KARACHI: Chief Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Siraj ul Haq said Tuesday that the party strived hard for the LG elections and announced that they are going to celebrate the victory “Youm-e-Tashakkur” on January 20 across Pakistan.

He was addressing a presser when said that the party has always served the city and whenever JI got the chance, the city prospered.

“Hafiz Naeem and his team worked really hard and the people of Karachi lauded their efforts.”

He while slamming the delay in the LG polls result said that if the turnout was low then the result would have been issued immediately.

“The delay has given rise to suspiciousness.”

Siraj ul Haq said that JI has won 94 seats as per form 11 contrary to the result announced by ECP which is 86. “Peoples party was given the leading position while yesterday we got more constituencies and JI reached 88.”

JI chief demanded that JI’s mandate should be accepted and provincial government should not influence the ROs. He also said that PPP should accept the decision of the nation.

“Asif Zardari should accept our mandate, we are not refusing talks but in the first place the provincial government should not exercise its power to maneuver the results and must accept the reality.”
