Murad travels across Sindh to ensure safe, secure Ashura

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah led the main Ashura procession at Numaish and then flew to Hyderabad, where he also participated in the procession at Imambargah Mola Ali and took aerial views of the processions.

The CM then, accompanied by Home Minister Zia Lanjar, flew to Hyderabad, where he visited Imambargah Mola Ali. He led the mourning procession and went to the Command & Control Centre to inspect the monitoring system.

The CM, on his way back to Karachi, took an aerial view of the Ashura processions of Hyderabad and Karachi.

On his landing in Karachi, Murad Shah visited the CPO, where he was received by Inspector General of Police Ghulam Nabi Memon.

The CM was taken to the Command & Control Centre at the CPO, where he witnessed the monitoring process of the Ashura procession. The IG Police, briefing the CM, said that over 350 dedicated cameras were covering the procession from different angles to ensure its security.

The CM directed the IG police to continue security arrangements until the mourning processions were terminated, and the people returned to their homes.

Hyderabad: Replying to a question, the CM said that a political party did not emerge merely by winning votes and bagging seats, but it needed to adhere to political norms, “PTI will have to review its role if it is demonstrating political behaviour or not,” he said.

“We [PPP] have not been consulted for banning PTI, but as a matter of fact, Pakistan Peoples Party has never been in favour of banning any political body, ” Murad Shah said.

To a question, the CM said that his government was constructing 2.1 million houses for flood-affected people. Of them, 1.5 million [houses] have been completed and 600,000 are under construction.

Murad Shah said that he was trying to complete the largest housing project for flood-affected people by December 2025.

Court issues non-bailable arrest warrant of Sher Afzal Marwat

RAWALPINDI:  A Rawalpindi court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat in connection with an illegal construction case.

The warrant was issued by Civil Judge Muhammad Mumtaz Hinjra in response to a case filed by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA). The judge has directed the police to arrest Marwat and present him in court on July 30.

Sher Afzal Marwat is accused of construction in plot near Thalian Motorway Interchange without permission.

ATC indicts Shah Mahmood Qureshi in May 9 case

LARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court(ATC) on Monday indicted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former federal minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in May 9 riot case.

Court acquits PTI founder, Bushra Bibi in Iddat case

ISLAMABAD: An Additional District and Sessions Court acquitted Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the iddate case.

Additional district and sessions court Judge Muhammad Afzal Majoka pronounced the reserved verdict and declared the trial court verdict null and void.

The court accepted ex-PM Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s pleas seeking annulment of conviction in the iddat case.

Judge Afzal Majoka ordered the release of Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi if they are not wanted in any other case and also dismissed the medical board’s plea.

Justice Afzal Majuka pronounced verdict on the appeals against the convictions of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case, in which the court said that both the appeals related to the opinion of the medical board and the scholars are rejected.

The court declared the sentences of both as null and void and ordered acquittal.

The court issued orders for the release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

The court allowed the appeals against the sentence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case and declared the sentence null and void and acquitted both of them from the case.

LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered immediate release of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sanam Javed from jail.

The written decision of Sanam Javed’s petition against arrest in Gujranwala case has been issued.

A 2-member bench headed by Justice Asjad Javed Gharal issued a 14-page written decision.

The judgment said that repeatedly naming the petitioner in a case of the same nature shows malice, the purpose of repeatedly arresting the petitioner after his release is to defeat the judicial system.

It has been said in the judgment that the Deputy Commissioner Lahore and Gujranullah issued orders for the detention of the petitioner despite being in jail, demanding strict action against the Deputy Commissioners, but the court is showing arrogance and is not taking action.

The court said in the decision that the courts giving physical remand should also keep the fundamental rights given in the constitution in front while giving remand.

The judgment said that there is no evidence with the investigating officer to name the petitioner in the case. The case against the petitioner was registered at Guajarnwala on the basis of malice, the petitioner is discharged from the case forthwith.

According to the written verdict, the Deputy Prosecutor General stated that no further case has been filed against Sanam Javed.

No threat to govt after ruling on reserved seats : Law Minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar  said that there was no threat to the government after the decision of apex court regarding reserved seats as it had a clear majority of 209 members in the House.

Addressing a press conference, Azam Nazeer Tarar said that the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) didn’t recognize non-Muslims as its members, adding that legal action would be decided in consultation with political parties.

He questioned that what about the condition of Article 51 of the Constitution. The independent members of PTI were on the stance that the reserved seats should be given to the SIC, he said, adding that apparently Article 51 and 106 were re-written, he said.

The minister said that they were viewing the contents of the verdict. He said that there was a law exist about the reserved seats and it should have been allocated to the SIC.

He clarified that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) was not a party in this case and that independent members of PTI did not approach any forum after winning.

Azam Nazeer Tarar said according to the SIC’s manifesto, they should not be allocated minority seats. He added that PTI never claimed that their party should get reserved seats.

Regarding the review appeal, Tarar said that a decision would be made after consulting of the federal cabinet and viewing the detailed judgment.

He said the ruling has raised ambiguities and confusion, and legal experts will continue to give their opinions on it.

On the hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan has demanded the immediate resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and members of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

PTI leaders held a joint press conference after the Supreme Court’s decision to award reserved seats to PTI.

Addressing the press conference, Omar Ayub said that Article 6 should be imposed on those who misinterpret the constitution.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday while nullifying the verdict of Peshawar High Court (PHC) declared the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) as eligible for the reserved seats.

Justice Mansoor Ali Shah announced the 8-5 majority verdict which was reserved previously. The court annulled the decision of Peshawar High Court (PHC) that upheld the order of Election Commission of Pakistan for denying the reserved seats to PTI-backed Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC).

Justice Athar Minallah, Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Syed Hassan Rizvi, and Justice Irfan Saadat Khan also favored the judgment.

In its ruling, the court said that denial of election symbol doesn’t affect the constitution or the legal right of a political party to participate in an election and to to field candidates.

The commission is under a constitutional duty to apply all statutory provisions accordingly.

The top court remarked that PTI, as a political party, has a legal and constitutional right to reserved seats.

Rejecting the appeals filed by the SIC, the apex court said that the party cannot take reserved seats as per the Constitution.

PTI decides to participate in APC on Operation Azm e Istekham

Officials said that Hidayat Ullah was the son of former Member National Assembly(MNA) Haji Bismillah Khan and brother of former governor Shaukatullah. He was an independent senator from 2012 to 2018 and from 2018 to 2024.

Hidayat Ullah has also been the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Aviation, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).

Malakand Regional Police Officer Muhammad Ali Khan Gandapur confirmed the deaths and added that former senator’s car was targeted in an attack in Bajaur’s Damadola area.

During the hearing, the statements of three prosecution witnesses were recorded and the court summoned three more witnesses for the next hearing.

During the hearing, Bushra Bibi’s lawyer Barrister Salman Safdar argued that the National Accountability Bureau(NAB) team did not oppose Bushra Bibi’s bail and said that Bushra Bibi’s arrest warrant has not been issued.

Accountability Special Court has approved the interim bail of Bushra Bibi in the £190 million case.

Later, the hearing of the £190 million scam against founder PTI and Bushra Bibi was adjourned till July 5.

Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka issued a detailed verdict rejecting the appeals of PTI founder Imran Khan and his Bushra Bibi for suspension of sentence in Iddat case.

The detailed judgment of Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka regarding suspension of sentence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi consists of 10 pages.

Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka wrote in a detailed judgment that both the appeals for suspension of sentence haverejected. He remarked under Section 426 is bailable but the convict is not entitled to bail, under the law even a woman convict cannot be eligible for bail.

Judge Afzal Majoka in his judgment referred to several judgments related to fraudulent marriage and wrote that in the cited judgments, no convict’s sentence was suspended. The convict cannot be considered innocent in the application for suspension of sentence.  Founder PTI and Bushra Bibi has served a long time of her sentence.

Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka had reserved the verdict on the appeals against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s sentence on June 25, which was pronounced today.

It should be remembered that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 7, 7 years in prison on 3 February 2024 in a case related to marriage during Iddat, which they challenged.

LHC hints to summon CM Punjab in Gill’s brother’s recovery case

The court inquired whether there are only two cases, are they on bail in both.  The lawyer replied  that she is on bail in both the cases.

On which the court said that there are minor charges and all are bailable and put the names in the ECL.  The court ordered to immediately remove  her name from ECL and also call those who includes such names in next hearing.

The Islamabad High Court ordered the removal of Zartaj Gul’s name from the ECL and ordered the Assistant Attorney General to submit a report within a week.

Zahid Asif opposed the request for suspension of sentence and said that the court has to see whether the case of the appellants is for suspension of sentence or not.

The lawyer said that the facts of the interview conducted were distorted. The Khawar Maneka’s son said in the same interview that the founder of PTI was not married to Bushra Bibi, this is a false allegation.

During the hearing, Judge Afzal Majoka told Khawar Maneka’s lawyer that the appellants say that they were harassed after which the complaint was filed. The lawyer replied that no, there were no such circumstances. He was arrested for investigation by an investigative agency.

PESHAWAR: The Central Leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) and former Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser said people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being victimized over voting for PTI.

While giving a statement against prolonged load shedding, Asad Qaiser said that the worst load shedding has been going on in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the last three days. He said that revenge is being taken from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for voting for Imran Khan.

He said that he will protest on the floor of the assembly and highlight this issue in the budget speech as well, PTI do not accept load shedding and expensive electricity and this cruelty should be stopped.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Advisor Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif said that the nation is requested to pray for the release of the founder PTI and its workers on Eid.

Barrister Saif said that the founder PTI and women workers are being tortured on the orders of Maryam Nawaz. He said the conspiracy group has made fake cases against the founder PTI and workers.

Ex-PTI MNA Amjad Khan Niazi released from Mianwali Jail

MIANWALI: Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) Member of National Assembly Amjad Ali Khan was released from Mianwali Jail.

Amjad Ali Khan was granted bail in 2 cases on May 9, after which he was released from jail and reached home.

Amjad Ali Khan was re-arrested under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance on Thursday, but on the order of the Lahore High Court, the Commissioner withdrew the orders of the 3 MPOs, after which he was released from Mianwali Jail.

Additionally, 36 PTI workers have also been released from Mianwali Jail.

Federal Govt challenges PTI founder’s acquittal in SC

ISLAMABAD:  The federal government has challenged the acquittal of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf(PTI) founder  and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case in the Supreme Court.

The appeals were filed in Supreme Court through Ministry of Interior against High Court decision, in which it has been requested that the appeals against the decision of the founder of PTI, Shah Mahmood Qureshi on June 3, be accepted.

In the petition, the Supreme Court has been requested to approve the appeals and annul the decision of acquittal.

In the filed petition, it was said that according to the Official Secrets Act, 1923, no appeal can be made against the decision of the special judge, the founder of PTI, Shah Mahmood Qureshi did not cooperate in the trial court The trial court heard and decided on 65 petitions on behalf of the accused.

It should be remembered that on June 3, the Islamabad High Court acquitted the founder of PTI and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case.

Mandviwala elected Chairman of Senate panel on Finance

ISLAMABAD: Senator Saleem Mandviwala of Pakistan People’s Party(PPP)  has been elected as the Chairman of Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue.

Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) Senators Shibli Faraz and Mohsin Aziz strongly protested the election of Salim Mandviwala as Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and boycotted the session. The both PTI senators walked out expressing reservations on the matter.

Senator Shibli Faraz while addressing the Senate session said that no one knew about the establishment of the committees till last night.

Senator Ali Zafar said that the committee which is related to the accountability of the government goes to the opposition.

On the other hand, Senator Sherry Rehman in response said that the impression is being given that there was irregularity in the committees, PTI did not get a committee of by choice, that’s why party senators are saying all this.

Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazir Tarar said that committees are always made by the Senate Secretariat, when PML-N was in the opposition, party asked for the Interior and Law Committee.
