Governor demands formation of high-level commission to probe accidents

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tessori has demanded to the Chief Minister Sindh to form high-level commission to on increasing traffic accidents in the Karachi city.

Governor Sindh wrote a letter to Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on increasing traffic accidents in the city.

According to the spokesman, Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori expressed concern over the negligent driving of drivers, dumper, truck and water tankers, saying that violations and accidents of traffic laws increased significantly within a few months.

Governor Sindh demanded the Chief Minister to set up a high level commission headed by the Chief Secretary and said that the committee should identify the reasons and determine the responsibilities, effective strategies must be made to prevent such incidents.

Kamran Tessori said in his letter that at present, there are severe anxiety and reservations among the people, urging the government to take immediate and effective steps to ensure the protection of the lives of the citizens.

Sindh cabinet approves 5-years relaxation for government job

KARACHI: The Sindh government has increased the upper age limit for new recruits in government sector.

A meeting of the provincial cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah was held in which ministers, advisers and secretaries attended.

Sources said that the Sindh cabinet approved the Universities and Board Amendment Bill 2025.

Earlier, Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori objected to the bill and sent it back to the Assembly, while the governor had also objected to the appointment of heads in universities and boards.

In addition, the Sindh cabinet approved a 5-year relaxation for government jobs.

According to sources, there was a 15 -year relaxation at the first age for government employment which was abolished.

KARACHI: The Sindh cabinet has approved agriculture income tax bill 2025  with reservations and this will be implemented from January 2025.

Sindh Cabinet approved the Agriculture Income Tax law during its meeting, proposing that agricultural income up to Rs. 600,000 annually will be exempt from tax, while the maximum tax rate for income exceeding Rs. 5.6 million annually will be 45 per cent.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said a progressive super tax has also been introduced, with no super tax on annual agricultural income up to Rs. 150 million and a maximum of 10 per cent super tax applying to income exceeding Rs. 500 million annually.

New Agricultural Income Tax In line with the commitments outlined in the National Fiscal Pact between the provinces and the Federal Government, the Sindh Cabinet has approved the Sindh Agricultural Income Tax Law, setting the stage for its introduction in the Sindh Assembly. This progressive legislation aims to strengthen the province’s tax collection framework and enhance fiscal responsibility within the agricultural sector.

Under this new law, the Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) will be the authority responsible for collecting and enforcing the agricultural income tax, ensuring a streamlined and efficient process. The proposed Sindh Agricultural Income Tax Bill 2025 is set to take effect on January 1, 2025.

The Bill states that agricultural income up to Rs. 600,000 annually will be exempt from tax, while the maximum tax rate for income exceeding Rs. 5.6 million annually will be 45 per cent.

A progressive super tax has also been introduced: there will be no super tax on annual agricultural income up to Rs 150 million, while a maximum super tax of 10 per cent will apply to income exceeding Rs  500 million annually.

Additionally, the Bill aims to include corporate farming in the tax net. Small companies will be subject to a 20 per cent tax rate on their annual agricultural income, while large companies will face a tax rate of 29 per cent.

Notably, livestock has not been included in the tax net, and the advance agricultural income tax, based on land cultivation, will no longer be levied. The payment, collection, and filing of agricultural income tax will be fully automated for greater efficiency.

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has appointed 8 new spokespersons and 12 new special assistants.

According to the notification issued by the Sindh government, Nadir Nabil Gabol, Sukhdeve Assardas Hermnani, Buland Khan Junejo, Sumeta Afzal, Syeda Tehseen Abidi, Heer Soho, Syeda Akraba Fatima and Mustafa Abdullah Baloch have been appointed as government spokespersons.

According to the notification, the Chief Minister appointed Pir Syed Afzal Shah, Liaquat Askani, Tanzeela Ume Habiba, Amir Hamza Rais and Muhammad Raza Haroon as special assistants.

Similarly, Khair Muhammad Sheikh, Kulsoom Chandio, Amanullah Masood, Muhammad Ali Rashid, Muhammad Ali Bhutto, Hussain Aslam and Veerji Kolhi are also included in the special assistants.

After the appointment of 12 new special assistants, the number of special assistants in the Sindh government has now increased to 18.

Chairman PP Bilawal Bhutto arrived for the inauguration of Zardari Expressway where he himself drove his vehicle on Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Expressway, on this occasion Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was also present.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also paid Rs 100 toll tax on the expressway and inspected the expressway in detail.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Sindh Chief Minister said that it is too late for us to build the Bhutto Expressway. He said Shaheed Benazir Bhutto had given a package 30 years ago, this package included the Lyari Expressway and other projects.

Chief Minister noted that the expressway will connect to the Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway (M-9) via DHA and the existing link road, aiming to serve as an alternative to Shahrah-e-Faisal once it becomes fully operational in 2025. It is expected to link major industrial zones and alleviate congestion on Karachi’s roadways.

Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon commented that Bhutto Road represents a significant step towards development. He emphasized that the expressway establishes a strategic link between central Karachi and the motorway, ensuring seamless access to the National Highway.

UN must take steps to stop Palestinian genocide

LAHORE/KARACHI: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has expressed solidarity with the oppressed Palestinian brothers and sisters.

In her message on International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Maryam Nawaz called upon the international community to help end massacre of unarmed innocent Palestinians including children and women.

The CM said: “We pay tribute to the heroic sacrifices of the Palestinian people.” She added, “Every citizen of Pakistan equally shares sufferings of Palestinian brethren.”Pakistan’s cuisine

She highlighted, “Pakistan has always been and will continue to be a staunch supporter of the Palestinians’ rights.”

Maryam said Pakistan’s policy on Palestine is a true reflection of the principled stance of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Pakistan will always stand by Palestinian brothers and sisters.

The Chief Minister said that the struggle of Palestinians will definitely bear fruit one day and they will be blessed with the blessing of freedom.” She prayed, “May Allah Almighty save Palestinian people from the oppression and barbarity of the usurper Israeli forces.”

Similarly,  Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that the United Nations (UN) must take steps to stop the Palestinians genocide.

In his message on International Day of Solidarity with Palestinians, he said, ‘We have always condemned Israel’s aggressive actions.’

The CM said that Pakistan’s support will continue for Palestinians to achieve their right to self-determination. He said that the international community can not ignore Israeli oppression against Palestinians.

Court acquits Sindh CM in Nooriabad Power project reference

ISLAMABAD: An Accountability Court acquitted Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah in the Nooriabad Power Project reference.

Islamabad Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed heard the Nooriabad Power Project reference against the Sindh Chief Minister and others, where the lawyer of the accused, Barrister Qasim Nawaz Abbasi, appeared in the court.

Accountability Court accepted the request of Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB)to withdraw the reference and acquitted the Sindh Chief Minister in the reference.

The accountability court also acquitted all the other accused named in the Nooriabad Power Project reference.

Sindh CM takes notice of alleged rape of polio worker in Jacobabad

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday took notice of alleged rape of a woman polio worker in Allah Bakhsh Jakhrani Goth Jacobabad.

Chief Minister Sindh has asked the Commissioner and Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Larkana to report the incident. He directed authorities concerned to provide protection to lady polio workers.

He further directed for complete investigation of the incident and ordered early arrest of accused. He also sought reported in this regard.

Murad Ali Shah instructed local administration to fully cooperate with polio worker.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Asif Haider Shah also took notice of the news about alleged rape of a woman polio worker in the media.

He sought reported from Commissioner Larkana and DIG Larkana. He said polio workers should be provided protection in every case.

He instructed DIG Larkana to arrest accused involved in the incident as soon as possible.

Earlier, an incident of alleged rape of a woman administering anti-polio drops to children has taken place in Jacobabad.

In Allah Bakhsh Jakhrani, a village on the outskirts of Jacobabad, there was an incident of alleged rape of a worker who was going to administer polio eradication drops.

The victim woman has been shifted to St James Hospital for medical assistance.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Smeer Noor says that raids are being conducted to arrest the accused.

Governor, CM visit Mazar-e-Quaid on his 76th death anniversary

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah along with members of the provincial cabinet visited Mausoleum of the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and paid homage to him on his 76th death anniversary.

Kamran Khan Tessori and Syed Murad Ali Shah offered Fateha and laid floral wreaths on the shrine and prayed for the prosperity and development of the country and the province.

They also penned comments on visitors’ book to pay tribute to Quaid on his struggle for creation of separate homeland for the Muslims of the Sub Continent.

Speaking to media after paying homage to the father of the nation, Sindh Governor said there was dire need to follow Quaid’s principles of unity, firmness and discipline so that country could be taken to the right track.

He said Quaid was a brave and principled leader who always remained committed to democratic principles throughout his life.

He said as per Quaid’s ideology, extremism has no place in the country.

Governor Tessori said present government was determined to make the country Quaid’s Pakistan.

The 76th death anniversary of the father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is being observed with due solemnity, with the pledges to follow his golden principles of “unity, faith and discipline”.

The day dawned with special prayers in mosques and other worship places for eternal peace of the departed soul and for peace and prosperity of the country.

Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah served as leader of All-India Muslim League from 1913 until Pakistan’s creation on August 14, 1947.
