification to open educational institutions.

Due to reduction in smog and improvement in weather, notification has been issued to open schools in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal from tomorrow.

It should be noted that earlier the Punjab government had issued a notification to close educational institutions from November 17 to November 24.

On the other hand, smog situation in Punjab started to improve.

Rahim Yar Khan has been declared as the most polluted city of Punjab with 669 air particulate meters while  Bahawalpur is second with 443 air index and Lahore is third with 402.

Motorway M4 from Abdul Hakeem to Multan, M5 from Multan to Sukkur has been closed due to smog, while Lahore-Sialkot Motorway M11 has been completely closed.

Among the most polluted cities in the world, the Indian capital New Delhi ranks first, with an air index of 1003.

ECP directs NA-171 candidates to follow election rules

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the candidates of NA-171 Rahim Yar Khan-III by-election to follow the election rules.

The Election Commission has drawn the attention of the candidates to Section 182 of the Elections Act, 2017, According to which no candidate can hold, participate in any public meeting or promote any procession or participate in the meeting during the period of 48 hours before the end of the poll.

The spokesperson of the ECP says that violation of the rules can be punished with two years imprisonment or a fine of Rs 100,000 or both.

Election campaigning in NA 171 will end on the intervening night of 10th and 11th September 2024. Political parties and candidates are requested for a peaceful and orderly election process.

The spokesperson of the ECP says that the polling will be held on September 12, 2024, and public participation is requested.

DPO Rahim Yar Khan removed from his post

LAHORE: 3 officers including District Police Officer (DPO) Rahim Yar Khan Imran Ahmed were removed from the post following the brutal assault resulted in the martyrdom  of 12 policemen with several other injured in attack on police vehicle by bandits last night.

According to the notification, DPO Imran Ahmed has been removed from the post and Rizwan Umar Gondal has been appointed as DPO in his place.

Additional Superintendent Police Rahim Yar Khan Javed Akhtar was ordered to report to the Central Police Office, the notification said. The notification states that DSP Organized Crime Rahim Yar Khan Kaleem Ahmed has been made OSD.

PTI MNA Mumtaz Mustafa dies of heart attack

ISLAMABAD: Member National Assembly of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) Mumtaz Mustafa passed away due to heart attack.

According to the spokesperson of the National Assembly, Mumtaz Mustafa died due to a heart attack.

Regarding the death of the MNA, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has also been informed and it is being told that due to the death of the member, the National Assembly session will be adjourned today without proceeding.

Raees Mumtaz Mustafa Chachar belonged to Rahim Yar Khan South Punjab and was elected from NA 171 Rahim Yar Khan on PTI ticket.

Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan offered his condolences on Mustafa’s death, praising his kind personality.

Bandits kill five farmers including girl in Rahim Yar Khan

Rahim Yar Khan: Bandits attacked and killed five farmers including a girl in Rahim Yar Khan(RYK) District and four bandits were also shot dead by police retaliatory action while two officers were also martyred.

According to the police, more than a dozen bandits from the Kush and Shar gang attacked the farmers during sugarcane harvesting in the Machhka area.

4 farmers were killed and three were injured due to the firing by the bandits. A 17-year-old girl standing on the roof was also killed by the bullets.

After the incident, the police surrounded the robbers, and an encounter took place during which four robbers were killed.

Meanwhile, two police personnel Muhammad Qasim and Jam Irshad were martyred by the firing of the bandits while four others were injured. The dead bodies and injured were shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan.

The exchange of fire between the Kush gang and the Shar gang is going on, the police of Circle Bhong Sadiqabad are involved in the operation and Ghotki police have also been called.
