President Zardari congratulate Makhdoom Tahir on bye-election victory

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulated Makhdoom Tahir Rasheed on winning the bye-election in the NA-171 constituency of Rahim Yar Khan.

The president, in a statement issued by the President House, expressed the hope that Makhdoom Tahir would come up to the expectations of the people of his constituency.

He instructed him to give a special attention on the resolution of people’s issues and their welfare.

President Zardari expressed the hope that Makhdoom Tahir would duly represent the people of Rahim Yar Khan in the National Assembly, besides thanking the voters for reposing trust in him.

On the other hand, Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has congratulated Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin on his resounding victory in the NA-171 Rahim Yar Khan by-election.

In a statement issued by the Media Cell Bilawal House, he expressed his delight over the victory and praised the people of Rahim Yar Khan for placing their trust in the leadership of the PPP.

He also thanked the PPP workers, local leadership, and supporters for their tireless efforts in securing this success.

“This victory reflects the people’s confidence in the PPP’s vision for a progressive, inclusive, and democratic Pakistan,” he said.

Bilawal Bhutto said that Makhdoom Tahir Rashiduddin’s win was not just a triumph for the party but also for the people of Rahim Yar Khan, who have chosen progress over regression and development over hollow promises.

“This mandate reminds us of our responsibility to serve the people with honesty, integrity, and transparency,” he added.

He also emphasized the party’s commitment to addressing the needs of the people, ensuring good governance, and upholding the principles of democracy.

ECP directs NA-171 candidates to follow election rules

ECP asks lawmakers to submit asset details by December 31

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the candidates of NA-171 Rahim Yar Khan-III by-election to follow the election rules.

The Election Commission has drawn the attention of the candidates to Section 182 of the Elections Act, 2017, According to which no candidate can hold, participate in any public meeting or promote any procession or participate in the meeting during the period of 48 hours before the end of the poll.

The spokesperson of the ECP says that violation of the rules can be punished with two years imprisonment or a fine of Rs 100,000 or both.

Election campaigning in NA 171 will end on the intervening night of 10th and 11th September 2024. Political parties and candidates are requested for a peaceful and orderly election process.

The spokesperson of the ECP says that the polling will be held on September 12, 2024, and public participation is requested.

ECP extends last date for submission of nomination papers for LG polls

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has extended the date of Islamabad local Government Elections in the federal capital.

According to the ECP, the application date of various political parties has been extended and the date for joining the election process of expected candidates has also been extended.

The Election Commission said that the date has been extended for all possible convenience to participate in the election process.

According to the Election Commission, the municipal elections in Islamabad will now be held on October 9, 2024, for which the date of submission of nomination papers has been extended to August 28.

The Election Commission has also officially notified the revised election programme.

It should be noted that the Election Commission of Pakistan had earlier announced that local government elections would be held in Islamabad on September 29 and the date for submission of nomination papers for local body elections was ending today.

On the other hand, Election Commission (ECP) has fixed August 26 last date for receipt of applications for postal ballot papers for Bye-Election in NA-171 R.Y. Khan-III.

This facility, under the law, has been extended to the persons in Government service, members of Armed Forces, their wives and such of their children as are registered voters and ordinarily reside with them provided they are stationed at a place other than the place in which their constituency is situated, persons with any physical disability who are unable to travel and hold a National Identity Card with a logo for physical disability issued by the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA).

Persons who are detained in prison or held in custody are also entitled to vote by postal ballot.

The persons appointed by the Returning Officers, including police personnel, for the performance of any duty in connection with an election at polling stations other than the one at which they are entitled to cast their vote are advised to apply for postal ballot to the Returning Officers within three days of their appointment.
