26 killed, 40 others injured in suicide blast at Quetta railway station

QUETTA: At least 26 people were killed and 40 others were injured in  in a suicide  blast at Quetta railway station on Saturday.

According to rescue sources, 26 people died in the explosion while 40 were injured in the blast. Sources have said that the injured are being shifted to the hospital.

The rescue teams have been rushed to the blast site and shifted bodied and injured to nearby hospital.

According to the railway authorities, Jaffar Express was supposed to leave for Peshawar at 9 o’clock, the train was not yet on the platform. The blast occurred near reservation office.

On the other hand, according to Dr. Noor Ullah of Civil Hospital Quetta, an emergency has been declared in the hospital while additional doctors and staff have been called for medical assistance.

Talking to the media, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP ) Operation Quetta Muhammad Baloch confirmed that death of several people due to the explosion at the railway station,

He said initially explosion seems to be a suicide.

He explosion happened when a large number of passengers were on the platform to depart from the Jaffar Express.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti expressed his deepest condolences over the tragic loss of life and those who sustained injuries in the early Saturday morning Quetta blast.

In a message on private news channel, he strongly condemned the Quetta blast, stating that police and rescue teams swiftly responded to the scene.

He emphasized that the terrorist attack targeted innocent civilians, which is utterly inhumane.

May our collective grief translate into action against terrorism and our resolve for peace only grow stronger, he added.

Balochistan Govt to chase down terrorists: CM Bugti

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the state would welcome those who shun the path of violence and surrender, however, those killing innocent unarmed people would be chased down till they are taken to task.

Addressing a press conference along with Adeela Baloch and her father, the chief minister hailed her joining of mainstream, saying, that the state would always welcome those who wanted to become the responsible citizens and oppose anti-state elements.

He said that the state would fulfill its responsibility to protect the innocent lives dealing terrorists with iron hands.

CM Bugti warned the miscreants creating law and order not to compel government for closing the door of negotiation and launching major operations.

Expressing government resolve, he said maintaining the law and order and security is not a difficult task as it will take no time to eliminate the terrorists from this land.

However, he noted “government does not believe in launching military operations because it will cause a mass migration and unease for a large number of patriotic Baloch.

He said smart kinetic intelligence based operations are being conducted to curb terrorism, targeting those taking innocent lives under the garb of Baloch rights and furthering the foreign agenda.

Government is well aware of the false propaganda furthered by the foreign funded terrorists, he said urging youth not to become part of these elements and continue their education for securing best future.

The chief minister emphasized the parents to take the responsibility of supervision of their children and inform the government and its institutions timely in case they are disconnected with their children as terrorists were attracting the youth to bring them in their camps in mountains.

“A large number of youth including educated boys and girls are reportedly in the control of such miscreants who allured them of bright future and comfortable life here after,” he added.

Sarfraz Bugti called the youth to become part of the mainstream and don’t be allured by false propaganda of terrorists and foreign elements created for their nefarious designs.

He said the government is providing best free education opportunities to the youth at the top universities of the world whereas the terrorists are giving arms in their hands.

Condemning the ghastly killing of labourers in Panjgur he said “It is not the Baloch traditions to kill innocent workers.

CM Bugti takes notice of closed schools

QUETTA:Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti took notice of closed government schools of Pishin district and directed to reopen them till December 14, 2024 for interest of students future.

He expressed these views while visiting of Pishin District. The chief minister said that no compromise would be made on education, provincial government was starving to provide all opportunities to official schools to improve quality of education saying that teachers would be appointed on contract basis to meet shortage of them in the educational institutions.

The CM said that Pishin would be made model town with the aim to provide basic facilities to public in the area.

“Public issues will be solved by ensuring of good governance” he said and added that he was striving to ensure better services delivery of government departments after functional them which was also essential for progress of the province.

Balochistan Cabinet approves budget proposal for financial year 2024-25

QUETTA: The Balochistan Cabinet approved the budget proposal for the next financial year 2024-25 in a pre-budget Cabinet meeting at CM House.

The Balochistan cabinet has put the health and education sector on priority in the budget for the next financial year 2024-25.

A finance department official briefed the provincial cabinet that the agriculture, livestock, mineral and mines development projects have been included in the upcoming budget.

The cabinet has also approved new pension contribution scheme and proposed the implementation of the new pension scheme from the financial year 2024-25.

The cabinet was briefed that around 3000 new job opportunities would be included in the budget.

For the first time in the history of Balochistan, 70 percent of the approved development projects have been made part of the budget proposal.

The cabinet has agreed that 100 percent approved development projects would be included in the budget for the next financial year.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said that the work on the development projects of the new financial year would be started from the first month.

He added that all provincial ministers and assembly members will personally monitor the development projects in their respective departments and constituencies.

Sarfraz Bugti said that no more funds would be released to the departments showing slowness in implementing projects in order to encourage the authorities concerns to complete the approved development projects on time.

A total of Rs 138.40 billion has been earmarked for general public services, and Rs 93.12 billion has been designated for maintaining law and order.

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Minister for Interior Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti  said that all types of security forces would be provided to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), to hold free and fair elections in the country.

ECP would have funds from the concerned finance department to complete the requirement of conducting general elections in Pakistan, he said while talking to media.

Commenting on security threats to the political leaders, he said political party leaders didn’t have any threats including leaders of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf but Fazal ur Rehman had security concerns.

“We had provided security to Fazal ur Rehman during his trip to Quetta, he stated. In reply to a question about illegal Afghans, he said nearly 400,000 illegal persons had left Pakistan after the deadline. There is no restriction to visit Pakistan for business or visit purposes but everyone should get a visa before coming to Pakistan”, he said.

To a question about terrorism incidents reported in Pakistan, he said some illegal Afghan people have been found involved in criminal activities. Indian RAW always tried to sabotage the peaceful environment of Pakistani areas including Baluchistan, he said. Law enforcement agencies are fully alert to defeat terrorism in a befitting manner, he said.

Federal Govt to try to resolve missing person issue: Sarfraz Bugti

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister, Sarfraz Bugti said that the caretaker government would try its best to resolve the issue of missing persons.

Talking to media persons after appearing before the Islamabad High Court’s Chief Justice, he said that chief minister Baluchistan had constituted an inquiry commission to probe the murder allegations on Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and if allegation was proved correct, an action would be taken according to the law.

The minister said that the issue was sub-judice and should not be discussed publicly however the commission earlier constituted for missing persons would present its report on the recovery of 25 missing persons to the court.

Responding to a quarry, Bugti said that there was a very thin line between self-disappearance, enforced disappearance and missing, adding there were many cases of self-disappearances however the cases of enforced disappearances yet to be decided under the UN charter.

The minister further said that the commission would categorize the cases of self-disappearances, enforced disappearances and missing persons after reviewing all the cases.

He said that development was not only a issue of Baluchistan but of the entire country and the caretaker government had very limited mandate but it would make possible efforts in that regard within its domain.

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti directed all illegal immigrants to leave Pakistan before the deportation deadline of November 01 otherwise the state would show no compromise in this regard.

In a statement regarding the Afghan nationals, Caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti said that there was a discussion regarding the repatriation of the Afghan nationals in which all the stakeholders were present. He said it was decided to give a grace period to the Afghan nationals when there were many people and there was a demand from them that people wanted to go voluntarily.

He said that those who want to go by November 1 should go after that stat show no compromise. He said since the first day it has been said that this is not just an Afghan-based policy, this policy is about illegal aliens, regardless of the country they belong to.

Minister Bugti emphasised the government’s commitment to combat smuggling vigorously.
