The batsman made his debut at the age of 18 against Sri Lanka in 2005. He last played for India in July 2018 and had failed to make it to the squad for the 2019 ICC World Cup.

He played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20 internationals, scoring 7,988 runs. Sureshwas part of the team that won the 2011 ICC World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy.

However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) posted a tweet, paying tribute to the retired pair that share a close bond both on and off the pitch.

Noting down a list of their joint achievements in the 50-over format, ICC tweeted “What a duo!”

On the occasion of Pakistan marking 74th Independence Day, the government had conferred the Pride of Performance award to Humayun Saeed and singer Ali Zafar along with 182 other civil awards.

However, the civil awards will be handed out by the President in a ceremony scheduled for Pakistan Day, March 23, 2021.

Following this, several celebrities took to social media to congratulate the ones shortlisted for the honours, whereby, many sung praises for actor Saeed and singer Zafar.

Humayun Saeed took to Twitter to officially announce the award conferred upon him. He wrote, “Thank you Allah for Your infinite blessings, for all the success you have given me and for all the achievements You have bestowed upon me. It is a great honour to receive the Pride of Performance from the Government of Pakistan. Thank you all for all your love, support and appreciation.”

In response to his tweet, leading actress Mehwish Hayat, congratulated him saying, “Bohot Bohot Mubarak ho aapko Humayun! Welcome to the club!”

Whereas television actor Aijaz Aslam claimed that the honour was “well deserved.”

Singer Shafqat Amanat Ali and 2008 Pride of Performance recipient also wrote, “Heartiest congratulations brother. Welcome to the club.”

On the other hand, Ali Zafar posted a video to thank his fans and the Government of Pakistan for bestowing him with the honour.

Following this, Hayat also congratulated the singer saying, “Heartfelt Congratulations to you Ali – Onwards and upwards!”

Facebook now merging Messenger chats, Instagram in new update

Social media giant Facebook appears to flipping the switch on integrating the chat systems for Instagram and Messenger.

This move seems to be an effort to make cross-platform messaging easier, therefore, Facebook is merging Messenger with Instagram.

There is a new update rolling out for both iOS and Android users that will pop up a message saying ‘there’s a new way to message on Instagram’ with a list of features such as a new colorful look, chat with friends on Facebook, etc.

Once the user has updated the app, the icon for Direct Messages on the top right will be replaced by the Messenger’s icon. In other words, your chats will become more colorful with messages shifting between blue and purple colors while your scroll.
