Actor Vardhan Puri speaks extensively about his professional career as well as the film he co-starred in with Vivek Agnihotri, which the director had previously claimed to have canceled.

Vardhan Puri signed three films after his 2019 debut Yeh Saali Aashiqui, but they were cancelled owing to the pandemic. The actor claims that throughout his brief time working as an assistant director and actor, he encountered numerous individuals who claimed to have contacts in the film industry, including those who take advantage of actors by promising jobs in exchange.“Some people directly ask you for sexual favours, and say, ‘You pay me this much and I will get you this’. Someone would say, main aapko X, Y, Z se milaunga or woh aapke liye film likh rahe hain. And later, you learn that the person doesn’t even know the director and woh industry ka hissa hi nahin hain. They just try to make a quick buck,” he shares.

Nautanki by director Vivek Agnihotri was the first movie to lure Puri back from his hiatus during the pandemic. It’s interesting to note that Agnihotri claimed to be “no longer affiliated with the project” in an interview from April 2022. Agnihotri claimed that he assisted his friend and fellow actor Anupam Kher by filming the movie during the initial lockdown and even assisted with the first cut out of goodwill, but he had no knowledge of the finished product. Ask Puri about the progress, and the actor acknowledges that things are going well without giving away too much. That’s an old story, he continues. I’m not permitted to discuss it. Now that everything is going well, Agnihotri is quite proud of the movie.
