ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday inaugurates a passport office set up at NADRA Mega Center North Nazimabad to facilitate the citizens of Karachi.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the passport office set up at NADRA Mega Center North Nazimabad along with Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi.

On the occasion, the top officials briefed the Interior Minister on the working office of the Passport Office at the NADRA Center, saying that the Passport Office would work in 3 shifts and citizens would be able to make 24 hours passport from here.

Prime Minister Shehbaz also conveyed his sympathies to the families of those who lost their loved ones and prayed for the safety of the survivors.

Naqvi announces upgradation of National Police Academy

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Friday announced the upgradation of National Police Academy(NPA).

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the National Police Academy and made a detailed inspection of the academy hostel and mess and reviewed the facilities provided for the officers under training.

Mohsin Naqvi met the officers under training and inquired about the facilities. He checked the quality of food and appreciated the food at the police academy mess.

A high-level meeting regarding the reorganization of the National Police Academy was held under the chairmanship of Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in which the head of the National Police Academy and relevant officials were also present.

During the meeting, the Interior Minister directed to provide standard accommodation facilities to the officers under training and called for the master plan of the National Police Academy.

Speaking on this occasion, Federal Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that first a new master plan of NPA should be prepared by an international standard consultant.  He said 250 million cheque from National Police Foundation will be handed over to NPA soon.

He said that the National Police Academy should be made a financially independent institution and the work of restructuring the academy should be completed in three months.

Mohsin Naqvi directed immediate necessary steps to grant university status to National Police Academy and said that the course of ASPs will have to be made according to modern requirements.

The interior minister said that courses in counter-terrorism, anti-riots, cyber and other fields will also be launched in the academy. The best officers will be appointed in the National Police Academy like the Military Academy Kakul while better allowances and facilities will be provided.

He said that a model police station and training laboratories will also be built in the National Police Academy to provide training to the officers in this regard.

He individually met with the personnel of Rangers, FC, Police, and Sindh Police, appreciating their enthusiasm. The personnel on duty chanted slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad”.

The meeting also focused on the beautification efforts underway in Islamabad and other development projects.

During the session, Minister Naqvi emphasized the need for extensive beautification of key areas, particularly the Red Zone and VIP routes.

He directed that attractive landscaping be implemented along major roads and instructed that the entire city be adorned with vibrant flowers and decorative lights in preparation for the international event.

Minister Naqvi highlighted the importance of completing renovation work on the Jinnah Convention Center, assigning the task of finishing the project promptly.

He stressed the significance of hosting the SCO Summit, noting it as a reflection of the government’s successful foreign policy efforts.

“Special attention must be given to the beautification and cleanliness of Islamabad, with a focus on VIP routes and the Red Zone,” said Naqvi.

He added that these measures were vital to enhancing the city’s appearance ahead of the summit.

Security arrangements for the SCO Summit were also reviewed during the meeting.

The Interior Minister gave clear directives to take firm action against illegal housing societies, stressing the importance of keeping Islamabad free from unauthorized constructions and encroachments.

“There should be no leniency in actions to remove illegal constructions in the city,” Naqvi stated firmly.

In addition to the summit preparations, the meeting addressed public health concerns, particularly dengue prevention.

Minister Naqvi instructed the Commissioners of Islamabad and Rawalpindi to work together to enhance coordination in boundary areas and to focus on eliminating dengue breeding grounds through joint operations.

The Interior Minister further emphasized that surveillance should be intensified around areas where dengue cases have been reported.

The minister praised the police personnel deployed at the Isa Khel police station checkpost for bravely repulsing the attack by 14 Khawarij terrorists.

He said that the police gave a befitting response to the terrorists who attacked under the cover of darkness.

He saluted the brave police personnel who foiled the terrorist attack, saying that the Punjab Police had once again thwarted the evil intentions of the Khawarij terrorists.

He added that the police have always shown bravery and courage in the fight against terrorism.

At least two policemen sustained injuries after more than a dozen terrorists attacked Qabool Khel police check post in Punjab’s Mianwali.

According to a police spokesperson, about 12 to 14 khawarij attacked the check post with rockets and hand grenades.

However, the Punjab Police thwarted attacked by the terrorists after which they escaped, said the spokesperson, adding that two cops were injured in the attack.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Government under the supervision ministry of interior has decided to conduct national drug survey in the country after 11 years.

Under the National Drug Survey, data will be collected from people who use drugs across the country. The data will also be collected from educational institutions, slums and other places.

To complete the national mission of protecting the new generation from drugs, a meeting of the Committee for National Drug Survey was held under the chairmanship of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Federal Anti-Narcotics Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that the National Drug Survey should be comprehensive and authentic in every case. Only with an authentic and comprehensive survey will it be possible to make comprehensive and detailed decisions in the field of anti-narcotics. There will be no compromise on anti-narcotics because it is the future of the nation is on stake.

Mohsin Naqvi further said that ANF and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics should jointly formulate the methodology, nature of required data, sample format, and timeline for conducting the survey. International development organizations should also be contacted for cooperation in conducting the survey.

Remember that the last National Drug Survey was conducted in 2013.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has banned the purchase of petrol motorcycles in the federal capital and said that in order to reduce environmental pollution.  The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will buy only electric bikes in the future and eco-friendly electric buses will be run for the citizens of Islamabad.

He said that international standard emergency services will be provided to the citizens of Islamabad and it has been decided to transfer the emergency services from Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad to CDA.

According to the Minister of Interior, the establishment of Capital WASA will also be implemented soon and the related issues for the establishment of Capital Waste Management Company will be finalized soon.

43 Pakistani prisoners in Sri Lanka to return home

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s success on the diplomatic front will bring 43 Pakistani citizens back to their homes from Siri Lankan jails.

In a high-level meeting on Friday with the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka, Admiral (Retd) Ravindra Chandra Srivijay Gunaratne, it was agreed to immediately repatriate 43 Pakistani citizens imprisoned in Sri Lanka.

The Ministry of Home Affairs had been working with the Sri Lankan authorities for the past month to bring back these prisoners.

The Sri Lankan High Commissioner assured all possible cooperation in this regard. Interior Minister Monsin Naqvi thanked the Sri Lankan High Commissioner for his support for the repatriation of the prisoners.

The arrangements for the return of Pakistani prisoners will be finalised in a few days, Mohsin Naqvi said in his statement.

The minister said that relations between Sri Lanka and Pakistan have been going from strength to strength over the past seven decades. He said that Pakistan wants to further develop mutual relations in various fields with Siri Lanka.

In the meeting, it was agreed to take immediate steps to return the prisoners of both countries to their country. Issues of mutual interest and the development of bilateral relations were also discussed in the meeting.

Both sides agreed to increase cooperation in the field of security and counter-narcotics.

According to media reports, unidentified gunmen shot dead seven labourers in an attack in Sarbandar area of Gwadar in Balochistan early Thursday.

The prime minister prayed to Allah Almighty for peace for the departed souls and sympathised with the bereaved families. “We share the grief of the victim families.

Such an attack is a cowardly act of anti-state elements,” he said and reiterated the resolve to eliminate terrorism from the country.

On the other hand, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the terrorist incident in Gwardar.

Minister Naqvi expressed deep sorrow and grief over the killing of 7 people in the heinous incident.

He expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and said that government equally shares the grief of the bereaved families and standing with the grieving families in the hour of sorrow.

Beasts who play with the lives of innocent people do not deserve to be called human beings, said the minister in his message.

“We are committed to the complete elimination of the scourge of terrorism” Mohsin Naqvi said.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced to upgrade the Pakistan Coast Guards (PCG) on modern lines.

Interior Minister Senator Mohsin Naqvi presided over a meeting at the headquarters of Pakistan Coast Guards in which Secretary Interior, Director General Pakistan Coast Guards Brigadier Ghulam Abass, senior officials and officers of Pakistan Coast Guards also participated.

Interior Minister laid floral wreath at martyrs monument and presented solute to the martyrs for their supreme sacrifice for the defence of the motherland.

He was informed about the professional training of Pakistan Coast Guards and the measures taken to prevent smuggling and the details of the seized drugs, alcohol and other general items, including the process of burning the seized drugs.

Mohsin Naqvi said that despite the limited resources, the performance of the Coast Guards is excellent, but Pakistan Coast Guards have to play a more active role to stop smuggling from the coastal areas.

The Interior Minister was briefed on the professional affairs of Pakistan Coast Guards, in which the efforts to fulfill the responsibilities of Coast Guards and prevent all kinds of smuggling, especially anti-narcotics activities.

The Federal Minister while appreciating the professional performance of the institution, the high determination, courage and efforts of the officers and jawans of the Coast Guards, said Pakistan Coast Guards, is the only one that performs its duties simultaneously on land and sea.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered to block mobile SIMs issued on expired Computerised National Identity Card(CNIC).

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited National Database & Registration Authority’s  headquarters where a meeting was held under his chairmanship in which he directed to build model NADRA offices across the country on the pattern of model police stations in Punjab.

The Interior Minister said that the establishment of model police stations in Punjab improved the image of the police along with the convenience of the people.

Mohsin Naqvi said that death certificate fee is being abolished while  simple system should be introduced for birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates in collaboration with union council offices.

The Interior Minister directed that the complete security of citizens’ data should be ensured and more facilities should be provided on mobile platforms for the convenience of the people, and social media should be used effectively to promote the initiatives of the institution.

The Federal Interior Minister also ordered to block mobile SIMs issued on over-expired identity cards.

Mohsin Naqvi advocates for strict laws on misuse of social media

LAHORE: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has supported strict laws related to the use of social media.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Mohsin Naqvi said that everyone knows the treatment of those who share fake videos in the United Arab Emirates(UAE) and the United Kingdom (UK).

He said that there should be freedom of speech in Pakistan, but there should also be such a law that if someone makes a false accusation, he can be arrested.

On the street crime in Karachi, the Interior Minister said that it is true that crimes are happening, but also see that the police are fighting there daily.

When asked about the Bahawalnagar incident, he said that fighting happens even between brothers at home. It cannot be said that the entire force has been demoralized based on one incident.

He said a similar incident has happened in India too, but look at the attitude there and look at our behavior, we should learn from them.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that the protection of foreigners, especially Chinese citizens, is the first responsibility.

A meeting was held in the Ministry of Interior under the chairmanship of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on security arrangements for Chinese citizens, in which Federal Secretary Interior Khurram Agha and senior officers participated.

In the meeting, the Interior Minister was briefed on the arrangements made for the protection of foreigners, especially Chinese citizens, while the complete security measures were also reviewed.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi directed fool-proof measures to protect Chinese citizens.

Mohsin Naqvi said that the enemy does not want the development and prosperity of Pakistan, but we will not allow the nefarious objectives of the evil elements to succeed, to ensure the implementation of standard operating procedure (SOP) to protect foreigners, especially Chinese citizens.
