KARACHI: The fatal road accidents involving heavy traffic continue to claim lives in the city, as a motorcyclist was killed after being struck by a water tanker near Clifton Block 2 on Friday.
Rescue officials said the victim, identified as 30-year-old Hafizur Rehman, died on the spot. His body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre(JPMC) for medico-legal formalities.
Following the incident, the tanker driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Police have taken the water tanker into custody and moved it to the Clifton Police Station, while efforts are underway to trace the driver through CCTV footage from nearby cameras.
In a separate incident, an elderly man was killed near KPT Gate No. 17 in Keamari after being hit by a car. The victim succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the hospital.
Police have collected CCTV footage from the area and launched a search for the driver and vehicle involved.
