  • Dar said that a false narrative is being created and run.
  • PTI leader said Javed Ali’s life is in danger.

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Usman Dar has said that there is no evidence of corruption against him and he appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of the matter.

Addressing a press conference along with citizen Javed Ali, Usman Dar said that Javed Ali’s 164 video statement is being played on channels. Javed Ali himself will tell how this statement was recorded and under what circumstances it was recorded.

He said, “A few days ago some channels broadcast that Usman Dar has fled the country and I want to say to these channels that Usman Dar is in Pakistan and I stand with Imran Khan and will continue to stand.”

The PTI leader said “If I had been accused of corruption, I would not have returned to Pakistan. Maryam Nawaz’s father has fled the country for three years and has not returned yet.”

He said that a false narrative is being created and run in the country. He clarified that Javed was never his employee and he has been abducted to fix Usman Dar.

Usman Dar said that “I swear by placing my hands on the Holy Quran that I could not reveal even one hundred and fifty rupees of corruption. Hang me in Sialkot, I appeal to the Chief Justice to take strict notice of my case.”

He further said that “We are not backing down from Imran Khan, that is why we are being threatened, Javed Ali’s life is in danger, his family is in danger and appealed to the Chief Justice should take notice of this case.”

On the other hand, Javed Ali said that he was blindfolded and taken to an unknown location, 10 policemen took him, tortured him, and told him to accept the commission for Usman Dar.

He further said “ I was tied up like a dog, I did not contact any contractor and took money from anyone and gave it to Umar Dar. I am not a PA of Usman Dar nor was he related to any contractor, my statement being run is wrong.”

CJP directs ECP to implement LHC orders on Punjab polls date

CJP directs ECP
  • ECP delegation met with Punjab Governor on the issue.
  • Governor directed the ECP to seek further clarity in this regard.
  • Justice Ayesha Malik asked why the ECP was consulting with governor.

ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to implement the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) orders on general elections in Punjab.

The directives were issued by the Supreme Court when it took up the petition of the Punjab Assembly lawmakers that were de-seated for not towing the party lines.

The petition was dismissed as the petitioner informed the bench that it was inadmissible following the dissolution of the assembly.

At the outset of the hearing, CJP Umar Ata Bandial observed that the issue of restoring the dissident lawmakers was over as the assembly had been dissolved.

The CJP then asked the Election Commission what it was doing on the directives issued by the high court to give a date for the elections.

At this, ECP’s director-general of law told the bench that a delegation of the commission had met Punjab Governor Baligh Ur Rehman on the issue a day earlier. He added that the governor had directed the ECP to seek further clarity in this regard.

“The legal way has to be taken by the governor or the Election Commission?” asked CJP. The ECP official said that it was the governor’s domain.

At that point, Justice Ayesha Malik interjected and asked why the ECP was consulting with the governor.

“Does the Constitution make it liable for the ECP to consult the governor before the elections?” she asked.

Meanwhile, CJP Bandial told the ECP counsel that the high court had asked them to hold elections and they should implement its order.

To this, ECP’s DG law informed the bench that the court had also directed them to consult with the governor.

“If the high court has given this order then follow it,” remarked CJP Bandial and disposed of the plea.

FO rejects unwarranted assertions in connection with Hindu temple incident

Pakistan

Pakistan has on Saturday rejected completely unwarranted assertions by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs in connection with the Hindu temple incident in Karak.

In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said this is not the first time the Indian Government has tried to feign concern for minority rights elsewhere while being the most egregious and persistent violator of minority rights itself.

He said the RSS-BJP regime’s record is replete with instances of gross and systemic violations of the rights of minorities, in particular Muslims.

The Spokesperson said as a perennial purveyor of state-sponsored discrimination against its minorities, India is in no position to pontificate on the issue of minority rights elsewhere.

He said the clear difference between India and Pakistan in respect of minority rights can be gauged from the fact that the accused in the Karak incident were immediately arrested and orders were issued for the repair of the temple.

Moreover, the highest level of judiciary took immediate notice and senior political leadership condemned the incident.

Whereas, in India, the blatant acts of discrimination against Muslims and other minorities take place with state complicity.
