Peshawar: At least two police personnel were martyred in the firing of terrorists in Lakki Marwat area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The firing incident took place near Khairukhel Pakka area of ​​Lakki Marwat where the terrorists targeted the policemen.

According to the police, the two officials were going to the police station on a motorcycle, during which the terrorists opened fire on them, while further investigation of the incident is going on.

DPO Lakki Marwat said that the bodies of the police personnel have been shifted to DHQ Hospital and action has been initiated to arrest the accused.

On the other hand, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi condemned the incident of terrorists firing on police personnel near Lakki Marwat and paid tribute to the police personnel who lost their lives.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyred police personnel and said that they salute the sacrifice of the martyred police personnel, and stand with the families of the martyrs in this hour of sorrow.

Two more polio cases surface in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

ISLAMABAD: The Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health has confirmed the detection of two more wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) cases in Pakistan, bringing the number of total cases in the country this year to 45.

The lab confirmed the cases from Lakki Marwat, where a girl child is affected, and from Dera Ismail Khan, where a male child is affected.

Genetic sequencing of the samples collected from the children is underway.

These are the second polio cases reported from Dera Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat this year, where environmental samples have tested positive in recent months.

So far, 22 polio cases have been reported from Balochistan,12 from Sindh, nine from KP and one each from Punjab and Islamabad.

Security forces kill 11 terrorists in Lakki Marwat IBO

Security forces killed seven terrorists in KP IBOs

RAWALPINDI: Security forces killed 11 terrorists during an intelligence based operation (IBO) in Lakki Marwat District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), in response to the recent Improvised Explosive Device explosion that claimed the lives of seven brave soldiers including Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas and Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir, the security forces launched an intelligence based operation in Lakki Marwat District to bring the perpetrators of the heinous act to justice.

During conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the terrorists’ location, as result of which eleven terrorists were successfully neutralized and sent to hell while multiple terrorist hideouts were also busted.

“Sanitization operation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area as the security forces are determined to wipe out the menace of terrorism from the country,” ISPR said.

PM attends funeral prayer of Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas

LAHORE: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended funeral prayer (Namaz-e-Janaza) of Shaheed Captain Faraz Ilyas in Kasur who was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in District Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The funeral prayer was attended by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, IG Police Punjab and a number of senior military officers, civil authorities and residents.

The prime minister also met with the parents of shaheed captain and expressed condolences.

He announced to transform the native village of martyred officer as model village and renamed it as “Faraz Ilyas Shaheed”.

He told the parents that the sacrifice of their son would not go in vain and prayed for the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.

Under the Quranic teachings, a shaheed had an elevated place in Jannah, he said, adding that a large number of Jawans of armed forces had laid down their lives for the motherland.

The prime minister said that the nation was proud of its brave sons and the coward terrorists could not succeed in shaking their strong resolve.

Separately, on X account, the prime minister said that he was deeply saddened by the martyrdom of Pak Army personnel including a captain in a targeted attack in District Lakki Marwat.

“The sacrifices of our brave soldiers and citizens is a debt on us that we must repay by relentlessly eliminating terrorism from our nation. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” he further posted.

The late captain was laid to rest with complete military honours. The prime minister offered Fateha at his grave and placed a flower wreath.

He also prayed for the high ranks of the departed soul.

Lakki Marwat: Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gul Muhammad Khan and his gunman were martyred in terrorit attack on a police vehicle in Lakki Marwat.

According to the police, a policeman was also injured in the firing by the terrorists and he was to Naurang Hospital.

Rescue sources said heavy police force reached the spot after firing incident and a search operation is underway in the area to arrest the terrorists.

It should be remembered that earlier in March 2023, DSP Iqbal Mohmand was martyred along with his gunman in a terrorist attack in Lakki Marwat.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned a terrorist attack on police personnel in district Lakki Marwat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The prime minister prayed for the high ranks of Shaheed DSP Gul Muhammad Khan, Naseem Gul, constable and others and expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.

The prime minister said that KP police had been acting like a bulwark against terrorism.

PESHAWAR:  Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has claimed to have killed two terrorists in Lakki Marwat.

According to the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) spokesperson, the terrorists belong to the outlawed Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Tipu Gul group.

The CTD spokesman said that the terrorists were wanted in several cases including bomb attacks and target killing.

According to CTD spokesman, the dead terrorists were also involved in the bomb attack on Shaheed Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Iqbal Mohmand, while weapons have also been recovered from the possession of the terrorists.

LAKKI MARWAT: A police personnel was martyred after unidentified terrorists attacked a police check post in Lakki Marwat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Police Spokesman said the suspects attacked the Shahbaz Khel check post with heavy weapons. Policemen deployed at the checkpost retaliated against the attack.

During the exchange of firing, one constable Tahseen embraced martyrdom, while a terrorist also killed. The funeral prayer of the martyred policeman was offered at 10am.

Police sources said that the killed terrorist has been identified as Owais, the bodies have been shifted to DHQ Hospital for post-mortem.

It should be noted that the search operation in the area is going on after the attack.

Earlier, At least four policemen were martyred and four others injured in terrorists attacked on police station in the Lakki Marwat area of KP.
