President Bestows Maulana Tariq Jamil With “Pride Of Performance” Award

Famed religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil is bestowed with Pakistan’s prestigious award of “Pride of Performance” by President Dr Arif Alvi on Pakistan Day.

Maulana Tariq Jamil has been conferred the Presidential Award for the “Pride Of Performance” on March 23.

On the other hand, President Dr Arif Alvi gives out Pakistan’s prestigious awards to the acclaimed celebrities of Pakistani entertainment.

Singer Ali Zafar, actor Humayun Saeed and Sakina Samo were presented the Pride of Performance award by the President.

After their acclaimed achievement, actor Shaan Shahid jumped in to congratulate both the popular personalities.

Whereas, Legendary actress Bushra Ansari and actor Talat Hussain received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz award.

However, the Nishan-i-Imtiaz award was bestowed upon renowned painter Sadequain Naqvi, singer Abida Perveen and late poet Ahmed Faraz.

Other recipients of civil awards include actress Resham, producer and drama artists.

Maulana Tariq Jameel named among the most ‘influential Muslims’ in Muslim 500

The Muslim 500, a Jordan based publication, has declared Prime Minister Imran Khan ‘Man of the Year’, while US Congresswoman Rashida Talib has been declared ‘Woman of the Year’.

Eminent religious scholars Mufti Taqi Usmani and Maulana Tariq Jameel have also been named among the most influential Muslims.

Maulana Tariq Jameel’s sermons focus on ‘self-purification, avoidance of violence, observance of Allah’s orders and pursuing the way of Prophet Muhammad.’ He has has been named continuously as one as of The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan from 2013 to 2019.

Tariq Jamil was born on 1 October 1953 in Mian Channu, Pakistan. He completed primary education from Central Model School, Lahore. Jamil is an alumnus of Government College University.

He received his Islamic education from Jamia Arabia, Raiwind, where he studied Qur’an, Hadith, Sufism, logic, and Islamic jurisprudence.

In 2019, the religious scholar stood 40th of a list ranking the world’s most “influential” Muslims. The annual publication was compiled by the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre in Jordan, and highlights people who are influential as Muslims. The publication defines influential as meaning “any person who has the power to make a change that will have a significant impact on the Muslim World”.

However, earlier this month, a list of 184 civil awards’ recipients had been issued by the government on Independence Day, all of whom will be presented their respective honors by President Dr. Arif Alvi on Pakistan Day.

President Alvi will present the Pride of Performance award to famed scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel.

Pakistan Civil Awards were established on March 19, 1957, following the proclamation of Pakistan as an independent republic on March 23, 1956. The announcement of civil awards is generally made once a year on Independence Day, and their investiture takes place on the following Pakistan Day, March 23.

According to Article 259(2) of the Constitution of Pakistan 1973, along with the Decorations Act 1975, the president confers civil awards on Pakistani citizens in recognition of gallantry.

Awards for the pride of performance are conferred for outstanding achievements in the fields of art, literature, science, sports, and nursing.

Celebs laud Humayun Saeed, Ali Zafar for being conferred with civil awards

On the occasion of Pakistan marking 74th Independence Day, the government had conferred the Pride of Performance award to Humayun Saeed and singer Ali Zafar along with 182 other civil awards.

However, the civil awards will be handed out by the President in a ceremony scheduled for Pakistan Day, March 23, 2021.

Following this, several celebrities took to social media to congratulate the ones shortlisted for the honours, whereby, many sung praises for actor Saeed and singer Zafar.

Humayun Saeed took to Twitter to officially announce the award conferred upon him. He wrote, “Thank you Allah for Your infinite blessings, for all the success you have given me and for all the achievements You have bestowed upon me. It is a great honour to receive the Pride of Performance from the Government of Pakistan. Thank you all for all your love, support and appreciation.”

In response to his tweet, leading actress Mehwish Hayat, congratulated him saying, “Bohot Bohot Mubarak ho aapko Humayun! Welcome to the club!”

Whereas television actor Aijaz Aslam claimed that the honour was “well deserved.”

Singer Shafqat Amanat Ali and 2008 Pride of Performance recipient also wrote, “Heartiest congratulations brother. Welcome to the club.”

On the other hand, Ali Zafar posted a video to thank his fans and the Government of Pakistan for bestowing him with the honour.

Following this, Hayat also congratulated the singer saying, “Heartfelt Congratulations to you Ali – Onwards and upwards!”
