RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir visited forward posts at Pak-Afghan border in South Waziristan and interacted with the troops.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS Asim Munir laid floral wreath at Yadgar e Shuhada in Wana and visited Formation Headquarters where he was briefed about the operational, training and security matters of the formation as well as progress on development works being undertaken in the Newly Merged Districts (NMDs).

COAS appreciated the CT efforts of the formation and provision of enabling environment for the completion of socio-economic development projects, vital for enduring stability and sustainable progress of NMDs.

COAS reiterated the resolve of the Army to fight against terrorism till elimination of the menace. He vowed that sacrifices of Shuhada of Pakistan would not go in vain and complete peace would inshallah return to Pakistan.

6th International Pakistan Army Team Spirit competition concludes

RAWALPINDI: The 6th International Pakistan Army Team Spirit (PATS) Competition concluded at National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Pabbi with an impressive closing ceremony.

According to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir graced the event as Chief Guest.

Seven Pakistan Army teams, Pakistan Navy and 10 international teams including Bahrain, KSA, Morocco, Uzbekistan, Thailand, Jordan, USA, Iraq, Kazakhstan and Qatar participated in the competition.

Moreover, teams from Azerbaijan, Canada, Gambia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Maldives, Senegal, Sudan, UAE and UK participated as observers.

The competition continued day and night from March 7 to 9 in the mountainous and rugged terrain of Pabbi. Over the years, the competition has gained much popularity and has become an international team spirit evaluation event.

While addressing the ceremony, COAS Asim Munir appreciated the participating teams for their professionalism, endurance and high morale displayed during various stages of the exercise.

COAS reiterated, “As a training exercise, PATS appropriately replicates degree of emphasis given by all armies on physical fitness, combat skills, and teamwork of their troops in face of evolving character of warfare.

“To this end, Pakistan Army upholds soldierly attributes of courage, mutual cooperation, resilience, competence displayed during our ongoing fight against terrorism”.

COAS also gave away prizes and medals to the participants of the competition.

Pakistan Army troops depart for quake-hit Turkiye

RAWALPINDI: Two troops of the Pakistan Army have departed for Turkey on the instruction of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir for rescue and relief operations after a massive earthquake jolts Turkey and resulted in thousands of deaths.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations(ISPR), among the troops going to Turkey, the Urban Search and Rescue Team includes experts, tracking dogs, and modern equipment, while a medical team consisting of army doctors, nursing staff, and technicians also left for Turkey.

ISPR said that a 30-bed mobile hospital has also been sent to Turkey earthquake victims, while tents, blankets, and other relief items have also been sent as relief supplies.

ISPR said that the rescue teams left for Turkey last night by a special aircraft of the Pakistan Air Force, while rescue and relief activities are being carried out in close coordination with the Turkish government, armed forces, and the embassy in Islamabad.

ISPR said that Pakistani support troops will remain in the earthquake-affected areas of Turkey until the completion of rescue and relief work.

According to ISPR, the people and armed forces of Pakistan stand with the Turkish brothers and will provide all possible help to the Turkish brothers in this hour of need.

ISPR said that Pakistan’s armed forces and military leadership have expressed sympathy and condolences to the victims of the Turkish earthquake.
