Federal Govt to try to resolve missing person issue: Sarfraz Bugti

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister, Sarfraz Bugti said that the caretaker government would try its best to resolve the issue of missing persons.

Talking to media persons after appearing before the Islamabad High Court’s Chief Justice, he said that chief minister Baluchistan had constituted an inquiry commission to probe the murder allegations on Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and if allegation was proved correct, an action would be taken according to the law.

The minister said that the issue was sub-judice and should not be discussed publicly however the commission earlier constituted for missing persons would present its report on the recovery of 25 missing persons to the court.

Responding to a quarry, Bugti said that there was a very thin line between self-disappearance, enforced disappearance and missing, adding there were many cases of self-disappearances however the cases of enforced disappearances yet to be decided under the UN charter.

The minister further said that the commission would categorize the cases of self-disappearances, enforced disappearances and missing persons after reviewing all the cases.

He said that development was not only a issue of Baluchistan but of the entire country and the caretaker government had very limited mandate but it would make possible efforts in that regard within its domain.

The CTD Investigation Department in Karachi arrested the commander of the Lyari gang war while taking action.

The in-charge CTD said that the arrested accused Mir Muhammad Bakhsh Dashti is commander of the Waseem Jozi group. The accused has been arrested from Shaitan Chowk Old Golimar.

The in-charge of CTD said that the arrested accused is involved in encounters with the police and rangers, while he is also involved in serious crimes including murder, terrorism, and extortion.

The accused used to collect extortion from businessmen and hotel owners in Pak Colony while he was also involved in running a drug den.

CTD officials said that after recovering the weapon from the arrested accused the investigation is underway.

PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has added the name of Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) spokesperson to the list of 152 most wanted persons.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter-Terrorism Department has also shared the name, photo and other details of PDMA spokesperson Ehsan Dawar in the most wanted list.

PDMA spokesperson Ehsan Dawar is a former journalist and belongs to Mir Ali, North Waziristan.

President of Miran Shah Press Club Safdar Dawar said that Ehsan Dawar has been a member and senior journalist of Miran Shah Press Club and is now the spokesperson of PDMA, including his name to the list of terrorists is condemnable.

Ehsan Dawar said that he is still present in the PDMA office, he was surprised to see his name in the list, why was my name put in the list of terrorists with photos. “I will take other legal action including defamation in consultation with the officials of the department”.

On the other hand, according to CTD, a case has been registered against a person named Ehsanullah Khan in 2019 at the Anti-Terrorism Police Station under anti-terrorism provisions. The names are also included.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the law enforcement agencies arrested the commander of the outlawed TTP from Pakpattan in a major operation.

CTD spokesman said that apart from Pakpattan, CTD arrested four alleged terrorists while conducting operations in Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, and Sahiwal.

CTD officials said that explosive materials, five detonators, two hand grenades, and weapons were also recovered from the possession of the alleged terrorists.

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have launched the “Knock the Door” campaign to facilitate the registration of domestic employees and bolster law and order in the federal capital.

During the ongoing campaign, dedicated teams from the Islamabad Capital Police are taking to the streets and visiting residences to ensure the registration of both tenants and domestic workers.

Additionally, they are addressing any concerns and issues raised by the citizens. Within the framework of this operation, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Islamabad has already compiled data on 201 domestic employees working in 492 houses within the jurisdiction of Sumbal Police Station during the last 24 hours.

The primary objective of this campaign is to bolster law and order in the federal capital, thereby minimizing the risk of any untoward incidents. Registering tenants and domestic workers not only enables authorities to closely monitor any suspicious activities but also serves as a deterrent against potential wrongdoers.

Citizens are encouraged to verify the identity of individuals dressed in civilian attire who visit their homes to collect data. Unregistered employees and tenants could potentially pose security risks, such as theft and robbery, by impersonating ordinary citizens.

PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Peshawar has arrested two main terrorists of the outlawed Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) involved in extortion.

Deputy Inspector General(DIG) of Police CTD Financing Unit Imran Shahid while talking to the media said that two terrorists involved in extortion have been arrested. He said arrested terrorists are associated with the outlawed TTP.

DIG CTD said that the terrorists used to call and demand extortion and threatened to kill them if they did not pay the extortion.

He said that 28 written complaints were filed against the incidents, but many people avoided taking legal action against the accused due to fear. He added that most of their followers are in Mohmand and they aim to extort money from the citizens and business community by intimidation.

Imran Shahid further said that the arrested terrorists were involved in 28 cases of extortion and were operating in Mohmand district, along with the arrested accused, 71 other people are also included in the group.

According to the CTD in-charge, the terrorist was identified as Nasrullah, who is the main commander of TTP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he was arrested from Kuwari Colony and weapons were recovered.

The terrorist not only provided accommodation to his colleagues in Karachi but also treated the injured colleagues. Besides, he used to send money in different ways in Afghanistan.

According to CTD, the brother and close relatives of the accused are also involved in terrorism.

Earlier, CTD arrested the main commander of the banned organization Daesh from Karachi and recovered 30 bore pistols from his possession in February 2023.

Abdul Malik, the commander of the banned organization Daesh, made important revelations during the investigation.

According to the authorities, the accused has been associated with ISIS Mullah Abdul Manan group since 2011 and has Afghan citizenship while living in Karachi for a long time.
