RAWALPINDI: The funeral prayers of two army soldiers, who sacrificed their lives in North Waziristan gunfight, were offered in Mardan and Bajaur areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), both soldiers embraced martyrdom while fighting valiantly during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Spinwam, North Waziristan district.

The funeral prayer of martyred sepoy Afzal Khan was offered at Badar Gah in Mardan and funeral prayer of martyred Sepoy Imran Ullah was offered at Sarai Sar in Bajaur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

A large number of senior serving and retired officers, soldiers, relatives and people participated in the funeral prayers. Both Sepoy Afzal Khan and Sepoy Imran Ullah were laid to rest with full military honours.

The military’s top brass paid homage to the brave soldiers and reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the country against all internal and external threats.

Earlier, two soldiers embraced martyrdom while valiantly fighting against terrorists in Spinwam, North Waziristan district, according to a statement by military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

RAWALPINDI: Funeral prayers of Major Muhammad Jawad and Captain Sagheer Abbas have been offered at Rawalpindi and Kot Addu respectively.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both officers embraced martyrdom due to an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion during sanitisation operation in Kohlu, Balochistan.

Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen Muhammad Saeed and a large number of serving and retired officers, soldiers, relatives and people from different segments of society attended the funeral.

The martyred officers were laid to rest with full military honours, the military’s press wing.

RAWALPINDI: Two army officials embraced martyrdom  in Kohlu area of Balchositan during sanitisation operation on Friday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), based on credible intelligence, a sanitisation operation was conducted in Kohlu area of Balochistan to deny terrorists any liberty of action.

During the ensuing sanitisation of the area, an IED exploded close to the leading party. Resultantly, two officers including Major Jawad and Captain Sagheer embraced martyrdom and laid their lives in defence of the motherland against an externally perpetrated threat.

The sanitization operation continues in the area to apprehend perpetrators and enemies of peace. The military’s media wing said such cowardly acts by inimical elements cannot sabotage the hard earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan.

The security forces are determined to neutralise their nefarious designs even at the cost of blood and lives, it added.

RAWALPINDI: Two troops of the Pakistan Army have departed for Turkey on the instruction of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir for rescue and relief operations after a massive earthquake jolts Turkey and resulted in thousands of deaths.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations(ISPR), among the troops going to Turkey, the Urban Search and Rescue Team includes experts, tracking dogs, and modern equipment, while a medical team consisting of army doctors, nursing staff, and technicians also left for Turkey.

ISPR said that a 30-bed mobile hospital has also been sent to Turkey earthquake victims, while tents, blankets, and other relief items have also been sent as relief supplies.

ISPR said that the rescue teams left for Turkey last night by a special aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force, while rescue and relief activities are being carried out in close coordination with the Turkish government, armed forces, and the embassy in Islamabad.

ISPR said that Pakistani support troops will remain in the earthquake-affected areas of Turkey until the completion of rescue and relief work.

According to ISPR, the people and armed forces of Pakistan stand with the Turkish brothers and will provide all possible help to the Turkish brothers in this hour of need.

ISPR said that Pakistan’s armed forces and military leadership have expressed sympathy and condolences to the victims of the Turkish earthquake.

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army has paid homage to Kashmiri people on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and the Chiefs of Armed Forces have issued a special message on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

ISPR paid tribute on the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day and said that Kashmiris should get self-determination as per aspirations of United Nations resolutions and aspirations of the people of Kashmir.

The ISPR further said that the freedom movement of Kashmiris cannot be suppressed through oppression.

RAWALPINDI: As many as two terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Esham area of North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the intense firing continued for hours during which two terrorists were killed. The security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the possession of terrorists.

The killed terrorists remained actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces.

ISPR said the incident re-vindicates Pak Army’s resolve to have zero tolerance for terrorism in Pakistan and reaffirms its determination to take on any and all entities that resort to violence.

Earlier, on Jan 28, a terrorist was killed by security forces during an Intelligence-Based Operation in Mir Ali area of North Waziristan district.

ISPR issues report on rescue services provided by Army during flood

RAWALPINDI: Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday issued a comprehensive report services provided by the Pakistan Army after the devastating flood in Pakistan in 2022.

According to the ISPR, Pakistan Army established the National Flood Response Coordination Center on September 2, 2022, while more than 17,000 soldiers, 452 vehicles, 222 boats, and 60 dewatering teams of the Pakistan Army participated in the rescue and relief operation.

ISPR said, 624 helicopter flights were carried out during relief operations in various areas of Balochistan and South Punjab, including Uthal, Lasbela, Awaran, Koh e Suleman, Rajanpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Along with the distribution ration, 4,274 people were shifted to safe places.
ISPR said that 65,299 people were evacuated from the flood-hit areas of Lasbela, Jhal Magsi, Rajanpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Dadu, and other areas.

According to ISPR, along with donations, Pakistan Army distributed 1,476 tons of 3-day ration to the flood-affected areas of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, KP, and GB. Be 780 tons of ration in Sindh and 492 tons of ration in Balochistan were donated to the flood victims and along with the overall cash donations as well as especially the General Officers also donated one month’s salary for the flood victims.

ISPR said that the Pakistan Army has set up more than 300 medical camps in various flood-affected areas where 4,38,032 patients have been treated and 150 relief camps have been set up in flood-affected areas where 2,50,000 people have been provided shelter and necessities.
ISPR said that 48,571 essential items and 5,20,391 food packets were distributed by Pakistan Army in various flood-affected areas.

ISPR said that 277 flood relief collection points were established in different areas of Pakistan from where 12,458 tons of relief items were sent to the flood-affected areas while the items collected from Hyderabad and Puno Aqil were sent to various flood-affected areas of Sindh including Dadu, Sanghar, Thatta, and Badin.

According to ISPR, Pakistan Army provided full support to Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) by providing 1,65,887 tents, 33,376 tents, 1,33,655 food packets, 10,458 hygiene kits and 1, 96,312 mosquito nets distributed to flood victims.

The ISPR said that the Army also provided full support to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) in the distribution and transmission of 1,400 tons of aid received from friendly countries, while the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) along with the National Highway Authority (NHA) worked to repair the Karakoram highway.

According to the ISPR, the Pakistan Army played an important role in estimating the loss of life and property in 102 flood-affected districts of the country in collaboration with the federal government and the NDMA and used its resources to provide first aid to the flood victims in Sindh and Balochistan. Army has also established three villages consisting of prefabricated houses.

ISPR said that 60 tons of warm clothes were also donated by the Pakistan Army to the flood victims of Sindh, Balochistan, Punjab, and KP.

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army soldier was martyred and a terrorist killed during an exchange of fire in Zhob area of Balochistan.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces has launched an intelligence based operation in Zhob area of Balochistan, to stop terrorists from using few suspected routes to move across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and to sneak into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) where terrorists targeted citizens and forces.

 

According to the military’s media wing, security forces intercepted a group of terrorists in the early hours today after continuous surveillance and sanitisation of the area.

During the exchange of fire between the security forces and the militants, one terrorist killed, while Sepoy Haq Nawaz embraced martyrdom and two other soldiers got injured.

According to the ISPR, the terrorists were supported by their facilitators from across the border as well during the exchange of fire.

The sanitisation operation continues in the area to apprehend the remaining perpetrators.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Major General Shoaib Bin Akram, laid floral wreath at Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz Shaheed’s mausoleum.

A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army presented guard of honour. Various people from different walks of life, civil and military officials and relatives of martyrs  attended the wreath laying ceremony.

Muhammad Mehfooz was born on October 25, 1944, in village Malkan of District Rawalpindi. He received his early education from his village. In 1962, he joined the Pakistan Army and after completion of Basic Military Training in 1963, he was placed in 15 Punjab Regiment.

He fought in the Indo-Pak War of 1971 at Wagah Border. On December 17, a company of the 15 Punjab was ordered to attack Kangri Pull inside enemy land. During the attack, a bomb exploded near Lance Naik Muhammad Mehfooz in which he got badly wounded and his machine-gun became out of order.

ISPR: Pakistan Army assisting authorities during urban flooding

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Army troops are assisting authorities in rescue and relief efforts in areas hit by recent urban flooding in various parts of the country, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement.

ISPR in its statement claimed that Pakistan Army Emergency Response teams are consistently busy dewatering and supplying basic food necessities and medical care to affected populations. Pakistan Army dewatering teams are carrying flood relief operations in District Jamshoro, Gharo Grid station, and South Karachi including Shahra e Faisal and Nipa Chowrangi, Lasbela, Turbat, and Quetta.

According to the report, the Pakistan Army assisting authorities and establishes Relief Camps including Medical facilities, and distributes necessary food and ration among the local residents. Various Standby and response teams are stationed at various locations in Sindh and Balochistan for relief activities and to counter any emergency circumstances due to flooding.

Army Chief holds meeting with ambassadors of France, Italy & Germany

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa held important meetings with foreign ambassadors from Germany, Italy, France and the Netherlands.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Mr. Bernhard Stephan Schlagheck – Ambassador of Germany, Mr. Andreas Ferrarese – Ambassador of Italy, Mr. Willem Wouter Plomp – Ambassador of Netherlands and Mr. Yves Manville, Acting Ambassador of France called on COAS Bajwa at General Headquarters (GHQ).

During the meeting, matters of mutual interest, regional security situation including the latest situation in Afghanistan and enhanced bilateral cooperation with the European Union (EU) were discussed.

The Army Chief reiterated that peace in Afghanistan means peace in Pakistan. “Pakistan has no favourites in the ongoing conflict and our sole desire is helping achieve peace and stability in Afghanistan,” he added.

COAS also said that Pakistan values its relations with EU countries and we earnestly look forward to enhance mutually beneficial multi-domain relations based on common interests.

However, the visiting dignitaries also appreciated Pakistan’s role in regional stability and pledged to play their part for further cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.

Earlier this week, COAS Bajwa had reiterated that Pakistan has made every possible effort to facilitate the Afghan peace process leading towards a negotiated settlement with utmost sincerity and will continue to do so.

Chairing a meeting of Corps Commanders’ Conference in Rawalpindi, he had said all stakeholders have to play their part positively for enduring peace in Afghanistan which is pivotal for stability in the region.

“Misperceptions and scapegoating must be avoided to counter designs of spoilers,” he cautioned.

The Army Chief further expressed satisfaction over stringent measures being taken for ensuring effective border control as part of the comprehensive Border Management Regime and asked for a high level of vigil along the western border.

He had also commended formations for maintaining high standards of operational readiness and providing sustained support to civil administration during ongoing national efforts against Covid-19, monsoons and National Polio Drive.

Taking a holistic view of the multifarious security challenges faced by Pakistan in various domains in the evolving milieu, the forum underscored the need for adopting a whole of nation approach.

Babar Iftikhar had said that the objective of holding the press conference was to discuss the security of the country as well as the border situation.

He had added that the objective of holding the conference was to present an analysis of the security challenges of the past decade.

“The last 10 years were a challenging time in every aspect for Pakistan.” He added that in 2020 alone, the coronavirus pandemic and locust attacks put Pakistan’s food security and economy in danger.

Earlier in June, during the retaliation, five brave Pakistan Army soldiers of FC Balochistan embraced martyrdom.

A captain and sepoy of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom after terrorists targeted the security forces using an IED in Khuda Bux Bazar near Pasni, the military’s media wing said on Thursday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the exchange of fire, a Pakistan Army officer Captain Affan Masood and Sepoy Babar Zaman embraced shahadat. However, the search operation is in progress to apprehend the perpetrators, said ISPR.

ISPR further added that such cowardly acts by inimical elements, backed by hostile intelligence agencies (HIAs) cannot sabotage the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan. Security forces are determined to neutralize such nefarious designs at all costs, it said.

Earlier, Four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel had embraced martyrdom and six others injured in a terrorist attack from Afghanistan in Manzakai Sector of Zhob District.

The media wing of the Pakistan Military had said in a statement that the FC troops were moving for the fencing activity in the area when they were ambushed by terrorists from across the border. The FC troops responded promptly.

ISPR added, ‘The injured have been evacuated to CMH Quetta.’

Back in February this year, a Frontier Corps (FC) soldier had embraced martyrdom after terrorists attacked a security check post in Balochistan’s Kech district.

“Terrorist fire raid on FC Balochistan Post established for the security of N-85 Highway near Hoshab, District Kech late last night,” the ISPR stated.

Two security personnel embrace martyrdom In Kurram District Operation

Two Pakistan Army soldiers, including an officer, embraced martyrdom while three others sustained injuries during clashes with militants in the Zewa area of Kurram tribal district on Tuesday.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), three militants were killed during an operation conducted in the Kurram district after receiving information about their presence.

The ISPR said that Captain Basit Ali, 25, and Sepoy Hazrat Bilal, 22, were martyred in an exchange of fire with the militants.

Captain Basit belonged to Haripur district and Sepoy Bilal hailed from Orakzai tribal district.

The officials said that three other soldiers of Frontier Corps sustained wounds.

Paramilitary forces were conducting the operation in the mountainous area in the east of Parachinar to find five kidnapped workers of a cellular company.

The encounter between the security personnel and the militants occurred on Monday.

The ISPR said that a cordon and search operation were in progress in the area to eliminate other militants.

Security forces had conducted multiple operations against militants and the area was de-notified as a conflict zone in 2011.

Earlier, a Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom and two terrorists were killed in a gunfight between security forces and Tehreek-i-Taliban (TTP), the military’s media wing.

According to the statement by ISPR, the Pakistan Army soldier, identified as Nazakat Khan, 32, resident of Attock, lost his life during the operation.

The terrorists gunned down by security forces were active members of the TTP in the area, ISPR said.

The soldiers conducted an Intelligence Based Operations (IBO) in Spinwam, North Waziristan on the reported presence of terrorists.

Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa has stressed the need for better management of the western zone with due focus on border security.

Terrorists targeted Frontier Corps (FC) patrolling party in Sangan, District Sibi on Friday morning, military media wing said.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), during the exchange of fire, heavy losses were inflicted on the terrorists in men and materials.

During the retaliation, five brave Pakistan Army soldiers of FC Balochistan embraced martyrdom.

The martyrs include:-

  1. Havaldar Zafar Ali Khan resident of Lakki Marvat
  2. Lance Naik Hidayat ullah resident of Lakki Marvat
  3. Lance Naik Nasir Abbas resident of Bhakkar
  4. Lance Naik Basheer Ahmed resident of Naseerabad
  5. Sepoy Noor Ullah resident of Lakki Marvat

A search operation is also in progress to block the escape routes of the terrorists and apprehend the perpetrators, added ISPR.

ISPR further added such cowardly acts by inimical elements, backed by Hostile Intelligence Agencies cannot sabotage the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan.

Security forces are determined to neutralize their nefarious designs even at the cost of blood and lives, said ISPR.

Earlier, four Frontier Corps (FC) personnel embraced martyrdom and six others injured in a terrorist attack from Afghanistan in Manzakai Sector of Zhob District.

The media wing of Pakistan Military, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that the FC troops were moving for the fencing activity in the area when they were ambushed by terrorists from across the border. The FC troops responded promptly.

ISPR had added, ‘The injured have been evacuated to CMH Quetta.’
