CM Domki seeks federal govt assistance for flood affectees

QUETTA: Caretaker Chief Minister Balochistan Ali Mardan Khan Domki urged the federal government to provide assistance from 20 percent grant sharing of Balochistan in Geneva funds and expedite the process of support for the implementation of the program agreed with the provincial government for the rehabilitation of flood affected sectors.

The chief minister told the meeting of the Policy and Strategy Committee that last year 2022 flood caused a loss of more than Rs 700 billion in the province so the province is suffering from financial difficulties.

Ali Mardan Khan Domki participated in the meeting through a video link and expressed his views on the situation in Balochistan. The devastating rains and floods caused huge losses, the most damage happened in Balochistan after Sindh.

Sharing data, he said 321,019 houses were destroyed in Balochistan while 96,166 were partially affected, 43 bridges were washed away, at least 2280 km of the road network was destroyed, and as,many as 1039 educational institutions were destroyed while 1793 were partially affected.

Ali Mardan Khan Domki said that the funds allocated for Balochistan in the international rehabilitation aid are insufficient, which must be increased in proportion to the losses.

KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan People’s Party(PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari formed a parliamentary board to give party tickets to the candidates of Balochistan.

According to the party declaration, the parliamentary board will consist of eight-members to issue tickets to the candidates for the elections.

The parliamentary board will include Changez Jamali, Rozi Khan Kakar, Sarbuland Khan Jogezai, Ali Madad Jattak, Mir Baz Muhammad Khetran, Mir Sadiq Umrani, Saber Baloch and Ghazala Gola.

The parliamentary board will also consult the divisional and district presidents regarding award of the party tickets.

Earlier, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had constituted provincial parliamentary boards of the party which will approve tickets for candidates for the coming general elections in January next year in the country.

The divisional and district presidents will also be invited for consultation in these provincial election boards.

RAWALPINDI: Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has recovered 256 kilogram drugs in four different operation across the country while three accused were also arrested.

Spokesman ANF said 187 kg ketamine was recovered during a raid conducted at a warehouse in Maripur, Karachi.

The recovered ketamine was concealed in salt bags for smuggling abroad. A resident of Karachi was arrested during the operation.

In another operation, 50 kg hashish was recovered from a vehicle intercepted near Shikarpur Road, Sukkur. Two accused residents of Balochistan and Dera Bugti were arrested during the operation.

In third operation, 8 kg heroin was recovered from secret cavities of a vehicle stopped near Aminpur Road, Faisalabad.

During the operation, two accused residents of Charsadda were netted. In fourth operation, 11 kg hashish concealed for smuggling was recovered from an uninhabited area of Zakhakhel Khyber.
