According to the Christian community, The days leading up to Jesus Christ’s entry into Jerusalem (Palm Sunday), his crucifixion (Good Friday), and his resurrection (Easter Sunday) are known as Holy Week (Easter Sunday).

What is the date of Maundy Thursday?

Every year, Maundy Thursday falls three days before Easter. This Holy Day will be observed in Western religions on April 14, 2022.

Significance of Maundy Thursday? 

The Paschal Triduum, which lasts three days and commemorates Jesus’ Passion (the last hours), death, and resurrection, begins on Maundy Thursday.

This Thursday, however, marks the commemoration of several key biblical and Christian events.

The Last Supper is reported to have taken place on Holy Thursday.

What is the ritual for Maundy Thursday?

Because this Thursday is marked by a number of noteworthy events, individuals who observe it traditionally celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion by handing out bread and wine to those who attend services. This holiday is characterised in Eastern Orthodox churches with brighter liturgical colours, with white being the most frequent.

If any practitioners are fasting, they are allowed to break their fast to drink wine and oil.

The liturgical colours are changed to a darker colour, or black, after the service to indicate the beginning of the Passion.
