Actor Vidya Balan is the latest celebrity to fall victim to the increasing threat of deepfake videos. Taking swift action, she clarified that she has no connection to the manipulated content circulating online.
Vidya addressed the issue on Instagram, warning her followers about the fake video. Along with a note, she also shared the AI-generated clip.
“There are multiple videos currently circulating on social media and WhatsApp, which appear to feature me. However, I want to clarify that the videos are AI-generated and inauthentic,” she wrote.
She further stated, “I have no involvement in its creation or dissemination, nor do I endorse its content in any way. Any claims made in the videos should not be attributed to me, as it does not reflect my views or work. I urge everyone to verify information before sharing and be cautious of misleading AI-generated content.” She also used hashtags like #FakeAlert and #StayAware.
Other Indian celebrities, including Rashmika Mandanna, Alia Bhatt, and Deepika Padukone, have also been targeted by deepfake content.
Vidya was recently seen in Do Aur Do Pyaar and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, the latter emerging as a box-office success.
