ANP decides not to take part in parliamentary elections

PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) has decided not to take part in the parliamentary elections.

ANP chief Asfandyar Wali Khan said that ANP members will not be part of the election process in any assembly and senate.

Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that ANP wants civilian supremacy, democracy and strength of parliament, the party is not in favor of giving vote to anyone in the provincial assemblies and senate in the current situation.

He said that the majority parties offered positions, ANP does not do politics of power or seats. He said  ANP’s principled position is to first take the mandate from the mandate thieves and give it to the real representatives.

Asfandyar Wali Khan said that further decisions regarding the role within the parliament will be made later through consultation.

JUI-F’s Hafiz Hamdullah escapes terror attack in Chaman

QUETTA: The central leader Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Hafiz Hamdullah  narrowly a terror attack in Chaman city of Balochistan province  on Wednesday.

The police said firing incident was reported near Mezai Ada  when he was going to Quetta from Chaman.  Police said that Hafiz Hamdullah was safe in the murder attack.

It should be noted that a day before the general elections, two blast took place outside the election offices in two districts of Balochistan, as a result of which a total of 24 people were killed.

In Balochistan, the first blast took place in Khanazai area of ​​Pishin district in which 14 people were killed while the second blast took place outside the JUI-F office in Qila Saifullah in which 12 people were killed.

Quetta: At least 12 people were killed and many others were injured in blast occurred near the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam(JUI-F) Office in Qila Saifullah , Balochistan.

An explosion took place near the election office of JUI candidate Maulana Abdul Wasey in Qila Saifullah area of ​​Balochistan.

12 people died in the blast and several people were injured. The dead bodies and injured  shifted to the hospital. A large number of workers were present in the office at the time of the blast.

The condition of several injured in the Qila Saifullah explosion is critical, due to which more casualties are being feared.

Police said that JUI candidate from PB-3 Maulana Abdul Wasey was not present in the office.

After the blast, law enforcement agencies have cordoned off the area.

ECP unveils final list of minority seats in National Assembly

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has unveiled the ultimate compilation of ten minority seats within the National Assembly.

The final list consists of candidates from different parties, with 10 representing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), 5 from Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), 2 from Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP), 7 from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), 4 from Jamaat-e-Islami, and 3 from Mutahidda Quomi Movement (MQM).

Earlier, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has frozen the development funds of all local government departments.

According to the notification issued by the ECP, the development funds of the local government departments have been frozen until the announcement of the results of the general elections.

The notification states that the local governments will only carry out the day-to-day affairs of sanitation and cleanliness, but no local development scheme will be announced or worked on.

JUI-F issues final lists of candidates

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazal) has released the final list of its candidates contesting National Assembly and Provincial Assemblies seats across the country.

The spokesperson of JUI said 122 candidates are in the field for the National Assembly from all over the country, 110 candidates for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, and 51 candidates for the Balochistan Assembly will participate in the elections.

The spokesman further said JUI has nominated 134 candidates for the Punjab Assembly and 52 candidates for the Sindh Assembly.

JUI-F spokesperson has said that despite the bad law and order situation, the party will run a vigorous election campaign.

Spokesperson JUI Punjab has said in a statement that former provincial minister Makhdoom Haroon Sultan has joined JUI and he will contest the election from NA-177 Muzaffargarh on JUI ticket.

A spokesman said Makhdoom Haroon Sultan Bukhari will also participate in the election from PP 272 and 274.

ISLAMABAD: The Senate passed the resolution to postpone the elections 2024 in the country by a majority vote.

Senator Dilawar Khan tabled a resolution in the upper house of the Parliament seeking a delay in the elections which was approved by the majority of lawmakers. He said that it is very cold in most of the areas, due to which it is difficult for these areas to participate in the election process.

Dilawar Khan said attacks were carried out on Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) members and Mohsin Dawar. He said security forces have been attacked in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan while Awami National Party leader Aimal Wali also had reservations over elections.

The senator said threat alerts were also issued by the intelligence agencies during election rallies.
