Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar settled their long-running legal battle.
Both have agreed to withdraw their respective cases against each other.
It began in 2020 when Akhtar filed a defamation case against Ranaut.

Kangana Ranaut and Javed Akhtar have officially settled their long-running legal battle, opting for an out-of-court resolution after five years. Both have agreed to withdraw their respective cases against each other.

Ranaut, now an elected member of parliament, shared the news on Instagram on Friday. “Today Javed Ji and I have resolved our legal matter (defamation case) through mediation. In the mediation, Javed Ji has been very kind and gracious, he also agreed to write songs for my next directorial,” she wrote alongside a picture of the two.

The dispute began in 2020 when Akhtar filed a defamation case against Ranaut over remarks she made in an interview following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Recalling a past meeting, she had said, “Once Javed Akhtar called me to his house and told me Rakesh Roshan and his family are very big people. If you don’t apologise to them, you will have nowhere to go… you will commit suicide. These were his words. He shouted and yelled at me. I was shaking in his house.”

Akhtar dismissed her claims in court, stating, “Whatever Kangana said in the interview is a lie and nothing but a lie.” Ranaut had also accused him of extortion and invading her privacy.

Alia Bhatt has reportedly withdrawn from Nitesh Tiwari’s cinematic adaptation of Ramayana. According to reports, scheduling conflicts prevented Alia from participating in the project. She was under consideration for the role of Sita in the film, which also features her real-life partner Ranbir Kapoor as Ram, and there were discussions about Kannada star Yash portraying Ravana. The report indicates that the film’s production launch has also experienced a delay. A source disclosed to Pinkvilla that the production team is meticulously refining all aspects of the project. The source shared, “While Ranbir Kapoor is still committed to the role of Lord Ram, Alia Bhatt, who was in discussions for the project, is no longer associated with it. The actress was being considered for the part of Goddess Sita, but due to date conflicts, the collaboration couldn’t proceed.”

The source also affirmed that Yash remains involved in the project, counteracting earlier rumors of his departure. In July, Nitesh Tiwari was questioned about the cast of his film, to which he neither confirmed nor denied the participation of Ranbir, Alia, and Yash. He simply mentioned that the official announcement would be made “very soon.” Addressing potential offense arising from the film, Nitesh expressed, “My question is very simple. I am also a consumer of the content that I create and if I’m not going to offend myself than I’m very confident that I might not end up offending anybody else.” He made this statement in light of the controversy surrounding Om Raut’s recent adaptation of Ramayana, Adipurush.

Earlier, Kangana Ranaut also shared her reaction to the casting of Ranbir and Yash in the movie. On Instagram, she wrote, “Recently I am hearing news about another coming up Bolly Ramayana… Where a skinny white rat (so-called actor) who desperately needs some sun tan and conscience he is infamous for doing nasty underhand PR about almost everyone in the industry… known for womanising and drug addiction after desperately trying to prove himself Lord Shiva in a trilogy (which no one watched or want to make more parts of) has now grown fancy to be Lord Rama…”

She continued, “Whereas a young southern superstar who is known to be self-made, a devoted family man a traditionalist also according to Valmiki ji description he looks more like Lord Rama in his complexion, demeanour and facial features… is offered to play Ravana…What kind of Kalyuga is this??” Kangana is working on her own film based on Ramayana, titled Sita: The Incarnation.

Chirag Paswan shares gratitude for no recent collaboration with Kangana Ranaut

Chirag Paswan, formerly an actor and the son of the late politician Ram Vilas Paswan, once appeared in a movie alongside Kangana Ranaut before leaving the Bollywood industry to become a full-time politician. In a recent interview, he shared his thoughts, suggesting that if he were to work with Kangana now, she would criticize him daily for nepotism. Currently serving as a Member of Parliament from Bihar’s Jamui constituency, Chirag Paswan reflected on his 2011 film “Miley Naa Miley Hum” with Kangana. He expressed gratitude for having worked with her at that time, stating, “Thank God I worked with Kangana back then. She would have taken my class every day over nepotism had I done the film now.”

Discussing nepotism further, he remarked, “People decide one’s fate in both industries. Regardless of whether you are the offspring of a superstar, prime minister, or president, if people do not like you… being the child of a prominent figure might be your good fortune, but not necessarily a reflection of your capability.” Chirag mentioned that a brief stint in Bollywood provided him with clarity about his life’s direction. In response to an Indian publication post, filmmaker Aditya Kriplani commented humorously, “If I had a penny for each time someone said ‘to be very honest’….” Despite this, many of Chirag’s fans praised his appearance.

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut remains consistently vocal against nepotism. On the day of the release of Karan Johar’s movie “Rocky Aur Rani” last month, she took to Instagram Stories, noting that there were no negative articles or tweets about her that day, humorously asking, “Why is it so quiet? On Gudi Padwa, the chief of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), Raj Thackeray, organized a rally in Mumbai called Padwa Melava. He thanked lyricist and author Javed Akhtar for his remarks about the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks while addressing the crowd at a rally in Pakistan on Wednesday. The rally was held at Dadar’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Park. Raj Thackeray stated in his speech, “I want people like Javed Akhtar and many more.” I want Muslims from India to speak out against Pakistan and assert our power. That’s what Javed Akhtar does, and I want Muslims to act like him.

Other people, including Kangana Ranaut and Raj Thackeray, have praised Javed Akhtar for speaking his mind. Javed went to a festival in Lahore that honored the writer Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
