RAWALPINDI:The mother of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir passed away on the 23rd of Ramzan (March 24).

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement, announcing her passing and offering prayers for her highest ranks in heaven.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and others expressed their condolences.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed his deep grief over the demise of the mother of Chief of the Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.

The president, in a statement, extended condolence and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.

“We share the grief of General Syed Asim Munir over his mother’s passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family during this difficult time,” the president said.

He prayed to Allah Almighty for peace for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family to bear the loss.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his heartfelt condolence over the passing of the mother of Chief of the Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir.

The prime minister expressed solidarity with the bereaved family in this hour of grief, according to a PM Office press release.

He also prayed to Allah Almighty for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Meanwhile, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani also prayed for the departed soul and extended his sympathies with the COAS.
