3 Dead, 2 Injured As Explosion Occurs At POF In Wah Cantt: ISPR

At least three people were killed and two others received critical wounds after an accidental explosion occurred in one of the plants of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) on Thursday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The explosion in POF occurred due to some technical fault during the routine operation of a plant. The injured have been taken to hospital in Wah Cantt for medical assistance.

The ISPR added that the technical emergency response team at the POF has freed the accidental site and the situation is under control.

The windows of nearby buildings were shattered by the intensity of the blast, sources said.

On the other hand, on Friday morning, a Pakistan Army soldier Naik Zia-ud-Din, a resident of Mardan, got critically injured and embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire as terrorists targeted a military post in Sararogha, South Waziristan District.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on the night of 11/12 August, a Pakistan Army military post in Sararogha detected a suspicious move of 3-4 terrorists in its area of responsibility.

A Quick Reaction Force (QRF) was immediately dispatched to challenge the suspected terrorists; however, the troops were fired upon, ISPR said.

Due to effective response, one terrorist got killed and another was apprehended in injured condition, added the military media wing.

The apprehended terrorist later revealed that they planned to conduct a fire raid on the military post.

ISPR further said that Pakistan Army is determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism. Sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve, it added.

Pakistan successfully carries out training launch Ballistic Missile Ghaznavi

Pakistan has on Thursday (today) conducted a successful training launch of the surface to surface ballistic missile Ghaznavi.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the successful training launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of Army Strategic Forces Command, besides re-validating technical parameters of the weapon system. 

Earlier, Director-General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar had said that there is “no organized terrorist infrastructure like in the past.”

Babar Iftikhar had said that the objective of holding the press conference was to discuss the security of the country as well as the border situation.

He had added that the objective of holding the conference was to present an analysis of the security challenges of the past decade.

“The last 10 years were a challenging time in every aspect for Pakistan.” He added that in 2020 alone, the coronavirus pandemic and locust attacks put Pakistan’s food security and economy in danger.

Moreover, he had said that proscribed organizations were being helped to harm Pakistan on the western border.

“Despite all these challenges, the state, institutions, the armed forces and intelligence agencies and most importantly the Pakistani people unitedly faced these challenges,” he said.

Babar added that socioeconomic projects had been launched along with restoring peace in the tribal districts along with the western border.

“Concrete steps were taken to solidify the Pak-Afghan and Pak-Iran borders and “as a result of successful operations against terrorism, the security situation improved considerably.”
