Babar Azam hopes team can produce good results in Future After T20 Defeat

England defeats Pakistan by 2-1

Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has on Wednesday said he was aware of the mistakes his side had made during the series against England and assured the team would struggle through them.

Adil Rashid took a career-best haul before England just did enough in a nervous chase to wrap up their white-ball home season with a thrilling three-wicket victory over Pakistan in the third and final T20I of the series at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

England wrapped up the T20I series with a 2-1 victory following the embarrassing ODI defeat — 3-0 — that Pakistan had endured at the hands of the hosts just a few days ago.

Babar Azam, speaking during a post-match press conference, said his side had a 15-20 run short target for England in the final and decisive T20I match.

The skipper said the team suffers a setback when wickets fall continuously, adding that the batsman had played some amateur shots during the third T20I.

He praised the spinners for bowling well and noted that Pakistan’s fielding was getting better with time. “We still need to work on building [match-winning] partnerships.

“Mohammad Rizwan’s performance was up to the mark during this tour,” Babar added.

Admitting failures in the field, Azam said that they would not repeat their mistakes in the next match and would try to play good cricket.

Babar Azam Disappointed By Bowlers After Losing 2nd T20 Against England

Babar Azam uphappy with squad announced for T20 WC

Pakistan cricket captain Babar Azam has said that the bowlers on his side gave away too many runs which ended in the team’s loss in the second T20 against England.

In the post-match conference on Sunday, Babar Azam said that after the first partnership, the batsmen could not hold on to the momentum.

Set a 201-run target by England, Pakistan were restricted to 155 for nine in their 20 overs. Openers Azam and Mohammad Rizwan added 50 runs in 5.4 overs before the skipper was dropped by Saqib Mahmood for 22.

After Azam’s dismissal, Pakistan’s hunt fell away as the tourists lost wickets at regular intervals. Sohaib Maqsood (15), Mohammad Hafeez (10), Fakhar Zaman (8) and Azam Khan (1) fell to England’s spin bowling trio of Adil Rashid, Mark Parkinson and Moeen Ali.

Rizwan top-scored for the side with 37 off 29 balls. Shadab Khan remained triumphant on 36 off 22 balls (two fours, three sixes). Imad Wasim contributed 20 runs for England, Saqib took three wickets for 33 while Adil and Moeen took two wickets each conceding 30 and 32 runs respectively.

Admitting failures in the field, Azam said that they would not repeat their mistakes in the next match and would try to play good cricket.

Earlier on Saturday, Pakistan pacer Shaheen Afridi said the team needs help in case it loses [a match or a series].

Shaheen Afridi won the Player of the Match award for figures of 3 for 30 in 3.2 overs in the twenty20 series opener against England on Friday.

“Pakistan won the first T20I by showing the best teamwork,” Shah said. “The coaches supported us in bad times and gave us confidence.”

Afridi accepted that the green shirts could not play their best during the one-day international series matches. “We played badly in the ODI series,” he said. “It was a bad time.”

“You always have to perform as a team to win,” he added.

“You always have to perform as a team to win,” he added.

“It was a high-scoring game with a good start by the batters and put them in the position,” Afridi said in a post-match conference. “Then the pacers bowled well.”

He said given the short boundary [of Trent Bridge Stadium, Nottingham], it was important for them to use yorkers. “We wanted to attack the batters and keep a positive mindset,” he added.

On Friday, Pakistan defeated England by 31 runs to win the T20I series opener. Shadab Khan with his three wickets, a brilliant catch at the boundary, and sharp run-out followed by Shaheen Shah’s three wickets led Pakistan to defend the total.

England’s captain Eoin Morgan put Pakistan into bat first at a batting-friendly pitch. The strong duo of Rizwan and Babar put 49 in the powerplay.
