ANF arrests 6 foreign drug peddlers from Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: A 6-member group of Nigerians involved in drug supply in educational institutions of Islamabad was arrested.

According to Anti-Narcotics Force(ANF) officials, a Nigerian national was arrested during the operation in Islamabad.

Officials say that during the raids to identify the accused, 5 more Nigerians were arrested near the hotel in Sector G-13. The flat of the accused was raided where 135 grams of cocaine and 3.2 kilograms of ice were recovered.

According to officials, the accused have confessed to supplying drugs to students in hostels and educational institutions.

ANF ​​officials say that a large number of foreign nationals arrested in drug trafficking in Pakistan this year are from African countries, drug smugglers have been adopting new and dangerous methods for smuggling.

Officials added that ANF operations against drug trafficking in educational institutions will continue.

ISLAMABAD: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in a crackdown on drug supply in educational institutions of twin cities, seized 2.4 kg hashish from an accused who was a student of BS Computer Science in a local university.

The accused was arrested with drugs near Waheedabad Colony on Lahtrar Road. During investigation, the accused confessed to supplying drugs in different hostels.

Drug use and sale in educational institutions are a hindrance to educational attainment and the agency is vigilant and always in the search of those involved in this heinous crime, said the press release.

There are also threats to the future of youth. It is unfortunate that students are involved in drug peddling, said the note adding that the ANF continues its relentless efforts in the fight against drug trafficking.

Stopping the spread of the scourge of drugs is not possible without the cooperation of parents and teachers.

In order to maintain the sanctity of the educational institutions, it is necessary for the administration to keep a close watch on the student and residential hostels.

In another operation against drug trafficking the agency recovered more than 716 kg of drugs and arrested 6 accused.

ANF recovered 745 grams of ice from a passenger going to Doha at Peshawar Airport and 200 grams of cocaine was recovered from the parcel sent to Karachi at the cargo office in Lahore while 150 kg of heroin and 166 kg of morphine were recovered from Chaman 110 kg of heroin and 52 kg of morphine were recovered from Yaro Pishin, 100 kg hashish recovered from RCD Road Lasbela, 70 kg hashish and 6.2 kg opium were recovered from two suspects in Pindi Bhattian, Hafizabad, 50.4 kg hashish was recovered from the accused in North Bypass Karachi, 30 kg hashish was recovered from two suspects near Burhan Interchange Attock and 11 kg hashish recovered from Orakzai.

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court(LHC) has issued an order to keep all educational institutions closed on Saturdays till the end of January due to smog.

The Lahore High Court issued a written order directing to issuing of a notification to close schools, colleges, and universities.

Justice Shahid Karim issued a written order on the petitions filed for the remedy of smog, in which it is said that the Punjab government is taking steps regarding working from home two days a week.

The order said that the word gym closure should be suspended in the notification, and the Meteorological Department should take departmental action against the officers who do not take action against smog.

On the other hand,  Lahore’s air quality index reached alarming levels where the number of particulate meters reached a record 330 at 7 am.

According to the Air Quality Index (AQI), the air in central Punjab, including Lahore and Faisalabad, is still highly polluted by smog.

Due to the high air quality index, Lahore has been declared as the most polluted city, where the number of particulate meters was recorded at 330 at 7 am, while the polluted air has made it difficult for the people of Lahore to breathe.

KARACHI: Preparations for the first major crackdown against drug suppliers in Karachi’s educational institutions have begun.

In order to take action against drug dealers, the lists of those who sell and supply drugs in educational institutions have been prepared based on the districts. Data from the Criminal Records Office is also attached.

According to the report prepared against drug peddling in educational institutions of Karachi, 12 groups of drug dealers are active in the educational institutions of South District, three big groups are working around the educational institutions of Malir, while houses established in the premises of government schools in Korangi where a family supplies drugs.

According to the report, three big groups are working in the public and private educational institutions of Lyari, five groups in the central district sell drugs near the educational institutions, while in the district east, a group consisting of more than 30 accused people supply drugs to students.

LAHORE/PESHAWAR: The Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) governments have announced the schedule for the winter vacation for all public and private educational institutions colleges and universities.

The Punjab government has announced winter vacations for public and private colleges and universities.

The Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) will remain closed from December 24 till December 31, according to the official notification issued by Secretary HED.

The educational institutions will resume academic activities on January 2, the notification stated.

On other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced the winter vacation in cold regions of the province would begin on January 1 and continue for 45 days – February 15.

However, there will be no vacation for colleges and universities situated in the plains of the province.

Meanwhile, Government of Balochistan has announced winter vocations in educational institutions and issued a notification in the regard.

The educational institutions will be closed from December 15 to February 28 in the cold areas of the province.

Whereas the hot areas of the province will remain closed from December 22 to December 31.
